- Errikos, a poor gas station employee and football fan, is in love with Marina but needs to win money from football prognostics in order to be able to marry her.
- Madly in love with beautiful Marina, the graceful only daughter of pensioner, Grigoris, the hard-working petrol station attendant and ardent supporter of Panathinaikos Football Club, Errikos Delaportas, is with his back to the wall. Leading a hand-to-mouth existence, impecunious Errikos dreams of winning the football pools to earn enough money to walk down the aisle with his long-term sweetheart; however, Marina, and her parents, are at the end of their tether. Now, whether he likes it or not, Marina has given Errikos an urgent ultimatum: he is to ask her father for her hand in marriage within a few days, or lose her forever. In the meantime, Errikos decides to attend a critical football game to blow off steam, unbeknownst to him that he is rubbing shoulders with Grigoris, the number one fan of Olympiacos Football Club.
