The stunt took weeks of preparation. Building a tank. Training with freedivers and magicians. Developing the filming schedule.
The end result of the effort, a new episode of YouTube star Michelle Khare’s series Challenge Accepted in which she attempted to recreate Harry Houdini’s deadliest trick, has since garnered more than 4.5 million views on YouTube.
The final product has a production quality that would rival what’s on “traditional” TV (in fact, magician David Blaine attempted a similar stunt for a 2006 primetime ABC special), but Khare produced the episode herself, for her YouTube audience.
“For Challenge Accepted because we release very infrequently — unlike a normal season of television, it’s about 10 to 15 episodes a year — and within each of those episodes, we are representing a unique community,” Khare says in an interview. “So for example, in the video where I attempted Harry Houdini’s deadliest magic trick, we’re...

If Criterion24/7 hasn’t completely colonized your attention every time you open the Channel––this is to say: if you’re stronger than me––their May lineup may be of interest. First and foremost I’m happy to see a Michael Roemer triple-feature: his superlative Nothing But a Man, arriving in a Criterion Edition, and the recently rediscovered The Plot Against Harry and Vengeance is Mine, three distinct features that suggest a long-lost voice of American movies. Meanwhile, Nobuhiko Obayashi’s Antiwar Trilogy four by Sara Driver, and a wide collection from Ayoka Chenzira fill out the auteurist sets.
Series-wise, a highlight of 1999 goes beyond the well-established canon with films like Trick and Bye Bye Africa, while of course including Sofia Coppola, Michael Mann, Scorsese, and Claire Denis. Article 370 Box Office Collection: Yami Gautam’s Film Earning After 28 Days (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Article 370 is strongly holding the fort at the box office. While big-ticket Bollywood extravaganzas are always welcome to set the box office ringing and get to that 500 Crore Club, it’s also heartening when controlled budgeted films like Article 370 arrive and create a splash.
After all, one tends to root for an underdog, and when a film like this arrives, which is a geopolitical drama told in a very non-filmy way, it is embraced wholeheartedly. That’s what makes this Yami Gautam film special since it’s still holding so well after being in theatres for four weeks.
In the week gone by, despite the release of Yodha and Kung Fu Panda 4, it held well enough to accumulate a further 4.77 crore. These are all the bonus numbers that are coming for the film, which has already accomplished 75 crore.

Back in the 1990s, the Black Crowes blew up out of Atlanta, playing soulful, swaggering classic rock in an era of alt-rock irony and grunge bellyaching. Even more impressively, the two guys at the heart of the band — singer Chris Robinson and his guitar-playing brother Rich — managed to pull off their multi-platinum run while absolutely hating each other, like an American version of Oasis. But eventually the tension between Chris and Rich forced the Crowes to close up shop.

Dune and Star Wars have long been the icons of science fiction in pop culture, though author Frank Herbert believed George Lucas took a lot of inspiration from Dune and blatantly incorporated them in Star Wars.
Dune (2021)
It’s not difficult to see why Herbert would think so because, between the two franchises, there are a lot of similarities. He did not get too specific about which parts he thought were outright copies though it was obvious the resemblances did not fare well with him.
The Parallels Of Star Wars And Dune
A fan from Reddit provided a list of the items that Star Wars supposedly copied from Dune, following Frank Herbert’s speculation.
Princess Leia / Princess Alia Villain is the hero’s father / Villain is the hero’s grandfather Tatooine / Arrakis as desert planets The Sandcrawlers Moisture farmers / Dew collectors Spice Mines of Kessel / Spice as the most prized...

Genre icons Dee Wallace – whose credits include The Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, Cujo, and Critters – and Felissa Rose – who will always be remembered for playing Angela in Sleepaway Camp – have signed on to star in the horror film The Boy from Below alongside Richie Ramone, who was the drummer for The Ramones from 1983 to 1987. Directed by Tory Jones, The Boy from Below is described as being a “retelling” of Jones’ 2017 film The Wicked One (which previously received a sequel titled Wicked Ones).
Jones had this to say about the project: “In 2014, I set out to create a new slasher character reminiscent of the horror heavyweights of films past. This would lead to the creation of The Wicked One, a corrupted teen who transforms into a hulking psychopath in a scarecrow mask. It would take two years, but finally The Wicked One premiered at Fright Night Film Festival 2016 to a...

