The state of Marriage in Italy at that time.

This is an ensemble piece with familiar faces from the Italian cinema. It starts at Christmas time when the focus of the holiday is gathering together with the family. The women are very strong characters who think they know what they want, but sometimes little hold-ups in a schedule precipitate a crisis. This is true for the men involved as well. The children who are under twelve are truly charming. The teenagers have their own issues to deal with. By the end of the New Year, it is a happy ending, even though not all the problems have been solved, and for this light-hearted comedy/drama, that is just what the writers ordered. This film is available in Italian with English sub-titles for those of you who do not understand the language. I do recommend it heartily. There are many memorable moments and some extraordinary scenes. Thank you.
