This post contains spoilers for "The White Lotus" season 3.
Can somebody please give Walton Goggin an award for acting almost entirely with his eyes? He did it on last week's episode of "The White Lotus," when his depressed maybe-hitman Rick sat through a stunningly unexpected monologue from an old buddy played by Sam Rockwell. This week, he's back at it again as the season enters its endgame -- which no doubt will have something to do with the man known as Jim Hollinger. Hollinger makes his entrance in an out-of-focus shot at the end of episode 5, and the hour ends with Goggins' almost imperceptibly shaken look.
The big twist here can be readily inferred, though we'll have to wait until next week for the show to confirm or deny it. Rick previously said that he knew hotel owner Sritala's (Patravadi Mejudhon) husband killed his dad when he was on what...

Julia Fox can’t help but shed a tear over the legacy of Pedro Almodóvar’s “All About My Mother” — especially when it comes to her personal history with the Oscar-winning 1999 film starring Penélope Cruz.
Fox, while visiting the Criterion Closet to promote “Presence” which is now on VOD, said that it was “All About My Mother” that showed her how “unconventional beauty” can be accepted.
“Ok, I had an advisor in high school, she was the only reason I went to school. She really had my back. If I didn’t go to class, she would still mark me present. We had a very interesting bond. And she actually lent me a box set of all of his movies. I feel like I’m going to cry,” Fox said. “She lent me a box set of all of his movies…Why am I crying over Pedro Almodóvar? I love Pedro Almodóvar.

These days, it's not easy to keep track of all the different streaming services you may be subscribed to. It can take hours to sift through the libraries on Netflix, Prime Video, or Hulu in search of the best movies you can watch for free. Take, for instance, Paramount+. Since it was launched in its current form in 2021, Paramount+ has been a home for original programming like "Halo" and "Knuckles," as well as content from CBS, Nickelodeon, and Showtime.
When opening up the platform's Movies section, it's overwhelming to see the spectrum of films and genres to search through. You could watch classics like "The Godfather" or "Forrest Gump," both of which are currently on Paramount+, but what about films you might not easily find on the front page? From the most iconic films of all time to more recent indie hits, these 15 films will guarantee you a great movie night,...

The 2003 indie drama "Thirteen" was widely acclaimed upon release while elevating the careers of filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke (who was paid just $13 for the job) and actors Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed. "Thirteen" was lauded for its searing, contemporary depiction of the lives of impressionable American teenagers. For those looking for movies tackling similar subject matter and themes, there is no shortage of teen coming-of-age dramas. From triumphs to tragedies, plenty of movies have explored the everyday life of American teenagers, both preceding "Thirteen" and released in the 2003 film's wake.
From dramedies to tonally uncompromising dramas, those pivotal teenage years are ripe for cinematic exploration. Even the comedies on this coming-of-age list don't shy away from the heavier parts of the teenage experience, including illegal drug use, mental health concerns, and teen pregnancy. Isla Fisher is known for bringing her all to comedy roles, but the actress is now crediting her former co-star Kirsten Dunst for teaching her an invaluable trick of the trade: how to act drunk.
Fisher and Dunst co-starred together in 2012 film “Bachelorette,” which was directed by Leslye Headland and adapted from Headland’s off-Broadway show. The dark comedy had an all-star ensemble cast that included Lizzy Caplan, Rebel Wilson, James Marsden, Adam Scott, and Ann Dowd. And while Fisher had famously already played an unhinged character in “Wedding Crashers,” her “Bachelorette” role of an aging alcoholic former high school popular girl had a different level of nuance.
Fisher said during “The Drew Barrymore Show” while promoting “Dog Man” and “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” that it was Dunst who helped her embody the layers of the character. When asked by host Drew Barrymore which former co-star she learned the most from,...

Sofia Coppola has big plans for the 25th anniversary of her directorial debut “The Virgin Suicides.”
The 2000 feature, which premiered at Cannes, cemented Coppola as the director for young female angst. Kirsten Dunst led the film adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides’ 1993 novel that centers on the five fictional Lisbon sisters who kill themselves one by one. Kathleen Turner and James Woods play their overprotective, religious parents; Dunst stars as middle sister Lux. The film, despite grossing just under $5 million in the U.S. against a $9 million budget, later became of a cult classic that was synonymous with the melancholic realization that teenage longing and ennui can extend into adulthood.
Coppola told Elle that she and frequent collaborator Dunst have plans to mark the 25th anniversary of “The Virgin Suicides.” (Dunst and Coppola have reunited on features “Marie Antoinette” and “The Beguiled.”)