Welcome to this review of Nxt: Deadline, the latest pay-per-view/premium live event from the WWE’s third brand and a show that features the culmination of the “Iron Survivor Challenge” tournament that has taken place over the past few weeks. Let’s see what went down on the show!
Match #1: Axiom def. Nathan Frazer The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
A hard-fought battle between two of Nxt’s best highflyers went the way of Axiom as he bested Nathan Frazer in a fast-paced match-up.The speed of both Superstars was on full display as was their athleticism, as Axiom’s moonsault to the outside was soon one-upped by Frazer countering a top-rope maneuver by hitting a twisting neckbreaker. One hesitation by Frazer opened the door for Axiom, who hit a scintillating Spanish Fly and followed that up with a perfect Golden Ratio to win the friendly matchup.

The Dracula 2000 episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Horror in the year 2000 was something. Yeah, that’s it, it was something. A lot of it happened, some of it was great, some of it was good, and some of it, not so much. Actually, if the internet crowd is to be believed, the early 2000s, especially the year 2000 were abysmal for horror. We did get a few memorable films released in 2000 like the first Final Destination film, Cherry Falls, Ginger Snaps, The Cell, and American Psycho. However, the scales had some serious bad on the other side to balance it all out. Films like Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, Hellraiser: Inferno, Christina’s House, and Dracula 2000 (watch it Here) came and...

Hey all! John Fallon here aka The Arrow. Our docu-series, Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian: 80’s Horror Memories (binge it here), which thoroughly explores the decade in horror, is now 15 episodes in. We just wrapped 1980, 1981 and 1982 and we are about to go in balls deep into 1983 this coming Monday, August 28 on our JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel.
A series of this ilk doesn’t happen by itself, it takes an army of producers, writers, editors and our sole narrator to make the magic happens. So we thought it would be dandy to get our core staff to share with you their 10 favorite (not best) horror movies from the 80’s. Yes, it was tough on all of us to pick just 10 – but we knocked a few back and did what we could. Scroll down and peep our choices!

Disney has been hit with a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court by film financier Tsg, which claims that the media giant used “nearly every trick in the Hollywood accounting book” to hoard hundreds of millions in profit.
Echoing the Scarlett Johansson suit over the release of Black Widow across both movie theaters and Disney+ in 2021, Tsg contends that Disney made a number of moves aimed at feathering its own streaming nest. (Read the lawsuit here.) WarnerMedia (now Warner Bros. Discovery) faced similar legal blowback from longtime co-finance partner Village Roadshow over the day-and-date streaming release of The Matrix Resurrections and other films.
Tsg has spent $3.3 billion to help back some 140 projects at Fox, which joined the Disney fold as part of the $71.3 billion acquisition of most of 21st Century Fox in 2019. Tsg’s credits include The Banshees of Inisherin, Avatar: The Way of Water, Bohemian Rhapsody, Deadpool, The Grand Budapest Hotel...

Elvis Presley‘s “Don’t Be Cruel” remains one of his most beloved tracks. A classic rock band put their own spin on the track in the 1980s. Subsequently, the same band had a hit covering “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
Deciding to cover Elvis Presley’s ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ was ‘torture’ for Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick had a huge hit with their 1988 power ballad “The Flame,” a song that wasn’t written by any of the members of the group. During a 2023 interview with Songfacts, Cheap Trick’s Ben E. Carlos said the band wanted their follow-up single to be a cover. “I literally went through piles of tapes with Richie [Nielsen] from publishers, went through hundreds of songs,” he recalled. “We’d sit there in a room with a ghetto blaster, put a tape in, get about 10 seconds in, and usually just pop the tape out and pitch it in the circular file.

