This show was sold to more countries worldwide than its fellow PBS show, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
For the series' fourth season (1974-75), the Zoomers performed in a recurring soap-opera style segment called "As The World ZOOMS." The principle setting for this segment was the ZOOM Inn - Your Last Resort. Each Zoomer portrayed a different character. Harvey Reed portrayed Mr. Williams - the ZOOM Inn's manager whose dream is to manage a Rock 'n Roll band; David O'Brien portrayed Frank - a bellhop, and his alter ego, Superclerk; Carmen Hernandez portrayed Bertha - a warmhearted waitress at the Inn's Grille who treats the customers right; Andrae Neilsan portrayed Dear Blabby - an advice columnist willing to help people with their troubles; even if they don't want her to; Norman Christian portrayed Prof. Von Dummkopf - the Inn's handyman said to have once been a great scientist, but can't seem to get the elevator fixed; Cate Wadsworth portrayed Chef Loozanya - the Grille's excitable French Chef; Tishy Flaherty portrayed Tootsie - a singer who used to sing in some of the biggest places in America; David Azzoto portrayed Rock 'n Roll Ricky - an electric guitarist; Tracey Dunlap portrayed Blockbuster Bonnie - a daredevil roller girl who thinks the world ought to go around on roller skates and Tommy Schultz portrayed Maxie - who supposedly used to be a gangster.
