MEGALOMANIAC THRILLER
J. Steed30 October 1999
Ridiculous and pretentious thriller with a standard plot of corruption within the police force (all to do with hard drugs of course). If the simple story line would have been made into a routine thriller, maybe something amusing would have come out of it. But director Rola must have had some cocaine himself during the making of the film: "I am going to make a GREAT film!". He came up with annoying cinematography with slow, fast and stop motion and other electronic tricks; he should have given the film some ordinary excitement in stead. Anyhow, Rola surely suffers from megalomania. Rola's direction is poor, not in the least of his cast; there is some terrible acting along the way with Iris Berben awful as awful can be.

To add to the tedium there is very bad music that sounds as if we are viewing a thriller of epic proportions. It seems as a 1000 of these instruments were used: sometimes the dialogue is hardly audible. On the other hand: most of the dialogue is thàt trite, that the viewer probably does not miss much. You would not miss ànything when skipping this film.
