Are we on the verge of the Bot-apocalyspe? Will artificial intelligence take over the world and find humans unnecessary?
No, we’re not talking about a bad sci-fi movie, we’re talking about Bones Season 12 Episode 2.
In Ami’s defense, she was kind of cute, for a robot. I loved the way she could read a person’s body language and facial expressions and determine what they were feeling.
Can they make an app for that? What if we could all scan one another and know what someone is feeling instead of having to guess? I just don’t know if that would help us understand one another better or cause more hurt feelings than it avoids.
If anything, this installment showed that technology in itself is not good or bad, it’s how humans choose to use it.
Ian’s artificial intelligence could have been made into robots to help autistic children,...

Cases that involve the Jeffersonian employees can be either hit or miss.
"The Stiff in the Cliff" that was the focus of Bones Season 11 Episode 20 was a hit.
While I'm skeptical of any reasoning that would have kept Dr. Clark Edison from putting such a prestigious and chat-worthy experience onto his resume, at least it made sense that someone studying as he was would have joined that type of archeological team.
It was even fun how the case was introduced, with Brennan and Christine watching TV, even though mom and dad had already decided no TV on school nights.
Christine: What's cannibalize?
Brennan: Sweetheart, it's just when people eat other people.

Matt Damon spent Monday in Woolwich, south east London, filming scenes from the upcoming "Jason Bourne" film. The scene featured Greek-language signs and transformed some of the streets into a bustling Greek cityscape, check out the link for heaps of photos of Damon shooting his scenes. Map of Bones
"Black Panther" scribe Joe Robert Cole has come onboard to pen the script for "Map of Bones," the film adaptation of the James Rollins 2005 novel for Lionsgate. John Sacchi, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing.
The story centers on the bones of the three Magi who paid homage to the newborn Jesus Christ. The story starts at a crowded service in Germany when armed intruders in monks' robes unleash a nightmare of destruction, and its up to a covert branch of the U.S. Defense department to discover the truth.

One of the things I really like about director Ernest Dickerson is that he has no qualms nor shame about being considered a "genre” director - the term used for directors who specialize in genres such as horror, suspense and action. Take a look at his very impressive and extensive list of directing jobs in both films and television, and you'll see credits such as "Surviving The Game," "Bones," "Never Die alone," "The 4400," "Under the Dome," and "Dexter." And I don’t need to tell you about his stellar work on the AMC's "The Walking Dead" for which has directed several episodes, many considered the most...

Crime Wave
Written and directed by John Paizs
1985, Canada
A married couple attempt to rob a house while making a door-to-door sales call: one pitches the customer, the other fakes a trip to the washroom and searches for valuables. When their cover is blown, the husband bludgeons the man to death with a glass candy dish, and sticks a broom in the woman’s wheelchair spokes before ramming Milk-Bones down her throat. What villains! And all in the name of becoming the top sales team in the nation—that is until they’re gunned down by police at the National Sales Awards ceremony: a pitch-perfect ending to their violent crime wave.
The above is one of many zany and creative ideas Steven Penny (played by writer, director, producer, John Paizs) has for a color crime film he wants to make. The only problem is that he has no middle.

Boardwalk Empire, “Devil You Know”
Written by Howard Korder
Directed by Jeremy Podeswa
Aired October 12, 2014
After four seasons of deliberately paced, character-based storytelling, Boardwalk Empire wasn’t going to change its approach in its final truncated season. Instead of introducing new intrigues or foes, the series used much of its time to reflect on the paths that brought Nucky and the other main characters to this point and to say an extended goodbye to the people and world of the show. With Nucky facing off against well known historical figures, an air of doom pervades much of the final episodes before they reach their poetic, but inevitable conclusion. More intriguing is the antepenultimate episode, “Devil You Know”, which says goodbye to two of the series’ most colorful characters and powerful actors, Michael Shannon’s George Mueller/Nelson Van Alden and Michael K. Williams’ Chalky White. Shannon’s intense and frequently...

