For the Birds
Famous Studios began its last year of the revived Screen Songs with this one. It follows the standard format of three minutes of gags on a common theme -- in this case, birds -- and devotes its second half to a chorus singing the song; in this case it's "Let's All Sing Like The Birdies Sing". It was never a popular song even among the kids. It was the sort of music favored by dull adults who wanted something appropriate for children, without any idea of what children were like.
The original Screen Songs ran 15 years, from 1924 through 1938. The revival in the late 1940s ranged from all right to puerile. Guess where I place this.