Early last year, Kirsten Dunst joined a group of other highly-skilled actors like Cailee Spaeny and Wagner Moura and ran to the front lines as a photojournalist in Alex Garland’s heavy-hitting drama, Civil War. But, long before she was in the trenches alongside her weary band of photo-taking brothers, she was in a different - but equally harrowing - type of warfare: adolescents. At the turn of the century, Dunst joined ranks with her now frequent collaborator, Sofia Coppola, in the filmmaker’s directorial debut for The Virgin Suicides. The film featured a fun up-and-coming ensemble that, along with Dunst, featured early performances from Josh Hartnett, Hayden Christensen, Giovanni Ribisi, A.J. Cook, and more. Right now, audiences are invited to see one of the quintessential films of the late ‘90s, as The Virgin Suicides is now streaming on Paramount+.

As the new year unfolded, Los Angeles faced the terrifying fury of wildfires—powerful enough to leave even the most secure Hollywood mansions trembling. By the time it was over, more than 30,000 residents were forced out of their homes, and California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency. James Woods, the Oscar-nominated actor known for his sharp-witted roles and controversial opinions, saw his own Pacific Palisades home reduced to ashes.

Hollywood actors including Mark Hamill, Mandy Moore, and James Woods have been forced to flee their homes, as stars are reacting to the raging Palisades wildfire.
Star Wars actor Hamill said he evacuated “so last minute there [were] small fires on both sides of the road.” In an Instagram post, he added it was the “most horrific” blaze since the Kinneloa Fire of 1993.

Long before the time of Henry Cavill, Glen Powell, Tom Holland, or Jack Elordi — Josh Hartnett used to be the hot crush of every other teenage girl and woman. The Hollywood actor was not only one of the most famous actors back in the late 90s and early 2000s but he was also ‘the Hollywood icon’ of that time. But unlike actors who would take the fan appeal as a stepping stone to climb higher in their careers, Hartnett made the conscious decision of stepping away from fame.

Did Kirsten Dunst Refuse To Change Her Looks For Spider-Man 2? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Kirsten Dunst wasn’t just dealing with supervillains in Spider-Man – she was also taking on Hollywood beauty standards. In a no-holds-barred chat with British GQ, the 41-year-old actress talked about rejecting the pressure to fit Tinseltown’s usual looks. And she’s been pushing back since she was a teen.
When Spider-Man hit the screens in 2002, Dunst was only 17. But even then, the pressure was on. She revealed that a producer once took her to the dentist without telling her, pushing her to straighten her teeth. “I was like, ‘No, I like my teeth,’” she said. That rebellious spirit stuck with her.
Her fight didn’t stop there. At the Spider-Man London premiere, Dunst wore a black Rodarte dress with dark lipstick – a goth-inspired look that Sony hated. Why? Because it didn’t fit the...

By most accounts, indie cinema legend Ed Lachman is on track to land his second consecutive Oscar nomination for a collaboration with the great Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín. The cinematography legend was nominated last year for the arresting black-and-white photography of Larraín’s satirical gothic fable El Conde; and he is back in contention in the best cinematography category this season with his exquisitely painterly work on Maria, the Angelina Jolie-starring Netflix biographical film about the life and inner world of the great 20th-century opera diva, Maria Callas.
The Hollywood Reporter recently sat down with Lachman for a special session of THR Presents to discuss in detail how Maria was crafted — the complex array of camera, lighting and color choices that went into the film’s arresting but elegant imagery, the nature of Lachman’s collaboration with Jolie and Larraín, and the various principles that have come to inform...

Few actresses capture the essence of the “girl next door” ingenue quite like Kirsten Dunst. However, Dunst’s talent extends far beyond this classic film trope, as she has consistently demonstrated her remarkable acting abilities throughout her career.
Kirsten Dunst has had an active acting career since 1989, and moviegoers may know her from many different roles — depending on their generation — such as Mary Jane Watson in the early 2000s Spider-Man franchise or as the forever young Claudia in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire.

