The Abruzzo set was also the scene of a frightening accident, fortunately without serious consequences: during the shooting of the chase between the steering wheel seized by Aldo and the police vehicles, one of the two helicopters used had an engine failure and, in an attempt to making a emergency landing, hit the roof of one of the cars in the race, causing it to overturn and causing the slight injury of one of the actors on board.
Many of the mountain scenes are shot in Abruzzo, in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, in particular in Campo Imperatore
Filming began on July 27, 1998. The first part of the film, set in Milan, was actually shot mostly in Rome; only a couple of scenes were shot in Milan,
The film grossed 46.000.000.000 Italian lire and is the trio's second highest box office success after Chiedimi se sono felice (2000).
The gangster movie shown to prisoners is played by the same trio Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo in the roles respectively of gangsters Al, John and Jack. The same sketch already appeared in the trio's debut movie Tre uomini e una gamba (1997). The sketch was then adapted into a full movie, La leggenda di Al, John e Jack (2002).
