Beck and Phoenix will go on a U.S. tour, entitled Summer Odyssey, together this year. Weyes Blood, Japanese Breakfast, Jenny Lewis and Sir Chloe will serve as opening acts at select concerts.
In 2018, Beck joined Phoenix at the band’s Los Angeles residency, but this tour is their first major collaboration.
Beck most recently released an album entitled Hyperspace in 2019 while Phoenix dropped Alpha Zulu late last year.
Beck was scheduled to open for Arcade Fire during the band’s North American tour in support of their 2022 album We, but he left after bandleader Win Butler was accused of sexual misconduct by several women.

After announcing their co-headlining tour earlier this year, Beck and Phoenix have teamed up to release a new collaboration titled “Odyssey.” The pair of artists will set out on their “Summer Odyssey Tour” this August.
The collaboration is a shimmering pop song with nods to kitschy Eighties pop. It’s a massive, catchy number that feels most reminiscent of the French rock band’s early, festival-friendly big pop-rock hits.

Ahead of their upcoming co-headlining “Summer Odyssey Tour,” Beck and Phoenix have shared a collaborative new single appropriately titled “Odyssey.” Check it out below.
“Odyssey” is a bubbly, über-electric track, where bass, synthesizers, and marimba combine for a vibrant summer theme song. Written and produced by Beck and Phoenix and mixed by Serban Ghenea, the track sees Beck and Thomas Mars trade verses before joining together for the chorus: “Somewhere/ We’ll fall into the ocean/ I’ll be there/ On an odyssey in the sun.”
The “Summer Odyssey Tour” begins August 1st and features support from Jenny Lewis, Sir Chloe, Japanese Breakfast, and Weyes Blood on select dates. Tickets are on sale here.
Phoenix’s last album was 2022’s Alpha Zulu, while earlier this year they shared a remix of the album cut “After Midnight” featuring Clairo. Back in February, Beck followed his 2019 album Hyperspace with the single “Thinking About You.

If you’re an avid music fan, by now you might have heard of Boygenius, the supergroup trio made up of acclaimed indie singer-songwriters Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus, and Phoebe Bridgers. The group, both as a trio and as soloists, have enjoyed critical acclaim, now more than ever with the release of their official, debut full-length album, “The Record.” It scored a 90 on Metacritic, indicating widespread critical acclaim. As such, it is one of the best reviewed albums of the year so far. So many are already touting the band to get some Grammy love in the alternative field. But what if they cross over to the big leagues?

Beck managed to assemble one of the most remarkable impromptu supergroups of all time during a special benefit concert hosted by Judd Apatow in Los Angeles Tuesday night, Aug. 16.
The show at the famed L.A. venue Largo raised money for Victims First and was set to just feature a performance from Beck, accompanied on piano by celebrated producer Greg Kurstin (the pair have worked together on Beck’s last two albums, Colors and Hyperspace). But as the show went on, more people started appearing onstage, including Tenacious D — the...

Beck has released a new remix of his Hyperspace track “Chemical” ahead of the 2019 album’s Record Store Day reissue Saturday, with Chloé Caillet putting a synthy, dance spin on the spaced-out song.
Beck’s Record Store Day rerelease of Hyperspace is a limited-edition reissue of the album’s 2020 variant, which included bonus tracks like “Dark Places (Soundscape)” and a solo acoustic version of Chris Bell’s “I Am the Cosmos,” plus a 24-page booklet with A.I. images and NASA data for each track. The rock and alternative fields at the Grammys are always interesting. Due to their eclectic mix of hard rock, alternative pop, and pop/rock, the fields are often a fun blend of commercial and critical picks, as well as some beloved industry players we see often. This year in particular, with no nomination review committees to filter the noms, who could we see get recognition in these coveted categories?
SEETop 4 Grammy trends to watch out for now that the nomination review committees are gone
First, let’s start with last season’s leftovers. Music from some of the 2021 nominees is eligible, with the exception of tracks from Best Alternative Album winner “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” by Fiona Apple, Best Engineered Album winner “Hyperspace” by Beck, and Best Rock Album winner “The New Abnormal” by The Strokes (and any other Grammy-winning album in other genres).
That’s because the Grammy rules state,...

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards are held in 2021, but the eligibility period for these kudos celebrating the best in music actually started on September 1, 2019, ending on August 31, 2020. So who will win Album of the Year?
This eligibility period is new for the Grammys. The recording academy moved up their calendar in 2020 in response to the Oscars, which moved their ceremony up to early February, which was when the Grammys usually aired. So the Grammys shifted their telecast to early January and adopted an eligibility calendar that ended a month earlier.

But that’s not the only change the Grammys have undergone in recent years. For the 61st annual event held in 2019, the academy expanded its top four general field categories from five nominees to eight in part as a response to criticisms over a lack of diversity among the nominees and winners.

Beck delivered a clever rendition of his Hyperspace single “Uneventful Days” Tuesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live, with the singer turning the late-night show’s studio into his own music video set.
For the performance, Beck employed a video backdrop, a camera fixed to a circular track and a mock cubicle to go on a journey from the everyday mundane to the cosmic in a scant three minutes.
Beck opened the performance by simply singing “Uneventful Days” in a cubicle complete with a “Hang in There” poster. The cubicle walls were...

Trippie Redd streamed his way to Number One on the Rolling Stone Top 200 Albums chart with A Love Letter to You 4. The rising rapper’s new collection — which sprawls over 21 tracks and incorporate guest verses from Juice Wrld, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and Lil Mosey — earned 125 million streams. That was more than enough to take Number One over Frozen 2: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and Jason Aldean’s new set 9.

Somewhere inside every album Beck has made since Mellow Gold — his 1994 surprise attack of slippery irony and hip-hop bravado — is the solo folk-blues singer caught on that year’s One Foot in the Grave, writing about despair with a surrealist edge while turned toward hope. That is the Beck who jumps out here in “Saw Lightning,” in looping spasms of acoustic, skidding Delta slide guitar.

Beck effortlessly rolled through a string of Prince’s biggest hits in the new video for “The Paisley Experience,” recorded at the late musician’s Paisley Park Studios. “The Paisley Experience” experience appears on Beck’s new three-track Ep, Paisley Park Sessions, released last week exclusively via Amazon Music.

Beck recruited Pharrell Williams for the singer’s new track “Saw Lightning,” the first single off his upcoming new album Hyperspace. Beck and Williams co-wrote and co-produced the track, which melds the jangly acoustic guitar of Beck’s folksier work with the dancefloor-ready programmed beats prominent in his 2017 LP Colors; Williams also contributes, according to the song credits, “drums, keyboards and mumbles” to the track.
“Saw Lightning” also features as part of an upcoming Beats by Dre ad campaign helmed by Atlanta and “This Is America” director Hiro Murai.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s been out for nearly a month now and so far, has been met with widespread critical acclaim. That said, there is a certain disquiet rumbling amongst a subset of the fandom due to the movie’s bold choices and unexpected turns. In contrast to the familiar, nostalgia-tinged The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi is keen to challenge our presumptions about the saga.
All that said, it’s still made with a lot of love for what has come before and as such features many a nod to the previous films in the franchise. There are some great obvious ones, for example, such as R2-D2 replaying Leia’s hologram message from A New Hope, the attack on Crait calling back to the Battle of Hoth and, last but not least, the poorly-kept secret that was Yoda’s cameo.
However, Episode VIII also features a...