Kirsten Dunst has had an active acting career since 1989, and moviegoers may know her from many different roles — depending on their generation — such as Mary Jane Watson in the early 2000s Spider-Man franchise or as the forever young Claudia in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire.

The acclaimed Danish period horror drama The Girl with the Needle, shot by cinematographer Michal Dymek, took home the Camerimage Film Festival’s Golden Frog Saturday night in Toruń, Poland. The winner was selected by a jury led by two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett.
Camerimage famously celebrates the art of cinematography, so its honors are extended to the directors of photography behind the movies exhibited in its main competition. But this year’s jury made a point of adding a “special mention” for The Girl with the Needle‘s 40-year-old director, Magnus von Horn.
The masterfully realized period thriller is loosely based on the true story of Danish serial killer Dagmar Overbye, who helped impoverished women kill their unwanted children in 1910s Copenhagen.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s contributing film critic, Leslie Felperin, summed up the film as “a dark, urgently timely Danish drama” that’s “like one of those fiendish...

More than two decades before he made the entire world thirst thanks to his role as a serial-killing daddy dad in M. Night Shyamalans Trap, Josh Hartnett was dropped into the middle of a warzone in Ridley Scotts Black Hawk Down. At the time, the blossoming star was one of the biggest names in the biz, having previously appeared in popular titles like The Faculty and The Virgin Suicides, with his part in the war epic solidifying his place as not only a heartthrob but also an immensely talented performer. Right now, interested parties can head over to Vizio WatchFree+ where the Academy Award-winning film is now streaming.

Netflix’s next Christmas movie offering of 2024 has arrived, and it might make you melt. Or it might heat you up. Or … both?
“Hot Frosty” is now streaming, following the love story of Kathy and Jack. Their meet cute? Kathy unintentionally brings Jack to life with a magic scarf — because he’s a snowman. Yes, seriously. They spend the movie navigating his secret, all while he attempts to not melt into a literal puddle. Again, seriously.
That said, it’s pretty delightful, and it definitely has a pretty stacked cast. Here are the major players you’ll recognize.

Interview with the Vampire director Neil Jordan has reflected on his first impressions of 11-year-old Kirsten Dunst, who wowed alongside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the 1994 horror movie based on the novel by Anne Rice. Superhero fans, of course, know Dunst as Mary Jane Watson from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, while film aficionados and fans of drama remember Dunst as the star of Melancholia, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Power of the Dog, and Alex Garland's controversial 2024 film Civil War.
She has also made numerous movies with Sofia Coppola, in particular The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette, as well as appeared in TV shows like Fargo and Portalndia. But despite a storied career and a best supporting actress Oscar nomination in 2022 for her role The Power of the Dog, Dunst's name rarely comes up when discussing the greatest actors of her generation.

Francis Ford Coppola's visionary filmmaking created one of the best trilogies in American cinema. Its gripping narrative and epic scale make The Godfather series a benchmark of the crime genre.
Prime Video is streaming Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather trilogy this November. Fans can watch the series with Coppola's recut version of The Godfather Part III, titled The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. That film streamlined the narrative of the original version and changed the ending for Al Pacino's Michael Corleone. The Godfather Part III is largely considered the inferior installment to the series, and Coppola previously stated that Part II finished the story. The Godfather Coda had a limited theatrical release in December 2020, revealing Coppola's original vision for the movie.

Forrest Gump's Jenny is one of the most iconic characters of her era. The way her name is said by the titular character has become one of the most memorable parts of the movie. Jenny is played by Robin Wright in the film, who later marries Tom Hanks' Forrest after they fall in love in adulthood. In the film, Jenny and Forrest have a child together, but Jenny tragically dies at the age of 32.
Both Jenny and Forrest also have younger counterparts in the film, which shows the pair when they are growing up. Young Forrest is played by Michael Conner Humphreys, who did very little acting after appearing in Forrest Gump. Young Jenny, on the other hand, was played by Hanna Hall. Hall's role in Forrest Gump and later career is worth exploring in more detail.