Sony Pictures has confirmed that starting at 10am Pacific time today, you will be able to rent James Franco and Seth Rogen's comedy The Interview on YouTube, Google Play, and Xbox for only $5.99. You will also have the option to buy it for $14.99 which is pretty much the cost of admission for seeing a movie here in Los Angeles. There's also an official website that has been set up for anyone who may not have access to those services. There have been talks of the film being made available on Netflix in the next few days as well, but there's no confirmation of that yet. It's good to see that Sony didn't let the hackers win. Enjoy the movie! Hopefully it was worth all the insanity.
If you would rather watch the movie in theaters, below you'll find a full list of where the movie will be playing on...

Refresh for latest… Here’s a list of theaters confirmed to be showing Sony’s The Interview on Christmas Day after the studio worked with indie chains on a release plan finalized this morning. The venues have a deadline of 6 Pm Pt today to decide whether to run the movie on December 25, as Sony must send theaters the movie hard drives in time to make Christmas Day screenings. Some theaters are booking the film for later in the month or into January, so that deadline isn’t looming as large. As of 4 Pm, more than 200 theaters had signed on.
This is all happening fast so this list will continue to grow. We’re hearing that there are still internal discussions among art houses about whether to add the pic to their schedules, with security and previous commitments among the concerns. Some of the theaters had planned to be dark on Christmas Day,...

The highly celebrated 200th episode of ?Bones? is a farcical romp reminiscent of the cinematography and aesthetic of Hitchcock?s North by Northwest and the chemistry-ridden repartee of McTiernan?s The Thomas Crown Affair during which, Brennan is reimagined as an officer with the Lapd while Booth is one of the best jewel thieves in the business. All other Bones universe personalities are repurposed as maids, photojournalists, lounge singers, destitute playboys, waiters, museum paleontologists, getaway pilots and secretaries in a dreamscape dramedy that serves as a love letter from the Bones fairies to their 17 million fans worldwide who have stuck by them through a decade of love and loyalty. Here are our favorite moments from the momentous event.

After lengthy negotiations, Fox‘s musical dramedy Glee has been picked up for next season. And the season after that. The network has given a two-year renewal to the series for Seasons 5 and 6. The negotiations took longer because the network starts footing the bill after Season 4. Given the complications of the talks, a two-year pickup is common practice so the network won’t have to do it again next year. Even if Glee‘s ratings continue to slip, the dramedy has an off-network syndication deal with Oxygen, which makes a longer run attractive for Fox sibling 20th TV, the studio that produces Glee with Ryan Murphy TV. Glee now joins veteran Bones, freshman drama The Following and comedies New Girl, The Mindy Project and Raising Hope, which all have been renewed for next season. “Glee debuted as the first and only successful musical comedy series on television, and more than four years later,...

She actually passed on December 7, but I only just got word of it over the weekend. Jeni LeGon (August 14, 1916 – December 7, 2012) was one of the first African American women in tap dance to develop a career as a soloist. She also had a lengthy onscreen (in film and TV), one that spanned over 65 years, starting in 1936 appearing as a cabaret dancer in Dishonour Bright, to 2001's Ernest Dickerson-directed horror movie, Bones. She also did a 2-season stint on The Amos 'n Andy Show, from 1951 to 1953, appearing in 6 episodes in total. But she'll liekly be best remembered for her musical and dance talents. From the American Tap Dance Foundation:...

Fantasy unlocks the mind to the most interesting characters and worlds you could only dream of. A Goblin’s Tale, an indie short film by Peter Dukes starring Radio Disney star Tiffany Giardina, is a wonderful example of how fantasy tickles the imagination.
Peter Dukes is an independent filmmaker working under the banner of Dream Seekers Productions, the production company he started with his sister, Aubrey Dukes, who has VFX work on Thor and Captain America under her belt. I had the opportunity to speak with Peter Dukes on how this short came about and how he managed to pull of the special effects in a limited budget. A word of warning, there are spoilers right off the top in this interview! Watch A Goblin’s Tale here and check out our conversation below:

