loove this show!
snperera17 February 2017
well what can I say about this?!! How amazing and how great is this show! This is my childhood. Shia was so great in this show! He is so funny as Louis and he really took the role to heart! I love the chemistry between the sister and Shia. They really act like how a sister and a brother would act in real life. I loved how simple the show was as well. I also loved the parents in this show and Louis's friends as well. They add great chemistry and comedy to the show as well. I will always love the show. I loved that they showed that no matter how much the siblings fought that they loved each other and that they would do anything for each other. Louis is such a likable character as well.

Disney we need to talk
ThunderKing610 September 2020
You had great shows. It wasn't corny, cringey and filled with forced jokes and antics.

You had Shows like Even Stevens that was down to earth, serious and funny at the same time.

The set wasn't turf and Barney like background. In shows like Even Stevens sets were realistic. The characters were cool. The Stories were great.

Now and for over a decade you've produced the same corny, cringe over and over.

Verdict: Even Stevens was da show!!

I love this show, it's better and funnier than I remember!

Of all the Disney Channel Shows I grew up watching, Even Stevens is the one I have the least memories of, and that's because when I really started watching it, the show was already over and Disney Channel kept showing reruns, but here's my opinion; This show is funny, inventive, genius, the characters are so cool and entertaining, and each episode is always a real blast to watch! My favorite character is Louis Stevens and I never expected Shia Laboeuf to explode into superstardom the way he did, he's a great actor, my least favorite would have to be Ren because she's boring compared to everyone else on the show. I think this should've lasted for more than 3 seasons and had more than 65 episodes, but then again, that was Disney Channel's policy for each show at the time, and now that I'm watching it again on Youtube, so I can get to know the show better than I already do, I have a greater appreciation for it. The only real problem with this show is that the characters were in middle school the whole time, and yet they looked like high school kids, so in that aspect, the show would've been a bit more interesting with some more freedom for the characters to do what they did if we had gotten to experience their high school days, Lizzie McGuire frustrated me for the same reason. But besides that, this was 1 of the best Disney Channel shows ever to be released, and I love it, it's so much better than most of the current Disney Channel shows like Shake it Up, A.N.T. Farm, Jessie, My Baby Sitter's a Vampire, and Dog With a Blog. Oh what a classic this show was!

One of the funniest shows ever made
mr_whud9 January 2004
Even Stevens is one of my top 10 shows of all time. The characters are great. A lot of people don't like Beans, but I think he can be hilarious. The supporting cast is excellent, but the show belongs to Shia. He's a superb actor (everyone on the show is, in my opinion). The writing is witty, clever, and original, and some episodes literally have me laughing for over half an hour (and most shows are unable to elicit more than a chuckle from me). It's too bad there's a 65-episode limit, 'cause I'd definitely like to see some new episodes (although most of 'em I haven't seen). Anyway, if you have Disney Channel, give it a try. You'll probably enjoy it.

Even Stevens is the best show on Disney Channel
jnicophene14 November 2019
I loved Even Stevens! I think I was in high school when I first started watching it and I believe it was in its 3rd season. I was actually sad when I realized the show was over. This was truly a missed opportunity that Disney goofed on. This show was going somewhere. It should have at least had 1 or 2 more seasons. Happy to see all the hype around it now... it shows i wasn't the only one who felt this way.

The comedy was also different.. it had something for everyone to enjoy.

I've been watching it nonstop on Disney+

Malcolm in the middle - Disney version
theprogs31 May 2021
Let me say that this was one of the best Disney shows ever, I enjoyed it when I was young, and I enjoyed it when I became old! It can't be compared to nowadays Disney's shows at all which are full of fake laughters sounds to enforce you to laugh on silly events. This series actually reminds me of Malcolm in the Middle which was one of the best comedy shows but not as complicated as it is, it's simply a Disney version of it. Both series starts with two or more different sfories and try to twist them together in a brilliant way. Hope Disney will make such shows in the future instead of the current crab they are airing.

Family Screw up
bkoganbing27 May 2016
Shia LaBoeuf was the star of Even Stevens about a family named Stevens from Sacramento, California where the mother was a State Senator no less. Mom was played by Donna Pescow and her husband Tom Virtue made a good living as a lawyer. They had three kids. Son Nick Spano was a jock, not all that much upstairs but with his athletic abilities unless he got injured would never have to worry where the next meal was coming from. Daughter Christy Carlson Romano was an academic whiz also beautiful and popular. No doubt she was going to be the family winner.

