The 75-year-old magician and his 55-year-old wife and former assistant - who have been married for 26 years - are reportedly in last minute talks with Channel 5 producers to take part in the summer series on August 18.

Paul Daniels has claimed that TV bosses should start freeing up slots for professional performers. The magician, who fronted The Paul Daniels Magic Show on the BBC between 1979 and 1994, claimed that reality competitions are currently giving too much exposure to untrained acts.
