When Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame, it brought Captain America’s arc to a well-deserved conclusion. However, fans are eagerly awaiting the inevitable day when Chris Evans returns to play Captain America once again, but it likely won’t be anytime soon.
While appearing on Good Morning America to promote the upcoming release of Ghosted, Chris Evans was asked about a possible return as Captain America. “Oh man, you know, as much as I would love to. That was such a special time in my life,” Evans said. “I’m very precious with the character. That’s the problem. I’m so protective of it. To come back, it would have to be for the right reasons and the right timing. It feels a little too soon. Anthony Mackie is Captain America right now. There’s other stories to tell.

Ray Liotta mixed affable identifiability with mobster menace for his role as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. It is one of the reasons the film became the gangster classic it is today. The director got what he wanted from an actor who knew how to give. It was the only time they worked together. But they almost pulled off at least one other job, and it may even have nabbed an extra Oscar. The actor who played it in The Departed certainly got a nomination.
An Americanized remake of the 2002 Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs, The Departed was the first remake of a foreign film to win the Best Picture Academy Award. It was also Scorsese’s first Best Picture win. He didn’t film it in New York, however, where so many of his most signature pieces are set. William Monahan’s screenplay for The Departed was...

Marcus Dunstan has been in the horror business for quite some time. Dunstan and his frequent collaborator Patrick Melton burst onto the scene as the winners of the third season of "Project Greenlight," which helped them make a monster movie called "Feast." Suddenly, the duo were the hottest new horror ticket in town, and it led to their writing of the latter "Saw" films, starting with "Saw IV." The duo have continued creating horror goodness, turning "Feast" into a trilogy, creating the popular film series "The Collector," the reboot comedy sequel "Piranha 3Dd," the Thanksgiving flick "Pilgrim" from Hulu and...

When writer/director Marcus Dunstan teams up with co-writer Patrick Melton, you can expect a violent and often bloody time. Look to The Collector, The Collection, Feast, Into the Dark’s “Pilgrim,” or a few Saw sequels as examples. Their latest, Unhuman, continues their energetic style, applying their savage sense of humor and bloodletting to a John Hughes-style high school scenario. It results in an entertaining twist to […]

What a great title to revisit — John Ford’s ‘Kabuki’ western is less about action and more about form and tradition — especially the way the truth gets plowed under in ‘the West,’ which is of course America reduced to a mythological keepsake. John Wayne, James Stewart and Lee Marvin’s characters seem to know they are playing roles that never change. We might question the values but there’s no denying that said values prevailed as the country’s consensus self-image. Paramount’s new 4K makes a great-looking movie look even better, Pilgrim — and we don’t tolerate no disloyal debates ’bout film grain North of the Picket Wire.

I didn't particularly enjoyed either of the two previous Dan Brown novel adaptations, not The Da Vinci Code (a book that was so bad I had to stop reading it) or Angels and Demons (a book I actually enjoyed and a movie that was even worse than Da Vinci). Next up is Inferno, with Tom Hanks back to star as Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon and Ron Howard back to direct. Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) was already announced as a co-star and today Sony announced three more names joining the cast and they are, in fact, reason to possibly get interested. First off, Jones will star opposite Hanks as Dr. Sienna Brooks, a doctor tending to Langdon at the beginning of the story after he's grazed by a bullet and eventually becomes mixed in his latest mystery drawing from Dante's dark epic poem. amz asin="B00AXIZ4TQ" size...

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron, best known for a wide range of roles from her Oscar-winning performance in 2003’s Monster to her turn as a ‘superhero’ opposite Will Smith and Jason Bateman in Hancock a few years back, is now in talks to lead a new crime thriller project called Cities of Refuge, Deadline report.
The script comes from newcomer Brandon Willer, and has been optioned by Inferno Entertainment, a new production company who seem to be setting their sights pretty damn big in the years to come.
Inferno have one film under their belt already, The Experiment, which starred Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, and Cam Cigandet, all very recognisable faces. And excluding Cities of Refuge, they’ve got three more big-star projects lined up in the next yew years. One is an adaptation of Arabian Nights, to be led by up-and-coming Liam Hemsworth. Ray Liotta has signed onto the mob drama "Cogan's Trade" at Inferno says Risky Biz Blog.

Brandon Routh won't be in the new Zack Snyder-directed Superman, or so we're told. Which is too bad; after meeting resistance when he first got the role, I think a lot of people have grown used to the idea of Mr. Routh as Superman. Earning good will in Scott Pilgrim didn't hurt, through the rather dire-looking Dylan Dog might. Regardless, now he's booked a role in the indie Missing William. He may play opposite real-life wife Courtney Ford, who is in talks for the lead female role. Mr. Routh will be the childhood sweetheart of a woman who is trying to nurse her husband to health after he's injured in a fight. A love triangle naturally develops, "with the woman torn between the brain-damaged husband she loves and the hunky former flame who got away." Kenn Macrae will direct from a script by Daniel McKinnon. [TheWrap] After the break, Ray Liotta...

Six years later, we are still feeling the heat and feeding the fire that we started with Jared Hess’ Napoleon Dynamite. While the popularity of its one-liners died out shortly after its release, the impact of Hess’ film can be felt in chintzy gifts at Urban Outfitters stores as almost a sense of déjà vu. It’s as if the aesthetic appeal of Napoleon’s non-adventure have been destroyed, vaporized and absorbed by our collective culture and subconsciously regurgitated back onto shelves.
That isn’t inherently a bad thing; it just is. And it’s noticeable. In the world of film, particularly so: the number of faux-indie flicks like Junebug and Juno can thank their lucky stars for inviting the world to embrace pastel-hued awkwardness, as can Wes Anderson’s retro stop-motion Fantastic Mr. Fox. It’s not a matter of the content or quality of these movies, but rather,...