Padma Lakshmi is having an “otherworldly and amazing” morning, after pulling her latest set of three Emmy nominations for the culinary competition show Top Chef, which she’s long hosted and exec produced, and her newer Hulu series Taste the Nation, examining cuisine from coast to coast.
The nod for Bravo’s Top Chef — her 14th, overall — is particularly meaningful given her recently announced decision to depart the franchise of which she’s been a part for 19 seasons. “It feels really, really great to be able to leave my tenure right at Top Chef, knowing that I gave it my all and the last season, we got the nominations again,” Lakshmi said. “I’m really happy, and I want to thank all of the people who worked so hard on that show that you never see. I’m over the moon because I’m leaving the show in a great shape.

The NBC comedy Cheers attracted several guest stars playing themselves. These were public figures like baseball player Wade Boggs and of course Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek. One of the first guest stars in season 1 was politician Tip O’Neill. He was a good sport, but refused to do one joke the writers had written.

Cheers writer Ken Levine revealed the lost Tip O’Neill scene on an episode of his Hollywood & Levine podcast. Here’s the scene that was missing from season 1, episode 18, “No Contest.”
The history of politicians as ‘Cheers’ guest stars
Long before Joint Chiefs Chairman William J. Crowe appeared in season 7, O’Neill came into Cheers as a guest star for a drink. Levine explained who O’Neill was in 1983.
“For Cheers, we got Thomas ‘Tip’ O’Neill as our stunt casting in season 1,” Levine said on Hollywood & Levine.

Festival season is back in full force. After cancellations over the past two years, large-scale music fests including Coachella, Primavera Sound and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival are returning as mask mandates ease and coronavirus vaccination rates rise.
Unlike last year’s events, most festival organizers are no longer requiring proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test for entry. The CDC’s guidance for large events and gatherings notes, “You are less likely to be exposed to Covid-19 during outdoor activities, even without the use of masks” and that wearing a face mask is generally not required outdoors.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch remains an oddity in a series with more than its share of unusual chapters. As the only Michael Myers-free installment of the whole horror franchise, the standalone 1982 film was an attempt to rebrand the slasher saga as an anthology series, though things didn’t go quite as planned.
Unhappy with the change in approach, the feature was widely rejected by fans at the time, prompting the franchise to resume its regularly scheduled programming with 1988’s tellingly titled Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. In the year’s since, however, the defenders of this red-headed stepchild have only grown in numbers, to the point that many would hold Season of the Witch up as the finest of the sequels.
It’s a sign of this ongoing reappraisal that the cult flick is even getting its own fan-made follow-up, named Return of the Witch in...

The longer Scream Factory has been in business, the more high profile and “classic” titles they have released, the more they have begun to dig a little deeper for the kinds of catalogue titles and semi-obscurities for which devoted horror fans have been clamoring for years. New licensing deals have made new titles possible, including three new releases that have been among the most highly requested movies in Scream Factory’s history. As if there was any doubt, the fact that these three films now have special edition Blu-rays are proof positive that we are living in a golden age of home video.

Filmmaker Michael Dougherty has turned heads and raised eyebrows with his two cult classics: Krampus and Trick ‘r Treat.
The first is a festive-themed horror flick that preys on those who’ve lost touch with the Christmas spirit, while the other is a much-loved scarefest that is fast approaching its 10th anniversary. But had things panned out differently, Trick ‘r Treat, the Halloween-set anthology film written and directed by Dougherty, would’ve been summoned onto the big screen by a whole host of A-list directors.

Like great musicians before him — Beethoven, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder — Braille the dog doesn’t let his disabilities keep him from his passions.
The two-year-old Australian Shepherd was born blind and deaf due to irresponsible breeding, reports the Detroit Free Press, but can perform all the tricks a sighted, hearing dog can do, and then some.
Along with learning basic commands through tactile cues, Braille has also learned how to play the piano.
This dedication to trying new things has earned Braille a Novice Trick Dog title from the American Kennel Club. Never one to quit, Braille is already working on his Intermediate title.