Most Ironic Editing: Ticked at fellow Survivor Jonas, Tarzan declared “I can’t look at that face anymore!”… as viewers were “treated” to a show of the older man’s blue-briefs-clad butt.
Best Mocking: The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart took The Last Word’s Lawrence O’Donnell (whose broadcast is feeling more and more like Nancy Grace’s… and that ain’t a good thing) to task for his overheated grilling of an empty chair in which Trayvon Martin’s attorney was supposed to be sitting.
The Hope-For-The-Future Award Goes To…: Community, whose ratings since returning are stronger despite stiff competition. Please, NBC, don’t take Greendale away from us!
Grossest Reality Show Yet: Lifetime’s 7 Days Of Sex encourages couples who are on the brink of divorce to, as the title suggests, have sex every night for a week. Wonder if they stipulate that it has to be with one another?...

Continuing its festival run this week at SXSW, following its Berlin premiere, is a remarkable Irish film, "Dollhouse," directed by Kirsten Sheridan. The trippy, pulsing story of a home invasion scenario that is by turns scary, funny and surreal (you can read our review here), the film gained a special mention in Berlin, which is also where we caught up with its director.
Sheridan was previously nominated for an original screenplay Oscar (for co-writing her father Jim Sheridan's "In America"), and gained a lot of positive notice for her debut feature, the Cillian Murphy breakout "Disco Pigs." Following that was a perhaps ill-advised foray into Hollywood for the schmaltzy "August Rush" (about which she speaks candidly below). With "Dollhouse" only her third feature, and a startling departure from both of her previous outings, we sincerely hope the Dublin-based filmmaker won't leave it so long till her next. As our...

We’re a few weeks into the new season and the greatness just keeps on coming. No, I’m not talking about me, but I’m flattered.
I’m talking about TV, silly. And judging by the volume of your tweets and e-mails, you’re enjoying it as much as I am.
Special thanks to everyone who has been sending me tweets and e-mailing questions as you tune into new episodes of your favorite shows. They keep me entertained when I’m bored and give me something to read when I’m trying to ignore someone on the elevator. Keep it up!

The schedule is a little crazy, as usual, but makes for some interesting decisions. I've already broken down each network and their shows, but now let's look at how the full schedule shapes up.

Pam Grier You and I know all too well there has been plenty of times that you've either sat in a darkened theater or from the confines of your comfy couch and wanted to scream at a character in a horror film "what the hell are you doing?" or some people might replace the hell part with "fu*k". I remember sitting in the theater and wanting to yell at a victim to be in Scream 4, because she was perfectly safe sitting in her car, but no, she had to get out of her car and try to run for her life. She was perfectly safe! Why would she do such a moronic thing? Or as well all know to well, it seems like about a fourth of the teenage population must trek on out to Camp Crystal Lake to have sex in the middle of forest and then...

Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg may be a master of rhyme, but he's no stranger to the world of fine cinema. Snoop parlayed his music career into starring roles in such films as "Training Day," "Bones," "The Wash" and "Starsky & Hutch." Heck, he even found a way to show up in the mother of reality television, "The Real Cancun." Snoop knows show business.
Now, he's set his sights on helping the next generation of eager entertainment wunderkinds. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Snoop is teaming up with newcomer Wiz Khalifa on "High School," a new movie that the rapper calls "a comedy stoner movie, a little something for the stoners." Meaning... there's a little extra emphasis on the "high" part.
The project blossomed from Snoop and Wiz's collaborative efforts and friendship. Both musicians have albums on the way (Wiz's debut "Rolling Papers" bows on March 29, while Snoop's "Doggumentary" lands the same...

Hey, it’s Halloween weekend! Not to be a party pooper, but, frankly, I really could care less… So, don’t look for any pictures of me in a Blacula costume or some shit like that, because it’s not happening!
I hear Sergio is going to some party in Chi-town dressed as Armond White!
Anywho… all kidding aside… the horror film genre is one in which you don’t find much action where black directors and actors are concerned. I know Ice Cube said recently that, in this business, for black talent, comedy is the path of least resistance, which, while it might sound like bullshit to the ear, actually is easily proven when you consider the kinds of “black films” Hollywood often finances.
Sure, there’ve been a few “black horror films” in years past, but few that I can truly call seminal pieces of work. There’s Bill Gunn’s landmark film,...

