Earlier in December, our sources told us that Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II had been cast as a younger version of Morpheus in The Matrix 4. And now, our scoop is being widely confirmed as true, with multiple sites reporting that he is indeed playing the role.
You might think that this indicates that the film will be a prequel about Morpheus being liberated from the Matrix prior to the events of the first movie, but apparently, things are going a be a bit more complicated than that. We’re hearing that the pic will be a true sequel to The Matrix Revolutions, exploring the ‘next’ Matrix formed after the climax of that film.
Rumor has it we’ll see Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity return having uploaded digital copies of themselves to the new world. Meanwhile, Morpheus will still be exploring the Matrix, albeit projecting an image...

DC Comics has been drawing the line at $2.99 for the vast majority of their titles for some time now, and pretty much every comic book met that price point when Rebirth launched last year. Now, however, that’s set to change. While twice monthly seres like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lanterns and Deathstroke will stay at $2.99, the rest are getting an increase.
Sixteen monthly titles will be going up to $3.99 from this April, but on the plus side, readers will now receive a download code for a digital copy with each of these comics. Marvel was recently criticized for removing that option and instead offering fans back issues, so you have to believe that this is a very deliberate decision by DC Comics.
Among the books affected by this increase are Batgirl, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey, Batman Beyond, Batwoman, Blue Beetle, Cyborg, The Hellblazer, New Super-Man, Red Hood and the Outlaws,...

Manhattan, Season 2, Episode 4, “Overlord”
Written by Alexander Woo
Directed by Christopher Misiano
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on Wgn
“If it helps to pretend you’re me, pretend. It’s what I do.” Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer
The first three episodes of Manhattan‘s second season have largely focused on the disappearance of Frank Winter. While they have all been outstanding, the narrative has felt a little fragmented without all the characters on the Hill together. In “Overlord,” the story is still split between the goings on at Los Alamos and the fate of Frank, but it ultimately brings the implosion team—and the narrative—back together in a satisfying fashion.
“Overlord” refers to the code name for the Allies’ D-Day invasion at Normandy, which serves as the backdrop for this episode. But it’s also a reference to science chief J. Robert Oppenheimer, who experiences a dangerous case of cold feet,...

The last episode of "Revolution" ended with Aaron trying to introduce a virus into the nanotech's code, effectively killing it. Naturally, it didn't take too kindly to that, sending all kinds of sparks flying and knocking him out.
When he comes to at the start of Wednesday's (March 5) episode, "Dreamcatcher," he's back in a world that had power, still married to Priscilla and running a big, fancy company (in Minneapolis, apparently, as his assistant kept asking if he wanted Timberwolves tickets and Neville's cheesy ads all featured a 612 area code). Of course, it isn't real -- the nano was running an elaborate virtual-reality program inside his head in an attempt to get him to fix the code once and for all.
Basically, then, Aaron is in the Matrix -- which the show at least had the decency to acknowledge following Charlie's surprise appearance there. (Aaron's bewildered "How do you know about that?...

“I just know there’s something dark in me and I hide it. I certainly don’t talk about it, but it’s there always, this…dark passenger. And when he’s driving, I feel alive, half sick with the thrill of complete wrongness.
I don’t fight him, I don’t want to. He’s all I’ve got. Nothing else could love me, not even… especially not me.
Or is that just a lie the Dark Passenger tells me? Because lately there are these moments when I feel connected to something else… someone. It’s like the mask is slipping and things… people… who never mattered before are suddenly starting to matter. It scares the hell out of me”

'Dexter': Who's the best villain ever? Michael C. Hall and co-stars pick their favorite foes -- Poll
Dexter Morgan has been hiding in plain sight for eight seasons on Showtime, and throughout those years, a handful of people have challenged our antihero — but most didn’t live to tell the tale.

"Dexter" has been a staple of Comic-Con International in San Diego for the past few years now and with the show's final season currently underway, fans knew it was their last time to interact with the Morgans and the folks of Miami Metro in Hall H.
For "Dexter's" final Comic-Con panel on Thursday night, Showtime kicked things off with a video that included never-before-seen interviews with the cast on how they feel about saying goodbye. Check out a snippet below.
But to brighten the tear-eyed audiences' spirits, Showtime brought three former stars (four, if you include virtual visitors) back from the dead for "Dexter's" last trip to Comic-Con. Erik King (Sgt. Doakes), Julie Benz (Rita Bennett) and Lauren Velez (Captain Laguerta) all returned to share the stage with Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan), Jennifer Carpenter (Debra Morgan), David Zayas (Angel Batista), Desmond Harrington (Joey Quinn), Yvonne Strahovski (Hannah...

