When you later run into the hoodlums again inside the Mana fortress, they sick their updated robot at you - Killroy. In the Japanese version it's equipped with a chainsaw and uses it to attack you. In all the Western versions of the game, this boss is just a re-colored version of the robot of the first encounter - however, the hammer no longer shrinks you when you're hit.
The name Hell Hound in the Japanese release has been censored with Heck Hound in the English release. However the word "God" is mentioned in the opening of the game which has got past the censorship.
However an uncensored picture of a naked woman by the magic book Mystic Book and National Scar can be briefly seen even in the North American release. This was unusual as Nintendo wouldn't allow nudity to be in Nintendo games. It's unknown how it got past the censorship.
Also a boomerang weapon called Cobra Shuttle is shaped into a Nazi symbol, swastika. Which was unusual as Nintendo wouldn't allow Nazi symbols in Nintendo games, it's unknown how it also got past the censorship.
