The most prestigious film festival in the world has officially commenced at the French Riviera with 2024 being a significant year for Indian cinema. Seven Indian films have been chosen to be screened at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, with Payal Kapadia-directorial leading the line.
The Malayalam film “All We Imagine as Light” broke the jinx as it became the first Indian cinema in three decades to compete at the festival’s main segment, Palme d’Or. Shaji N. Karun’s 1994 film “Swaham” was the last film to compete in this category.
Though not the Palme d’Or, several other Indian productions have won big in these 30 years and brought glory to the Indian cinema.

It's been nearly forty years, but people still remember "The A-Team." The action adventure series went on for five seasons, but stuck around in the public consciousness for much, much longer. People still remember the theme song, the cartoonish violence, the catchphrases. But although many viewers throughout the 2000s wanted a revival of the show, the TV series itself never came back.
Instead, we got a feature film in 2010 starring an updated A-Team, with the characters being veterans of the Iraq War instead of veterans of Vietnam. The film underperformed at the box office, however, and they never made a sequel. Unlike "21 Jump Street," a franchise where the later movies have now long-since overshadowed the TV show for most younger viewers, when people of all ages today think of "The A-Team," they're still almost certainly thinking of the show.
So what have the cast members been up to since...

Remembering The Comedians Of Comedy, Netflix's First True Original Production (A Quasi-Oral History)
If I asked you to name the first original production from Netflix, what would you say? An educated guess might bring you to "House of Cards" or "Lilyhammer," and that's a fair assessment. While the former was Netflix's first piece of original programming produced specifically for the company's streaming service (released in February of 2013), the latter technically has the honor of being Netflix's first original streaming production (premiering on Netflix in February of 2012), even though it was only partially funded by Netflix and actually premiered in Norway first under the TV network NRK1.
But what if I told you that neither of these was the first true Netflix original? What if I told you Netflix produced their first original production even before they created the now-defunct Red Envelope Entertainment? Yes, before streaming, Netflix had a film financing and acquisition arm that shuttered in 2008 after investing in more than 100 films and...

The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (Iffla) announced today its full lineup of narrative and documentary features, and shorts for the festival’s 19th edition, which will be held virtually and geo-blocked to California, on May 20-27.
“This is a very special year for Iffla. Taking the festival online has given us the freedom to curate programs we would not have been able to present in a physical setting. We have expanded our reach to all California residents, doubled the shorts program with a strong representation of films from the diaspora, added special programs like “Childhood on Edge”, and curated discussions on timely and pressing topics, celebrating the independent film community from India and the Indian diaspora,” said Christina Marouda, Executive Director.

If you grew up in the '90s (or raised '90s kids), then you know that this was a decade of hilariously strange cartoon characters. From CatDog to Aaahh!!! Real Monsters to SpongeBob SquarePants, the '90s (and Nickelodeon in particular) introduced dozens of cartoons that made you think, "Who in the world comes up with this stuff?," and one of the best (and weirdest) was definitely Rocko's Modern Life.
Created by Joe Murray, the series revolves around the titular Rocko, a talking Australian wallaby who lives and works in the fictitious O-Town with his dog Spunky and his friends Heffer and Filburt (a nervous turtle). The show may have ended after four seasons and 52 episodes in 1996, but we have some good news for you, '90s babies: Rocko is returning, and his life really is about to get modern.

We caught up with the voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, to talk about the 20th anniversary of the show.
Tom Kenny's voice might be more instantly recognizable to most pop culture fans than members of their own family. From CatDog to Adventure Time, Spyro the Dragon to the Powerpuff Girls, Kenny's voice is heard far, wide, and often by cartoon and video game devotees. But the role he's most associated with is the one he's been voicing for the past 20 years, the absorbent, yellow, porous and iconic SpongeBob SquarePants.
Den of Geek had the opportunity to chat with Kenny about reaching the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob's first episode, the late SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg, and how he's still having as much fun voicing the goofy goober as ever.

As you undoubtedly know, San Diego’s Comic-Con International happened this past weekend, and I was fortunate to be amongst the tens of thousands of attendees. There was, as always, a mega-ton to see and do, and it was hard to keep the Fomo (Fear Of Missing Out) from getting completely out of control over the 4.5 days of the con. To stay sane, though, at some point you just have to accept that you’re going to miss a bunch, and focus on what you do have the opportunity to see.
