Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden is trying her hand at something new. The actress has landed the lead role in NBC's latest comedy pilot, "Isabel."
Harden will play Francis, the matriarch of a "normal middle-class family that wrestles with the challenges of everyday life while raising a daughter (Sophia Mitri Schloss from 'Grimm') who has magical qualities," according to Entertainment Weekly.
"Isabel" will have Howard Busgang ("The Closer") and Tom Nursall ("Single White Spenny") as its showrunners.
This is the third time in the past four years that Harden has signed on for a TV pilot. Last year, she did ABC's sitcom "Smothered," and in 2008, she did CBS' "The Tower." But neither made it to air.
Could the magic "Isabel" prove that third time's the charm?
Harden is quite the accomplished actress of film, stage and television. Besides her Academy Award for "Pollock," she received a Tony Award for "God of Carnage,...

It's either Gordon Ramsay night or Misery Night or, if you're on one of Gordon Ramsay's shows, it's both! There's also some season finales signaling the beginning of the August doldrums of television shows where everything is in reruns or some lame show that the network decided to dump at the end of summer because they knew everyone would be either too hot to care or busily making vacation plans since they just realized it's goddamn August already. However, most of the season finales are for shows that I haven't seen any chatter about here anyway ("Basketball Wives" anyone?) so I hope none of you are adversely affected. Anyway, here's your Monday night TV:
8:00pm: "Bachelor Pad" on ABC. Three hour second season premiere. Wait, second season? I think my brain erased all previous memories of this show because I literally had no clue that it existed before...

While Britain's TV dramas wallow in working-class life (see: Shameless, EastEnders, Coronation Street, The Royle Family), American soaps have always tended to be glittering and glamorous.
Who can forget the sheer escapism of classics like Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest and Flamingo Road with their spotlight on the rich and beautiful?

TNT debuted a preview of the new Dallas during The Closer on Monday night. Watch it here or below.
Last week TNT gave the greenlight to Dallas, an all-new series based upon one of the most popular television dramas of all time, about the bitter rivalries and family power struggles within a Texas oil and cattle-ranching dynasty. Famous for its ratings-grabbing cliffhangers, the original series was known for its wealth, seduction, scandal and intrigues.
Set in the big state of Texas, TNT’s new Dallas — from Warner Horizon Television — also lives life large and in the fast lane and brings a new generation of stars together with cast members from the original drama series. The new Dallas stars Josh Henderson (90210), Jesse Metcalfe (Passions), Jordana Brewster (As The World Turns), Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) and Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives), and they will be joined by iconic stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman as J.

They will be joined by original series stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing.
