Italian censorship visa # 74530 delivered on 19 January 1980.
This film has a curious genesis: the producers of 'Zombi 2,' Ugo Tucci and Fabrizio De Angelis, in agreement with Sergio Salvati (director of photography), during the shooting of Lucio Fulci's film decide to take advantage of the locations (American especially) to shoot (Saturday and Sunday) another film. Initially it is a soft one, with the working title 'The Diary of a Porn Hostess.' Main actors appear to be in fact both Al Cliver and Stefania D'Amario, both featured in Zombi 2. The subject matter of the film is still not well defined, and the crew proceeds with occasional shoots inserting the protagonists in disconnected contexts, to take advantage of the sets of Fulci's most famous title. Upon returning to Italy, Romano Scandariato writes a screenplay for which interior scenes are implemented, had Marino Girolami shoot them. Thus was born 'Deep Sex,' in its soft form of about 77 minutes.
The film is an adult comedy with some hardcore scenes, some of them practiced by anonymous body doubles and other one by the leading actors (like when Marcella Petrelli is fingering herself or having her vagina licked by Venantino Venantini). Lead actor Al Cliver explained in an interview on the DVD that he was outraged that the hardcore version of the film was released without his knowledge. He had believed during the report that detail footage of his erect penis would be used only for an internal film and then cropped and removed in the edit.
Director Marino Girolami used the pseudonym Frank Martin, and actress Stefania D'Amario used the pseudonym Evelyne Barnett.