Anyone happen to catch actress Regina King’s op-ed on The Huffington Post today, titled, The Emmys: As White As Ever?
Is my hair black? Nothing new here. The same brand of polemic, lambasting the Emmys and its alleged discriminating ways. We’ve heard it all before, and, quite frankly, I’m tired of reading these statements expressing dissatisfaction with the state of things. They accomplish little to nothing. Yet successive years see repeated attempts, and I’m sure this one won’t be the last.
When do words like these eventually turn into action? As the age-old, trite aphorism goes… actions speak louder than words! No, I’m not trying to suppress Regina King, and all the other talented men and women of all colors who have voiced their frustrations with the entertainment industry, broadly. It’s their First Amendment right. And I do understand and empathize with their plight.

Now that ABC, NBC, Fox, CBS, and The CW have all put their cards on the table, the Fall 2010 TV schedule is locked down.
Some big changes are coming -- particularly at NBC, where Jay Leno freed up five hours of primetime realty by moving back into his "Tonight Show" seat. With 13 new pickups (eight for fall and five more for midseason), NBC hopes to recover from a year full of media scrutiny and audience criticism.
In a surprising move, CBS made the decision to move their most-watched comedy, "The Big Bang Theory," to 8 p.m. Thursdays, challenging NBC's Thursday night comedy block. Following that at 8:30 p.m. is the first ever television show whose title can not be said on air, the hotly anticipated Twitter-based "$#*! My Dad Says" with William Shatner.

The upfronts are done, the networks' schedules for fall are set (for the moment, anyway) and the marketing campaigns are starting. So you know what? It's time to start looking ahead to what the fall might bring.
Now, we haven't seen more than a few minutes of any of the two dozen new series that will be hitting the air come fall, so we're not going to be handicapping their individual chances just yet. But in looking at the schedule as it's currently composed, there could be several interesting ratings clashes shaping up when the 2010-11 season begins. Here are a few of them.
Mondays at 10: Cops vs. cops vs. cops
ABC's "Castle," which saw its ratings grow this season and has a seriously loyal fan base, is now the incumbent in the 10 p.m. Et Monday slot since CBS moved "CSI: Miami" to Sundays. It will be facing...

Six years after releasing "Till Death Do Us Part" in 2004, Cypress Hill finally make a comeback with a new album "Rise Up" this year. The Latino group are gearing to drop their next studio installment in the U.S. on April 20.
In this effort, the band include rock sound like they first did in 2000 "Skull & Bones" which led them return to the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 200 after failing to crack the list with its predecessor. Instead of separating the rap and rock music in a 2-disc album however, they blend the different sounds into one single-disc set.
On how they came up with such idea, the band's member B-Real told AOL, "We did the bulk of it [the album], but after we got halfway, we said, 'Let's try some different things'." One of the featured guests in the album are Mike Shinoda of the Linkin Park.
He continued, "We thought we should try collaborating with Tom Morello,...

Considering how ubiquitous and consistently excellent he has been for the length of his career, it's easy to take Snoop Dogg for granted. But you shouldn't, because not only has the man born Calvin Broadus released some of the most iconic hip-hop tracks of the past 20 years ("Gin and Juice," "Murder Was the Case," "Drop It Like It's Hot," "Beautiful" and "Sensual Seduction" among them), but he has also been a movie star ("Starsky and Hutch," "Bones"), a TV icon ("Doggy Fizzle Televizzle" and "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood") and a master of the endorsement (which run from St. Ides malt liquor to Snoop-themed action figures).
He wasn't always a media mogul. In the beginning, he was just a hungry kid with a unique flow who rapped all over Dr. Dre's The Chronic. He still has that same voice (it's a rare mix of hard and sweet that few others...

