Not a masterpiece, but a laugh or two
raymond-1525 September 2000
The introductory credits (watch for them!) set the cheeky mood of this very light-hearted romantic comedy. Plumber Tim, driving a red van, gives Flora a lift. Tim is going to be married in three days time and Flora is heading for a job in a public library. Their long journey is beset with misadventures beginning with the loss of a cow (an unusual wedding present given to Tim by an eccentric aunt). Oliver Reinhard is just so right for the frustrated Tim. He plays the part to perfection. Not so for Isabella Parkinson as the bossy little Flora. I thought her acting was less convincing. But for all that, it's a situation comedy ( and a road film) which has some funny scenes e.g trying to hide a big cow like Hannah inside a bedroom of a top-class hotel. There's a love-hate relationship between the two main characters which is maintained throughout the long journey but which in the end sorts out their true feelings for each other.

A pleasing trip following the travels of a wedding present.

What else could go wrong? Savings and papers stolen, stranded, misplacing a very large wedding present, find you've been using your younger sister as a role model. Love and cow conquers all! Worth a trip to the flicks.
