Felix the Cat is uncharacteristically vicious in this outing. He has a gun and runs about trying to shoot all the different animals-- but each but on suits of armor and the bullets just bounce off him-- thwarting Felix's murderous rage.
Soon a knight runs by--being chased by an army of knights. So, Felix quickly creates a car and they make a getaway. Then, using gasoline, he rids the kingdom of these invaders. In gratitude the king gives him a key to the pantry...which ends the film on a very poor note.
Sure there are tons of anachronisms in this one...but it IS a cartoon...so I can look past this. However, what I can't look past is that the cartoon really isn't funny and the ending very anticlimactic.
By the way, the sound effects are added much later--when studios began inserting sound (often clumsily) into silent cartoons to make them more marketable because talkies were now the rage.