But the youngest was LaBoeuf, a screw up in every way. You kind of felt bad for Louis Stevens, he must have been under great pressure in that family of winners he came from. In the end of every episode you hoped he would get it together and have a reasonably successful adulthood.

Louis Stevens in a very funny but also poignant way appealed to every kid out there who felt he was shortchanged somehow. The show also had an appealing group of semi-regular characters who popped every so often in episodes. All in all it was a good family entertainment show.

The Best Show on Disney...EVER ! p.s. I hate ALL of the other lame Disney shows!!!!!!!!!!!
metalminister12 March 2006
I was in the hospital for back surgery (martial arts injury)when this show debut in August 2000.I was depressed, could not walk, & was subject to lying in bed. So all I could do was Read or watch T.V. & to my surprise I started to watch The comedy channel,TCM, Nick & Disney to get my mind off the severity my my ordeal! At first I only watched a few episodes of even stevens & thought it was OK for a grade schooler, then I recovered & stopped watching it. In 2002 I had to stop teaching/coaching my fighters & I ended up closing my business due to continued back problems. Once again I was depressed & out of work...so I watched Disney again & saw a commercial for even stevens(the one that looked like Indiana Jones) & noticed the cast looked older & it seemed funnier...Man was it funnier, in fact the show was emmy nominated & shia won an emmy for his performance! This is a very talented cast!Sure it took a little while for the show to get better(shia got less annoying & became brilliant). Disney needs to get their head out of their ____ & play more even stevens to show the new generation what a real teen comedy should look like 'cause it seems that a lot of the new young viewers never even heard of it! Nick's "Drake & Josh" is the only new show that has a similar slapstick sense of humor but, it is still not as unique! EVEN STEVENS= 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & that's coming from an Adult!

I think Even Stevens is a very corny and weird funky show. But in a good way. Some of the episodes can be........well, rather stupid but, I'm a big fan of Ren (Christy Romano)I cannot wait until the movie comes out. Louis can be a humungos pain. He's always screaming and getting in trouble, but thats the point of the show isn't it. My rating maybe ohhhhh.........9/10

Hilarious! Show for the young and mature.
mikeadriano18 May 2020
This was the epitome of Disney's preteen/teen shows of the 2000s. Christy and Shia shine brightly here. Very well scripted and acted throughout. Excellent casting of extras, there are kookie and weird characters from time to time like Beans and Tom, but they all mesh perfectly together. Apart from Louis and Ren, my favorites were Larry Beale, the perfect nemesis for Ren. I think they'd make a great romantic match. Donny, the self absorbed, at times effeminate but butch older brother, Twitty and Tawny loyal "sidekicks" and of course the Stevens' parents. The show is hilarious a must watch for everyone. Shia steals the show!

Disney Channel's best sit com
TheLittleSongbird3 July 2011
Even Stevens was a big childhood favourite, and I still love it now. In fact, I consider it the Disney Channel's best sit com, which for me is saying a fair bit. Part of my love for Even Stevens is for nostalgic reasons, but I also consider it a great show. The characters are clichéd in a sense, but they are also very likable so that doesn't matter so much to me. The production values look great, and the music is catchy and memorable. The writing is witty, clever and funny with the odd bit of poignancy too, while the story lines are well paced and interesting. The acting is very good, this is still the best I have seen Shia LaBoeuf act and Christy Carlson Romano in particular is wonderful. In conclusion, a great show and the best of the Disney Channel's situation comedies. 10/10 Bethany Cox

Twists and Turns
ripplepaw7 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie provided many twists and turns. Unfortunately, a bit disappointing for me (okay, fine, a lot disappointing to me) for multiple reasons:

1) The Matrix came out in 1999. This came out in 2003. Why aren't the graphics amazing?! Even Keanu couldn't rescue this flick. He's not in it whatsoever.

2) I really expected the main character to be named "Even". It's in the title. However, to find out his name was Louis honestly provided the biggest twist of the movie. Well-done, Disney.

3) Loved the orange juice in the beginning of the movie. Why wasn't there more? Disappointed.

