Documents drama from Hammer
This certainly not the sort of film that you would expect to be produced by Hammer. It is a document drama about the lives of miners in the early thirties. It is a really curious mixture. There are scenes showing the work and training of rescue parties at the scene of mining disasters. There are scenes of miners recreation including a brief scene at a Football League match at Hanley.I wonder what the match was. There is a scene at a gala with a rather stout lady belting out a sturdy rendition of "Wales".It has to be said that there is no linear narrative.Although amateurish this is a nostalgic remembrance of a once dominant but now extinct industry.