Director Francis Ford Coppola names his favorite of Sofia Coppola's films. Sofia Coppola is the daughter of auteur director Francis Ford Coppola, who is best known for his work on films such as Apocalypse Now, The Conversation, and The Godfather trilogy. Born in 1971, Sofia Coppola began directing feature films in 1999, when she made her feature debut with The Virgin Suicides. Since then, Coppola has been the mastermind behind several well-regarded films, including Lost in Translation, The Beguiled, The Bling Ring, and most recently, the Priscilla Presley drama Priscilla, which was released last year.
Speaking with Konbini, Francis Ford Coppola reveals what his favorite Sofia Coppola film is. The filmmaker began by praising his director daughter's work in general, saying that "most of her films are great." He then settled upon one of her films in particular, a movie called Somewhere. He said that Somewhere is "in some ways [his] favorite,...

Halle Berry is back in the spotlight with yet another role that strips her (a bit) of her timeless beauty for the sake of yet another vulnerable, emotionally raw portrayal following Bruised, her directorial debut for Netflix. Our recent in-person interview with the Academy Award winner confirms our suspicions that she, indeed, does not age. Must be nice. And on that note, it's hard to believe she is still the only Black woman to win a Best Actress Oscar, and her latest outing for Never Let Go certainly reminds us of her on-screen talents that earned her said trophy.
Regarding the film's title no, this isn't a nod to Kate Winslet's iconic line from Titanic, but rather an important rule the new film's perpetually distressed mother (Berry) orders her two young sons to obey each and every day as they carry out their dangerous existence in the wilderness. Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl is a dreamy, melancholy portrait of a veteran Las Vegas dancer reeling from the news that her career has hit its expiration date. The movie is as gossamer-thin as the wings that the title character, Shelly — played by Pamela Anderson with an undiluted sense of heartbreak — keeps tearing on her stage costume. The story more often drifts than advances, favoring ambience over substance in a few too many wordless sequences observing Shelly wandering or dancing or just staring into the abyss in sun-blasted parking lots, on rooftops and streets, bathed in lens flare and the shimmering score of Andrew Wyatt.
After her promising 2013 feature debut Palo Alto and her sophomore stumble seven years later with Mainstream, Coppola seems more in thrall than ever to the impressionistic style of Aunt Sofia. But the new film — written by Kate Gersten, a Coppola clan member by marriage...

Mika Gustafson’s feature has some obvious influences in The Virgin Suicides or American Honey but wears them lightly in this fresh and beautifully cut debut
Like an unusually designed coat featuring quirky details and an interesting fabric choice from a young designer’s first collection, Swedish writer-director Mika Gustafson’s feature debut has raw edges and some sloppy stitching in places, but the whole is fresh, directional and beautifully cut. Sure, it’s not hard to spot the influences that consciously or not infuse the work, from Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides and The Bling Ring (with their lolling sisters and girl-gang antics respectively), to Andrea Arnold’s studies of lost or neglected adolescents and the tender social realism of Hirokazu Kore-eda. The notion of powerful Hollywood family dynasties and nepo babies is more controversial now than it has ever been before. Still, Sofia Coppola has proved time and time again that she is a talented storyteller in her own right, despite whatever advantages came from being the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola. After breaking out big with her debut feature, The Virgin Suicides, Coppola won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Lost in Translation, a beautiful twist on the first encounter premise that has continued to inspire debates over its ambiguous ending two decades later. Although her films continued to receive acclaim for their transporting visual style and rich characterization, The Bling Ring was seen as the first misfire of Coppolas career when it made its debut in the summer of 2013.

Josh Hartnett has always wanted to do what was least expected of him. What might be expected of a broad-chested, six-foot-three-inch football player turned actor with a strong jaw and deep-set brown eyes? Roles like himbo prom king. Daring pilot. Brave soldier. Josh Hartnett considers his villain role in Trap as a career highlight that's 25 years in the making. The actor said he would have worked with director M. Night Shyamalan much earlier if given the opportunity.
Trap forces audiences to root for Josh Hartnett's undercover murderer, which isn't a problem for fans who've seen him play heartthrob roles early in his career. However, an overview of Hartnett's filmography revealed he's a very versatile actor; he first played a sociopath villain in 2001's O, a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare's Othello. The actor told Entertainment Weekly he wanted to be cast in an M. Night Shyamalan film since 1999, so he jumped at the opportunity after learning he was recently being considered for a role. He immediately realized that film hinged on a convincing depiction of the main character as a loving father who's secretly a serial killer.