This upcoming Sunday, Jun 30th, Showtime's 'Dexter' returns for its 8th and final season! And one of the things I’ve always loved about the show is the time it takes to set up its key story threads for the entire season; meaning it usually takes a good 3-4 episodes before I get a feel for the overall direction they’re heading in. And with that, there are often interested side stories that seem prominent at first but then never pan out. Now, I’m sure there are plenty of plot threads you’re all wondering about – whatever happened to Lumen? Is Jordan Chase presumed dead, or in hiding? Whatever happened to that hottie Masuka started dating while setting up Dexter’s bachelor party? Inquiring minds want to know. But for right now, here are 6 of my personal curiosities. With the final season fast approaching, might some of...

First, a confession: I haven’t seen a single episode of Dexter since I reviewed Season 4 way back when this site used to have another name – and even before then I’d only seen the odd few episodes from earlier seasons – before I watched this one.
The good news? It’s a show that can be dipped in and out of more or less as long as you watch it a season at a time, thanks to the semi-procedural cop show structure (who doesn’t get sucked into gruesome murders?) and yearly antagonists that usually embody the particular themes a season is trying to explore. I really like the show, and its premise – it’s about a forensic analyst who moonlights as a serial-killing serial killer (the magnetic Michael C. Hall...

We’ve crossed the halfway point in Dexter Season 7. Here’s the current rundown on key characters and relationships, ranked by grade.
The Villain – Isaak Sirko (Ray Stevenson)
Starting with the Ice Truck Killer in Season 1, Dexter became known for its remarkable villains. However, that all came to an end after John Lithgow stole the show as Trinity in Season 4. Season 5 featured Jordan Chase (Jonny Lee Miller), a motivational speaker by day and sexual deviant by night. He was bland to say the least. Then, Season 6 hit us with the Doomsday curve ball – mark it just plain bad.
Season 7 finally takes us back to a villain we can truly fear. Not only is Isaak Sirko Russian mafia, he’s also wicked awesome in a fight. He’s the kind of boss who has no problems with getting his hands dirty. In Episode 7.5, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) put him behind bars.

Grey’s Anatomy alumna Kim Raver is set to star in Lifetime’s hourlong pilot The Secret Lives Of Wives. Inspired by the book by Iris Krasnow, The Secret Lives of Wives explores the unvarnished truth behind the marriages of four different women – Michelle (Raver), Reed (Salli Richardson), Keaton (Amber Clayton) and Jessie (Lauren Bittner). Michelle is described as a naturally elegant, generous and grounded woman who is the rock of her small circle of best friends. The pilot is produced by Lin Pictures in association with Warner Horizon Television. Raver, repped by Wme and Mosaic, has a long history with Warner Bros. TV, which cast her in her first pilot, Trinity, followed by starring roles on series Third Watch and The Nine. Following her stints on 24 and Grey’s Anatomy, Raver returned to Wbtv this fall with a recurring role on the studio’s new NBC drama Revolution.

Chicago – Showtime’s “Dexter” is starting to show its age a bit after six years of slicing, dicing, and near-captures of Dexter Morgan. It’s still a strong show, largely because of the incredible central performance from Michael C. Hall, but the writing doesn’t seem as potent as it once was as the show often fails to follow through with its ideas. I loved the foundation of faith through the sixth season but felt it was under-developed, especially after the departure of the one character who seemed most likely to challenge Dexter’s worldview. Still a good show, but not quite a great one any more. Let’s hope it comes back in season seven,

In the Fall of 2012, Dexter will return for Season 7 and fans will be wondering how Dexter (Michael C. Hall) will deal with his latest debacle. Here is a rundown of what fans can look forward to.
Note: This article contains Season 6 finale Spoilers
The Dexter Season 7 Premiere
Instead of a time jump between seasons, expect Season 7 to begin right in the Church where the Season 6 finale left off. This will be similar to the shift between the Season 4 Trinity finale and the Season 5 premiere. Fans would be upset with any sort of time jump, especially after such a major cliffhanger. Unlike other shows with longer seasons that go on 2-month hiatuses, fans have to wait a full nine months until Dexter returns for its seventh run.

