Godfrey Ho strikes again
phillip-5813 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This film made some sort of weird sense - that is no sense at all - once I realised the producer Tomas Ta(o)ng was a pseudonym for Godfrey Ho. The director is named as John King who only made this film and is probably another false name. The dubbing, acting and story of this are so bad that it has its own fascination with an exorcist summoning the dead and one character killed by a sedan chair (you have to see it to believe it). The final fight is about 15 minutes long and is actually quite fun. With one character named Fat Ho and moments of insane cross dressing you probably get the general idea. For mainstream fans this is a curiosity, perhaps best appreciated with several mates and a crate of something that can only make this film seem better than it was ever meant to be. My DVD is the 85 minute version from Hong Kong Connection.

Cheap, inane, and bizarre
Leofwine_draca17 September 2016
INVINCIBLE OBSESSED FIGHTER is your run of the mill kung fu film for the most part, with the odd addition of some cult and wacky elements to the plot which makes it stand out a little from the crowd. Sadly it's so cheap and slapdash overall that it's a film that's difficult to enjoy, which is no surprise given that Tomas Tang directs under a pseudonym.

The story is about the usual hunt for stolen treasure and there's plenty of low rent action to help the running time fly past. The film seems to have been shot or produced in South Korea like so many IFD films and it stars the infamously-named Elton Chong to boot. Sadly, INVINCIBLE OBSESSED FIGHTER is constrained by a very low budget and not very good fight scenes, which is a bit of a problem when there are so many of them. An interlude involving a crazy maggot-eating priest and his army of the dead is a highlight, as are the lowbrow cross-dressing antics of some of the cast.

Invincible Obsessed Fighter!
BandSAboutMovies26 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Directed by Kim Jung-yong and starring Elton Chong - which may be my favorite martial arts movie actor name other than Casanova Wong - this is the tale of Chuck, an expert in swords and the 13 Shaolin styles. Now, he must battle Eagle, the henchman of General Ching and the killer of his master Leon Chan.

Chong is a Jackie Chan clone, given to humorous over cranked fights and a lot of serious martial arts movies fans hate all of his movies. This also has zombies in it out of nowhere, zombies that rise out of maggots no less. Nobody really has a name, things just happen and, well, this was on third on USA Up All Night in the kind of timeslot where I can only imagine people were either post-coitus, post-drinking or the drugs were kicking in.

There's a bad guy named Fat Ho and lots of discussion of Eight Chopper Fist as a fighting style.

So bad that its the best movie I've ever seen
Jjjkurosu4 September 2004
I looove really bad kung-fu movies, and up to this day, this is the most gut-bustlingly hilarious one I've seen. The fact that one of the characters is named "Fat Ho" alone makes it pure genius. In this movie, you get terrible dubbing, a storyline that barely makes sense, and some actually not bad fight sequences. The wire work is especially cartoony however, which only makes everything better, since its less like 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', and more like one of those looney tunes cartoons where they run off a cliff and don't plummet to their death until they actually notice they ran off the cliff. Anyways, see this movie now!

The best kind of awful!
jcbatz26 October 2000
This movie is terrible in the best possible way. If you are a fan of bad Kung-fu, this movie is hands down the best. The only copy I know of is with my old high school buddy, taped off of USA at some ungodly hour.

This movie contains all the best of horrible Kung-fu. Reused sequences (as many as four times in a single fight scene), comical names (Fat Ho), and a Ghost Fighter who summons the "Dead Evil." The denouement is non-existent. The good guy beats up the bad guy, and the movie stops. What else do you need from a movie?

Fat Hoes, Ghost Fighters, and Eagles, Oh My!!!
ashields-111 February 2002
Did you know you can actually buy this movie!! I did, the title just reeled me in with its mystical power. It was this or Chess Boxing Matrix. It was unclear to me who really is the Invincible Obsessed Fighter, but one thing was clear, most of the plot was removed from this movie to make time for the gambling human interest side story of the century!!! What a piece of work, the only way I could tell the difference between characters was the clothes they wore. Oh and Fat Ho dies before the end of the opening credits, fat load of good his 8 chopper fist did him

Wow
grefly738 January 2002
How do you rate a movie like this? Was I totally engrossed, with nail-biting tension? No. Was I dumbfounded? Yes. Looking at the 'cinema' of this movie, this doesn't deserve a 1. But, looking at it from the bad kung-fu fan perspective, it is a classic. Horrible acting, implausible action, schizophrenic editing, and dialog that makes you wonder if the over-dub actors actually had a script or were improvising. This is to kung-fu movies as Ator is to bad barbarian films: a pinnacle of the worst. For a fun evening, I highly recommend.

Heart worming
Not warming.worming. as in, after you watch this, you probably want to get de-wormed. This is uniquely incoherent even in this genre. About half way through I asked my wife if she thought it was supposed to be a comedy. She was asleep. I still don't know what it was.about. I kept hoping it might get better and then it didn't.

