This is a typically excellent Felix the Cat cartoon, although I could have done without the sound effects added for a rerelease in the sound era: everyone mumbles and chuckles and it's just annoying.
Still, the gags provided by uncredited director Otto Messmer are funny and surprising, as Felix winds up walking into a picture and dealing with various armored knights. There are also the usual transformation gags, as Felix deals with a locked door via thought balloons.
Felix was enormously popular during the silent era with hundreds of merchandising tie-ins and comic strips. Then his popularity fell off a cliff during the early sound era and the purely visual jokes of silent movies fell out of favor. A pity, but a lot of the cartoons still survive and can be found.