A most excellent show indeed
Jerry Ables21 January 2003
I find the time I spend watching this show to be time very well spent because it's such a funny and delightful show. The entire cast of the show is terrific playing characters that I think everyone can relate to and care about and every episode is richly filled with great laughs. I would personally recommend this show to people of all ages.

Great Disney Channel Show!
scissorhands__emily1 March 2007
I think this is one of the best Disney Channel shows ever aired. Every episode is funny and all the characters are different. There are plenty of characters you could relate to, and even characters you may know in real life (like Beans, the younger kid who always follows you around and wants to hang out with you). The acting is good all around, especially by Louis (Shia LaBeouf). The show also doesn't appeal to just one gender. The basis of the show is the Stevens family, so we get to look at the parents, Louis, Ren, and Donny, as well as Beans, the principal, Twitty, Tawny, Tom, Ruby, and many others. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone. It always keeps my attention, even when I'm watching episodes I've seen before.

It brings the family together.
superstoneste5 February 2008
Even Stevens is one of the only shows on TV, these days, that brings the family together. I've loved Shia Labeouf ever since. He was perfect for the part of "Lewis". Christy Carlson Romano is excellent as "Ren". And who could forget Steven Anthony Lawrence as "Beans". My dad and I love to watch it whenever it's on. The entire cast makes us laugh all the time. Sometimes during dinner we'd have the TV on in the next room and listen to it like listening to the radio. And whenever it's an episode my dad doesn't remember, but I remember perfectly, I describe the scene to him. My favorite character is Lewis. Even though he plays a lot of pranks, he has a good heart. An excellent show!!

One very good children's show that should've won the Emmy!
tjfan5130 May 2001
"Even Stevens" is one Disney show that is worth it's grain of salt. It's not dumb or boring or made for the little miniscule age of 12-13. My 20 year old brother even thinks its funny. It's a good show. Each episode is different. It's not, yeah they're going through the same thing again. It's a show you'll enjoy!

Definitely a great show!
Virtual1517 July 2005
If you are looking for a show to entertain you, Even Stevens might be the one to do so. You might even relate to some of the characters in this show.

It's about a family of five; most of them are good at something. Donnie (the oldest child in the Stevens family) is a sports-jock, and he's good at almost any sport. Then there's Ren, the middle child of the Stevens family, who gets real good grades all the time, and she's good at participating in extracurricular activities. Louis, the Stevens family's youngest child, is a goof-ball who gets in trouble a lot. He's still trying to find what he's good at. Then there's their parents, Eileen and Steve. Steve works at a law firm, and Eileen is a state senator.

I guarantee you that if you watch Even Stevens, you might like it and start watching it regularly.

Top Notch
willow_chick8815 May 2002
Let's face it the Disney Channel has never been a place for high quality TV that enlightens as well as entertains, the exception being "Avonlea". Still, the show "Even Stevens" is one of the best shows on the network. The family dynamics really make the show work. Whether, it's the antagonistic relationship of Ren and Louis or the nurturing one between Eileen and Ren. However, when the show shifts to the school things become a lot less realistic and harder to swallow. No principal would play favorites with his/her students! No cafeteria serves food that completely gross, and I'm only 19 so I do remember what cafeteria food looks like. Still, the home life makes the school life easier to take. The actors are wonderful and I wouldn't be surprised to see Shia LaBoeuf in the movies, actual movies not the Disney Channel ones, and becoming very famous.

What do I Like About This Show?
thenumberonejumpjack5 August 2012
I loved this show so much! It was one of the best things Disney ever produced out of the 1990s. At least I feel like I can laugh at the show by myself (so to speak) without an annoying laugh track finding all of the jokes for me (it seems to be Disney's crime to produce unfunny shows with unfunny episodes that produce unfunny plot devises and jokes that have an audience finding the jokes for you. But even when they find the jokes for you, they're not funny!).

The thing I mostly liked about this show was the fact the it was realistic. I never grew up in the US so I never experienced lots of the things, but from what I've heard, this show makes the life and times of a (a bit stereotypically) accurate. Just a NORMAL American family with two siblings that always fight in and out of school.

