Guess Who's Robin Hood
Herman is Robin Hood and Katnip the evil tax collector in this ambitious but mediocre entry into the series.
The ambition shows early on in an original song and a nice point-of-view shot of Katnip as he laughs maniacally over his forthcoming oppression of the poor mice. Otherwise it's a series of decent gags that don't seem to add anything to the situations, just mean-spirited pain. Of course, that was the usual sequence of events in this series, but the over-the-top performances make this seem camp.
I usually enjoyed the Herman & Katnip cartoons when I was a child, mostly for the little-guys-against-the-big-guy theme and the great voice that Arnold Stang used for Herman. This one, though, is just fair.