The comedy in this film makes the Three Stooges look like geniuses in comparison! Plus, the print and dubbing are pretty lousy.
planktonrules30 November 2010
There are three basic types of martial arts films. The good ones generally have crisp prints and captioning instead of dubbing. And, most importantly, they have great martial arts action and are made by highly skilled and choreographed actors/martial artists. Many others, however, are quite lousy with horrible dubbing, ridiculous stories, prints that look like they have been rotting in a musty closet for centuries. And, most importantly, the martial arts is terrible--with blows clearly coming no where near connecting. They are chock full of punching and kicking sounds consisting of lots of celery being smashed and sticks being slapped. Of course there is the third category of films that fall a bit towards the middle--deficient in one or more areas but not all that bad in others. These films most often actually were originally good films but were ruined by inept dubbing and horrible prints--but the action and choreography is not complete and total crap.

In this final category is where I would place "Invincible Obsessed Fighter". The kung fu is clearly competent and the action very, very fast-paced. But it's also accompanied by more celery twisting and slapping sound effects than you'll find in two or three bad martial arts films put together. And, sadly, the film has dumb voice actors and the print is amazingly poor considering the movie isn't that old. I truly think the DVD was made by filming an old videotape--as the picture clearly is cropped. As a result, this is NOT a film to watch around people who cannot appreciate this sort of effort--your friends and family will just keep asking you 'why do you watch this crap?!'--and that gets pretty old after a while! An additional problem is one I have seen in quite a few martial arts films. When they try to be funny, so many times they are painfully unfunny--and this film clearly is not funny even though it tries with countless goofy faces and lots of mugging that make the Three Stooges look like thespians in comparison!! Some actors, such as Jackie Chan, can do humor AND martial arts--most films in the genre, however, should probably just stick to the action!! I would discuss the plot some, but frankly it didn't seem to have all that much plot--mostly a lot of fighting and goofy comedy.

In its present crappy form, I'd give this film a 3 (and that's being VERY charitable). If it is available without the crappy dubbing and with a decent print, I would probably give the film a 5--it's not bad...but also not very good either.

Strange movie with some kind of funny fighting scenes
r_jazi3 July 2015
I do not even know if I should laugh or cry! At some scenes I had to laugh so hard because the fights are so unreal but also very funny. The story is somehow strange.. It was really hard to understand the point of the movie but then I just gave up and tried to just take it easy and watch till the end...which was very hard. The rest of the movie was a joke. I did not understand any proper sentence and the actors...!!So bad! I did not know anything about that movie, I just like martial arts so I thought that would be kind of cool to watch. Fail! If you are really unemployed and love martial arts movies (you really have to love those kind of movies) then go ahead and watch it...but do not expect too much...

crazy as it gets
yusufzakariya7 March 2005
When i saw magnificent natural fist, i seriously thought it couldn't get much more crazy.......well i certainly will eat my hat. this film is sick, crazy film with wicked soundtrack. no red nosed cook in this though, shame that would have boosted it to a nine on my tables. the end fight is probably the most unoriginal fight seen I've ever seen, punching girls into trees and punchin his head so hard it actually spins around making creaky door noise, yeah smashed it mate! the fighting in the film isn't too good really but the story line makes up for it, and so does the non stop craziness that seems to follow Elton wherever he goes........

Seriously, there is no reason to watch this movie
ckormos112 February 2017
The protection gang warms up by beating the street merchants. Then they accuse a man of being a follower of some general and they fight. Our man wins. He is informed about some treasure and a man is coming to help him assist the general. Some new guy arrives and fights his way to the head of the protection gang. He is hired to assassinate the general's man. He easily kills the man.

Unfortunately it doesn't end right there. Elton Chong is the lead actor as the man's son and he says "I know what to do." Instead of finding out what that is the next few scenes involve a hungry old guy trying to get some food. Mike Wong Lung then shows his skills by beating up the protection gang. Then he becomes a fortune teller. Then Elton is back and what follows is a gambling sequence. It is just sequence after sequence of random stuff with scant coherence. At this point the viewer can only hope the fights make it worthwhile. Though the fights have good power and focus they quickly become the same thing over and over again.

I am amazed by the number of reviews here for this movie. It seems at least ten people have actually watched this and that is about ten too many. Plus the only existing copy, even if bought on DVD, is just a VHS recording of a television broadcast.

I watched this once and I will never watch it again. I rate it way below average for the year and genre.

Great movie
skullfire-4801222 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a must see for Kung Fu fans, it's fun, action packed and possibly has the most spinning back roundhouse kicks put in a movie than any other in cinematic history. I may have to revisit just to count them all.

To hell with the plot. This movie is FUN!
FriendGod25 May 2021
The voice actors are trolling their asses off and its insanely funny. Action packed (there's a great , high-quality fight every 3 minutes), great choreography, great old fashion Kung-fu mayhem. Get your freinds, get your intoxicants and just chill. This movie is made for week-ends. I loved it.