Lovely show; really realistic - 10/10

Laugh out loud funny! I'm glad Disney's keeping this show!!!!!
sethn1727 September 2006
Well, 2000 was a very different time for Disney. Even though it still had the old stuff on their channel, I had lost interest in this channel, and I wasn't sure if any of their stuff that was shown ("So Weird," "Jett Jackson," "The Jersey," etc.) was worth watching.

In 2001, my family and I was watching ABC, and one night, they had an episode of this and "Lizzie McGuire" on "Wonderful World of Disney," and so we watched it (both were music episodes, this being BBMak) and we thought that those shows were so good, that our interest in Disney Channel was regained once again!!!!!

This is a very good show. I often think of it as another version of "Seinfeld," because not only was Louis funny and troublesome, but he had the Kramer poster in his room!!!!!

"Even Stevens" is a great show; a good sequence of characters, doing completely different things, make for an A+ show.

10 stars

Best Disney Show
Cherie_angel133 May 2009
I personally think that Shia LaBeouf is so far the most successful Disney Star. All of the others either suck at acting or ya just suck overall. Hannah Montana is probably the worst Disney Star so far. But anyway this show was actually funny. All the Disney shows try to be funny, some were actually good. Now they are all over rated and have stupid jokes that you never laugh at. Sometimes I feel ashamed watching these shows with my sister. Even Stevens was great, and I love Shia LaBeouf! Look at where he is now! He's an amazing actor and he's extremely cute. Even Stevens was the bomb! And I hope all the newer Disney Shows burn to hell cause really, they just suck.

The pinacle of the Disney Channel era, before Disney got "Friends"ized and The WBized by "The Suite Life"
robert-macc5 January 2024
Teamwork, fam, friendship, bro/sis warmth, romance. This show is a great show. What really sells it is Margo Harshman being Christy Carlson Romano and her bros little sis and their fluff baby. UPN/Warner Bros./WB flagship worthy stuff. Disney has always been great, and if any show evokes the drops of "A dream is a wish your heart" makes and the Disney Channel pop stars and Jump5, it's this show. Shia Labeouf plays Louis Stevens, a creative and over-the-top little bro, who Ren gets bothered by so much. Louis is funny because he manages to troll her, but even through all of that, through thick and thin they're there for each other. This show epitomized what Disney was. And had "Hannah Montana" not went the "Suite Life" route, utilizing KTLA Tribune studios, they could have been that. OK, I'm just saying that in anger. I hate the fact that they used an unpopular studio and couldn't get their hand out of the cookie jar so to speak. But this is a great show. Shia Lebeouf has made a name for himself. But Christy has nothing bad to say because she, although not being as big a name, she's become a big name too and she has a hard-hitting Youtube channel too. And the dad is played by a good actor (he was on "Voyager," so UPN/Warner Bros./WB flagship). The teen "Seinfeld", as Louis has a Kramer poster.

This is a far contrast to "Cheetah Girls" which set the seeds for Disney becoming Tribune and The WB, although it really ddn't start until "Suite Life." But everything about that movie has the ingredients. Not to mention Adrienne Bailon is a joke to her Nuyoricans (being I'm part Nuyorican) and supports Autism Speaks, which hates autistics.

I can't stop laughing!
ggdollzfanatic10 December 2003
I can't stop laughing during this show! watching Even Stevens is the most hilarious 30 minutes of my day. Shia and A.J. make the show fun for the girls to watch. In an extreme sense, it allows an insight to the inner workings of the teenage boys' mind. Christy Carlson-Romano adds a fun flair as well, because her character Ren often foils the boys' plans. Her love life is often a mess, and Louis seems to sense that. He initially seeks to rub more salt in the wound, but ends up consoling Ren in the end. He has a huge heart, that is often misunderstood until the very end of the episode, and we are left loving Louis (until the next time).

Underrated
sugarslushie0622 April 2003
Dude this show is hilarious! No one gives it enough credit! This and Lizzie McGuire are Disney's best work. The characters are perfect. I love Christy Carlson Ramono because she totally makes you think shes Miss Perfect with all A's and captain of cheerleading, etc. And Shia LaBeouf has this way about him that is so believable and funny. The casting was perfect and the acting was spectacular. I'm disappointed that Disney dwells so much on Lizzie McGuire, though. Even Stevens is just as funny, only from a boy AND girls point of view, not just a 13 year old girl. So you should really watch this show, it's worth it
