"Auf geht's" is a German 10-minute short film from 1956, so this one has its 60th anniversary today. The director is Ferdinand Khittl and if you have seen some of his other works, you will definitely find this one here much lighter material. No scientific deep approach this time. The writer and narrator is Just Scheu and for him this was his last career effort as he died around the time this got released. It is all about the Oktoberfest. we see activities there (not just the drinking), people interact with each other and everybody just basically having a good time. Apart from the quality and the fact that this it is easy to see that this is a fairly old film, the scenes we see in here really could also be from the year 2016 to be honest. A whole lot may have changed in Germany over the second half of the 20th century, but at the Oktoberfest, it still looks pretty much exactly the same. Luckily, filmmaking has also changed for the better as the 1950s and 1960s in (West) Germany were fairly disappointing when it comes to movie-making. Maybe this is a good watch for all the huge Oktoberfest fans, but everybody else can skip it. Neither the action is too interesting and the comedy is also fairly weak to be honest when it comes to the narrator's references. I don't recommend the watch and I am glad it was that short.