Chicago – Showtime’s “Dexter” was in a precarious position in season five after essentially blowing up their own program at the end of season four. Would they jump the shark or keep taking incredible risks? The result is definitely the latter as this turned out to be one of the best seasons of Michael C. Hall’s incredible program and it will be available on Blu-ray and DVD this week.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.0/5.0
At the end of season four, Dexter (Hall) came home to find his wife Rita (Julie Benz) brutally murdered by the Trinity Killer. Dexter’s “Dark Passenger” had put the most important loved one in his life in jeopardy. How does a sociopath deal with grief? How does he pick up the pieces? The writers of “Dexter” were given an opportunity to radically shift gears from the “domestication of a serial killer” plotline with which they had worked for four stellar seasons.

Dexter Season 5 picks up after the death of Rita courtesy of Trinity. Everything around Dexter (Michael C. Hall)seems to be unraveling including his close relationship with Rita’s kids.
Enter Julia Stile’s character (Lumen Ann Pierce) who is a survivor of a small ring of friends who kill for sport and amusement and have done so for a very long time. At the beginning Dexter can tell Lumen is left in shock and has been tortured but he doesn’t know to what extent until he begins quietly investigating what has happened. As the two grow closer Dexter also begins working on patching up things with Rita’s kids all while detective Quinn starts to get suspicious of Dexter, even more than usual.
Dexter does get a little careless this season, he breaks some of his rules and even becomes a teacher of sorts as he helps Lumen...

Per usual, one of the more entertaining panels of the San Diego Comic-Con was the one held for Showtime's "Dexter" on Thursday, July 21st, and we have the highlights for you right here along with a look at the Season 6 trailer that debuted during the show.
Participants included executive producers Sara Colleton and Scott Buck, star Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan himself), C.S. Lee (Vince Masuka), David Zayas (Angel Bastista), James Remar (Harry Morgan), and guest star Colin Hanks (Travis Marshall). Also popping in during the audience Q&A portion was another Season 6 guest star, Mos Def (Brother Sam).
Kicking things off was the announcement of a fall launch of the new social media game "Slice of Life" coming via Facebook. It will follow along with Season 6, and players can also face past "Dexter" adversaries like Trinity and the Ice Truck Killer. It will coincide with the October 2nd, 2011, premiere of the new season.

Dexter: Season 4
Stars: Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, James Remar, C.S. Lee, Desmond Harrington, John Lithgow, Keith Carradine
Dexter Morgan: Miami police blood-splatter expert, serial killer with a heart of gold, and now a husband and father. For those unfamiliar with the series up to this point, I can only recommend getting caught up. This show’s got more than a little baggage.
Focusing on Dexter’s struggle to balance home life with his wife Rita (Julie Benz) and their kids, police work with his sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) and colleagues, and his secret nightly activities – namely, looking for murderers to kill to enact his own form of justice while also sating Dexter’s own bloodlust – season 4 also sets up a new Big Bad to torment and intrigue Dexter in the form of guest star John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer. Agent Frank Lundy...

Is it possible to atone for one’s sins by preventing someone else from making the same mistakes? Dexter (Michael C. Hall) certainly seems to think so.
Lumen (Julia Stiles) is an opportunity for Dexter to take the first steps at trying to heal his own guilt of what he is, of what happened to Rita. He needs her to stop because he too, needs to stop. Yet because he feels incapable of his own self-control, he’s projecting that control onto Lumen. The irony is that he was ready to kill the wrong man in order to do it.
“If you don’t put it behind you, what you are feeling will only get worse.”
Dexter should know better than to think that a simple plane ticket to Minneapolis could make Lumen’s need for revenge and blood go away. He’s asking her to do the one thing...