Last year — even before James Franco made his foray into daytime TV on "General Hospital" — Snoop Dogg paid a visit to the fictional town of Llanview, Pennsylvania, the setting of the venerable soap opera "One Life to Live." Not only did he perform two songs from Ego Trippin' over a pair of episodes on the show, but he also acted in some scenes with the cast. He'll be back next month on February 24 for another visit to the show, this time to perform "I Wanna Rock." His return will also allow for his remix of the show's theme song.
In fact, Snoop has already shot his bits on the show, and he posted some behind-the-scenes footage to his official YouTube account. While it doesn't seem like life on set with Snoop Dogg is terrifically productive, it certainly seems like the veteran rapper is enjoying himself (and the rest of the...

Since Wednesday night's unveiling of the 2010 Grammy Awards nominations, most of the conversations have been about the three-way dance between Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Beyonceé, the trio of women who lead the way in the most important categories (those being Song, Record and Album of the Year). But there are plenty of other competitions that provide intriguing showdowns between artists. Here are the four that we will be talking about until the show, which will air live on January 31, 2010.

Next Tuesday, Snoop Dogg will unleash his latest studio effort when Malice N Wonderland hits the streets. Marking his return to Priority Records, Malice is Snoop's first album of all-original material since 2008's Ego Trippin, and is a return to some familiar territory, steeped within a story-driven concept. No stranger to genre fare with Bones and Snoop Dogg's Hood Of Horror to his credit, the new album finds the rapper taking on the role of Malice, which Rolling Stone describes as a "Batman-with-corn rows character who attempts to reassemble his old crew of troublemakers to help overthrow the dictator of Wonderland". Fangoria Musick has the trailer for the "mini movie" (set for a 2010 release) below, along with the first music video "I Want to Rock."
The entire Malice N Wonderland album is now up for streaming on Snoop's MySpace page, and you can pre-order the album by clicking here.

Hip-Hop legend & multimedia mogul Snoop Dogg revealed the trailer to his upcoming short film, the urban fantasy-thriller Malice N Wonderland (tied to the soon-to-drop CD of the same name), on Rolling Stone's official site this week, and if the footage on display is any indication, we're in for a sexed-up bloodbath with some top-drawer talent, including Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx. Dig below the fold to find out more about the film and the album... From the look of the trailer it seems the Doggfather is treading similar ground to his 2001 supernatural revenge thriller Bones, playing what Rolling Stone describes as "Batman-with-corn-rows" superhero (though apparently not a ghost this time) in the title role as a...

At long last, the wild rumpus can start now that Spike Jonze's "Where The Wild Things Are" is hitting movie theaters this weekend. Adapted from the beloved Maurice Sendak children's novel, "Wild Things" focuses on young Max, an imaginative boy that travels to a far land filled with menacing looking monsters—but at their core, these creatures are a lot friendlier than their gruff exteriors would have you believe.
In comic books, there is no shortage of similar characters that are ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside—or, at the very least, characters that are misunderstood simply because of their appearance.
As a testament to this, here's a list of five of the most misinterpreted monsters in the comic book world.

Chicago – I am an unabashed junkie of anthology horror shows and will gladly debate with you why “The Twilight Zone” is the best show of all time before we get to discussing “The Outer Limits,” “Amazing Stories,” and “Tales From the Crypt.” Naturally, I was a big fan of Showtime’s “Masters of Horror” and was intrigued when a lot of that series’ major players jumped to NBC for “Fear Itself”. The show was a ratings failure and got very little buzz and the first season DVD makes it clear why. Even for an anthology show fan, this is a tough sell.
DVD Rating: 2.0/5.0 “Fear Itself” features thirteen episodes that aired on NBC during the summer of 2008. Like “Masters of Horror” (both shows were produced by the legendary Mick Garris), each episode was directed by a different horror writer and director. When a TV series whose broadcast run got nipped in the bud re-emerges on DVD in its entirety, the hope is always that it will allow for the discovery of buried treasures. This is particularly so in the case of Fear Itself, since each of its 13 episodes was helmed by a different director, and only eight got aired before NBC quietly dropped it from the schedule in summer 2008.
Lionsgate’s new four-disc set, however, reveals that Fear Itself’s best stuff actually did make it to the tube the first time around, most notably the contributions by genre faves Stuart Gordon and Larry Fessenden. You can check out our previous reviews of the original eight via these links:
