The comedians play companions in their new TV series, The Trip. But their real-life relationship runs far from smoothly
It is somewhere in the region of lunchtime at the Inn at Whitewell, and from the dining room carries the gentle roar of the feast: spoons brush soup plates, wine glasses kiss, and conversation gathers and swells. Outside, it is a sharp, bright day and here in the Trough of Bowland, the light skims across the bare branches and seems to settle among the hills of the Hodder Valley.
Back indoors, sitting beside the log fire, is the comedian Rob Brydon. He is sipping a glass of red wine and surveying the local newspaper, pausing, occasionally, to bask in the warmth.
Into his post-prandial idyll stalks Steve Coogan; taller, sharper, slightly harried, he sits down heavily and scowls. Brydon, impervious, lowers his newspaper. "I have ordered you a sticky toffee pudding,...

New York — It opened with a Phish show, nearly exploded into a (very well-heeled) proto-punk riot, got giddy on a fix of sunshiny Swedish pop, and finally wrapped up with a '50's-tinged tribute. It was the 25th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, back in NYC after a one-year sojourn in Cleveland (where the titular hall actually exists). And while it may have been lacking the star power of previous years' ceremonies — Eminem and Metallica in 2009, Madonna and Justin Timberlake in '08 — it certainly showcased the breadth and depth of this thing we call rock music.

A music video in accompaniment of Il Divo's cover of "The Winner Takes It All" has arrived. The video is shot during an event and features the vocal group's live on-stage performance.
"Winner Takes It All" is a 1980 song performed by Swedish pop group Abba. The song, covered by Il Divo, is renamed "The Winner Takes It All (Va Todo Al Ganador)" and confirmed to appear on their new album "The Promise". Produced by Steve Mac, the effort will be released globally on November 10, except in the U.S. and Canada, where it is scheduled to be dropped on November 18, and in Japan on November 26.
Beside "Winner Takes It All", other cover songs set to be among other tracks on the upcoming record include Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "The Power of Love" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". Speaking of their still-in-the-work project, Il Divo's member, David Miller, said, "People might be surprised by this album.

Mamma Mia!
Starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth
Directed by Phyllida Lloyd
Rated PG-13
I have decided to not stop writing my review of Mamma Mia! until I run out of bad things to say about it. Pack a lunch; you're going to be here a while.
First, I should be a champ and tell you what I liked about it. Ok, fair enough: Greece looks absolutely beautiful whenever this film was shot; though she hasn't needed to be impressive in her past few roles, Meryl Streep clearly still has that thing that only she has, especially when she belts out the only truly worthwhile musical number in the movie, "The Winner Takes it All;" and Amanda Seyfried (Big Love) is incredibly exuberant and happy to be here.
And now that that's out of the way...