It’s tough being a single dad. A difficult balancing act between work, relationships, and “me” time. Especially when that “me” time involves stalking your next murder victim and pulling corpses out of a barrel.
After last week’s stellar return, 5.02 had a tough act to follow. It had its moments, but was rather sluggish, as is typical of early episodes in Dexter seasons as they start to build all the pieces that will come crumbling down later.
Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was back to his absurd rationalizations as he unsuccessfully attempted to focus on the kids. To be a better father, he would have to be a better killer. Kind of like saying the best way to get sober is to stop drinking and pick up heroin.
It had to end this way though, didn’t it? No way we were going to see Dexter dragging Astor (Christina Robinson...

Chicago – “Dexter” returns tonight, September 26th, 2010, for what promises to be a turning point for the series after the breathtaking season four finale. In the final moments of the show’s best season, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) came home to find his wife Rita (Julie Benz) murdered by The Trinity Killer. Where does a serial killer go from here? How does a creature like Dexter deal with grief?
Television Rating: 5.0/5.0
It takes at least three episodes for the pieces to fall into place. In that time, the writers of “Dexter” prove why they’re some of the best on television. Simultaneously, they play with issues of suspicion, grief, regret, and vengeance as Dexter becomes a prime suspect in his own wife’s murder. The irony, of course, being that Dexter has played a part in a number of murders, including ones investigated by his friends at the station, but...

One... two... Dexter's coming for you. We're only a few short weeks off from the Dexter Season 5 premiere and the anticipation continues to rise. Will Quinn (Desmond Harrington) fill the void left by Doakes (Erik King) after Season 2? How will Dexter (Michael C. Hall) cope with single-dad-angry-tween drama? What's next for Lt. Laguerta (Lauren Vélez) and Angel Batista (David Zayas)? David Zayas has his own ideas on that relationship. How will Dexter Season 5 ever top Season 4 without a scare-you-psycho Trinity killer played by the incomparable John Lithgow? And, will this finally be the season when Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) learns the truth about Dexter's dark passenger? We can only hope. Check out the new poster art for Dexter Season 5. It says it all. Dexter's face reflected in blood. Dexter premieres Sunday, September 26th at 9pm Et/Pt only on Showtime. Be sure to check out our Dexter's...

August 17 meant that fans got a new dose of Dexter with the release of the critically acclaimed fourth season. How did the home version stack up to the amazing year of the show? Look no further to find out.
The Show
I’m sure if you’re at all familiar with Dexter, you’ve heard all the hype about this season, and it’s all true. This is probably the best season of the series yet, and it leads into what’s already shaping up to be a great season five. Michael C. Hall was robbed of an Emmy for a lead performance that gets more complex and more compelling every year. This year, Dexter’s problem was trying to have an idyllic home life while balancing it with his killer urges. He thought he’d found someone who proved it was possible when he met Arthur Mitchell (the very...

Chicago – Very, very few programs hit their creative peak in their fourth season but that was the surprising turn of events that took place on Showtime last fall with the amazing “senior year” of “Dexter,” a dark horse to win the upcoming Emmy for Outstanding Dramatic Series. The fourth season is now available on Blu-ray and it’s a must-see for everyone, even if you haven’t kept up with this award-winning program over the years. It’s spectacular, riveting drama.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0
The fourth season of “Dexter” features all of the regular actors and guest-star John Lithgow at their absolute peak and the writing was never stronger. The second half of this season, as Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) draws closer to a disturbingly similar serial murderer in the form of The Trinity Killer (Lithgow), is one of the most remarkable string of television episodes in the history of the form.

"It's Jungian," says Sam Trammell nonchalantly when describing how his dreams inspire his acting. He's equally offhand when explaining how as a college student he planned to become a theoretical physicist but was forced to lower his sights: "I was advanced, but I wasn't a genius, and at Brown University I majored in semiotics, which refers to the interdisciplinary study of sign systems and how they work, including linguistic theory, Marxist theory, psychoanalysis, feminist theory, and film theory. I did most of my work in contemporary French philosophy."He certainly never imagined himself an actor, let alone one who plays a shape-shifter on a hit HBO show about vampires. The series is "True Blood," created by Alan Ball based on the novels of Charlaine Harris, and Trammell is enjoying the unexpected development. He admits that early in his career, he had a condescending attitude toward television. He would not have...

It was a festive night of new winners and big surprises as 'Avatar,' 'The Hangover,' "Mad Men" and "Glee" were named cream of the crop at the 67th annual Golden Globes. 'The Closer'Anything can get old after five years. And yet 2009 found "The Closer" in the midst of its best season yet, thanks to a crack team of writers led by creator James Duff and a crackerjack ensemble headlined by the oft-sag-nominated Kyra Sedgwick.Of course, Sedgwick is wonderful, never taking her professionally precise, personally scattered Lapd Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson too far into caricature. But what would be the point of watching without the personality dynamics in Johnson's Major Crimes squad? G.W. Bailey must be having a blast with his Lt. Provenza, whose attitude and fashion sense got turned around thanks to a new girlfriend—which gave Tony Denison's Lt. Flynn license to grouch even more. After his near-death from a shooting, Detective Sanchez now seems a tad unhinged, but Raymond Cruz grounds his character's random remarks, making Sanchez even more enjoyable. Corey Reynolds has shepherded with grace Sgt.

2009. It was pretty much as crappy a year for horror movies as it was for the economy. There were, however, some really high points to help balance out all the drivel that was put out there in theatres as well as on home video, and they are to be celebrated, even though technically a couple of them are not even from this year.

Golden Globe noms announced
Complete list of film and TV nominees
"I'm pumped!" James Cameron said before hopping a plane from New York to Los Angeles, where he hoped to celebrate with the cast and crew of best drama nominee "Avatar" at a screening Tuesday night. "It's been a 4 1/2-year journey, and this is not typically the kind of film that critics love, it being a genre movie and being seen as a big commercial movie." Cameron, also nominated for a best director Golden Globe, was pleased the movie also got some love in the music category. "I think this is James Horner's best score to date," he says. But he says he is sad his actors got short shrift. "Maybe there's a sense that acting for performance capture isn't the same as acting for a lens, which is going to take an education. I think that will eventually go away.

Golden Globes nominations greeted the stars Tuesday morning, announced live by entertainer Justin Timberlake, "The Office's" John Krasinski and "Inglourious Basterds" actress Diane Kruger.
Break out the show choir because the "L"osers of "Glee" nabbed multiple nominations, including those for Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch and the show itself in the best comedy category.
"Damages" told a similar story, but for the more serious side of TV, receiving nominations for William Hurt, Glenn Close and Rose Byrne, but no drama category.
"Mad Men" did well for itself nabbing nominations for best drama and its leads Jon Hamm and January Jones, and Showtime's "Dexter" will go up against it in the drama and best actor categories with Michael C. Hall. This season's Trinity Killer himself, John Lithgow also got Hfpa props. Good things on cable came in threes for HBO's "Big Love" also for the drama field, Bill Paxton and Chloe Sevigny.

The shocking season 4 finale of "Dexter" was was kept as a secret until last minute that the cast alone had to scramble in the dark. [Spoiler Alert] Killing Rita Morgan was especially devastating for Julie Benz who portrays the character for four years. In an interview with TV Guide magazine, she said she was even initially told that her character would never die.
"I've been told two different things," said the actress. "The producers and executives told me they didn't know at the start of the season." However, she thought that John Lithgow who plays Trinity knew from the beginning. After all, Lithgow said during the San Diego Comic Con that only he knew the ending and jokingly said that he would have to kill if someone knows.
However, Benz had begun to suspect something major was going on when David Zayas aka Angel Batista said that Rita is not meant for Dexter's world.

Dexter’s double life is starting to unravel — big time!
Hey, HollywoodLifers, are you excited for tonight’s Dexter finale? The tension has been building all season between serial killers Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Trinity (John Lithgow), and it’s about to come to a head tonight! I think there are a couple of new episodes of Dexter before the holiday hiatus and the newest one appears to be airing on December 6th. Showtime has released a synopsis and several promo photos for the episode, which we have for you below.
Dexter's worst fears have been realized. Because of Debra's unrelenting pursuit, Miami Metro is just one step away from discovering the identity of the Trinity Killer. And Dexter can't let that happen.
Arthur's arrest would not only deprive Dexter of a satisfying kill, it would also expose the secret life Dexter's been leading in his pursuit of this monster. Dexter must take drastic action to buy himself time to deal with Trinity in his own fashion. Meanwhile, Rita decides to confide in Dexter, which doesn't go as well as she'd hoped.
Laguerta and Batista's breach of ethics paints them into a very tight corner.
