I'm digging the "untold stories" storyline in season six of Once Upon a Time. I like how each week a story is told and then essentially completed, all while intertwining with Emma and friends for Operation Cobra - Part Two. In "The Other Shoe," Emma tries to help Cinderella finish her untold story, which isn't what she thought. Meanwhile, the Evil Queen seeks help from a locked up Hyde, and Regina seeks help from Hyde's counterpart, Dr. Jekyll. And David seeks Gold's help for information on his father.

The Dark Ones gather in the year's penultimate Once Upon Of Time episode, the aptly titled Broken Heart...
This review contains spoilers.
5.10 Broken Heart
A lot of characters (and shippers’ hearts) were broken on this week’s episode of Once Upon A Time, aptly named Broken Heart.
We experienced our first taste of Dark Hook, and he did not disappoint. Back in his leathers and with a slightly new hairstyle, he is the image of a swoon-worthy swaggering pirate. Well, except for the whole evil bit, like when he tells Emma she will always be an orphan. He knows how to hurt.
Unlike Emma, who managed to hold off the darkness for days (weeks? Months? The passage of time is very foggy), Hook is consumed by it in a matter of hours. Besides Hook telling Emma he’s not strong enough, I think it’s also due to his circumstances.

Tonight's Once Upon a Time may have been all about "The Evil Queen," but one of the things it drove home to me was that Hook can't trust anyone. He's been used by Emma, Cora, Regina, and now Tamara and Greg.
He may frequently end up on the losing end, but I've got to give him credit. He wasn't kidding when he said he excelled at surviving to fight another day. He certainly never gives up. If he had more of a heart I might even like him paired up with Emma instead of Neal.
But this hour was about Regina's story, both past and future.
In the fairytale past... the queen was still hunting Snow and would leave no stone unturned, no matter what it took. Yet somehow her warped view of reality wouldn't allow her to understand why she could never inspire love from her people. As Rumpelstiltskin...

Once Upon A Time, Season 2, Episode 20: “The Evil Queen”
Written by Jane Espenson & Christine Boylan
Directed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on ABC
Hold on to your seats! This week’s Once Upon a Time shot out of a cannon, with full force. Props need to be given strongly to the writers with this week’s episode. There was drama, action and nail biting suspense, as they lay the ground work for the closing of Season Two.
A few minutes into the episode and we discover that this week’s past Enchanted Forest storyline is going to be about Regina. The episodes that contain Regina’s past storyline are often entertaining, in the fact that Rumplestiltskin and Snow usually grace the plot at least once or twice. It’s nice seeing how the relationship with Rumplestiltskin and Regina has grown. Often in the past Enchanted Forest...

Even without a lot of Regina in this week’s episode of Once Upon a Time, we took a long look at the mothers of the show and how they put their children first. It’s a theme well tread in television shows and while it helped bridge the three timelines (fairytale land that was, fairytale land now and Storybrooke), it was a bit ham-fisted and hackneyed.
In fairytale land that was, we learn King George cursed Snow White – yup, she gets cursed a lot on this show – to never have children. Of course we know that’s not going to last since, well… Emma. The fun in the story is figuring out how she gets cured.
She and Prince Charming later meet up with his mother, who is quickly injured quite badly in an attack from King George’s men. Lancelot, a fallen solider of the Knight’s Round Table,...

Prolific novelist best known for 633 Squadron, his book that was turned into a classic second world war film in 1964
The film 633 Squadron (1964) is a classic among second world war movies, despite what many see as wooden acting from its leads, Cliff Robertson, George Chakiris and Maria Perschy. Frederick E Smith, who has died aged 93, wrote the book upon which it was based. He did not consider it to be among his best novels, but acknowledged that it was the one with which his name would always be associated.
In the 1956 novel, the (fictional) air squadron is sent to aid the efforts of the Norwegian resistance, originally flying Douglas Boston bombers before they are re-equipped with the Mosquitos that were to become a striking aspect of the film. The squadron undertakes a doomed mission to bomb a well-protected German hydro-electric plant at the head of a Norwegian fjord, the novel ending...

“An Apple Red As Blood” Air Date: 5/6/2012
In the last episode before next week’s season finale, we open on a way too long nightmare where Regina is taken by the townspeople of Storybrooke and about to be sentenced to death for her wrongdoings. It’s weird to see Regina scared, as she’s the vicious evil queen. But this propels her into action to keep Henry, and to keep the curse alive, and subtract Emma from the picture once and for all.
Emma had practically kidnapped Henry and is trying to leave Storybrooke and never look back, but Henry rebels and turns the car around. He doesn’t want to leave. Emma’s destiny is to break the curse, whether she likes it or not. Henry goes to August for help on Operation Cobra, but August, more wooden than ever, has given up and is...

“The Stranger” Air Date: 4/29/2012
It took 20 episodes, but you’ll finally know who Eoin Bailey’s August/The Stranger is by the end of the first act in this Sunday’s episode. Last week, the writers did a solid job making us think he was Rumpelstiltskin’s son Baelfire, but ABC pulled the ole switcheroo at the last moment. It’s almost impossible to review this episode without revealing who he is in fairy tale lore because even the most basic plot outline makes it overwhelmingly obvious, so you have been warned (that was a Spoiler Alert, by the way). Skip to the last paragraph for my final summarization of the episode if you don’t want it Spoiled.
We begin at Emma and Mary Margaret’s bachelorette pad, where August is finishing up fashioning a new lock on their front door, one that Regina wouldn’t have a key to.

Molly: I was pretty thrilled to see her using her wolf-y powers in fairy tale world. I just wish she would do that more in Storybrooke. She could be a very powerful character if she joined up with Emma at the sheriff's department or just did something more interesting with her time.

Once Upon a Time 1.13 Review: Secrets Are Exposed & True Love is Rekindled
Don't let the title of this week's Once Upon a Time review fool you. The truth is that secrets are exposed in Storybrooke, but that doesn't mean that anyone ends up with the person they love. In fact, it's the opposite. But we'll get to that shortly.
Let's start with the fairytale world in this week's Once Upon a Time, which was slightly more hopeful overall. This episode is dated shortly after the last Charming/Snow White episode we saw. Snow had told Charming she didn't love him in order to save his life and then went off with the dwarfs, but Charming called off his wedding to Abigail regardless. Now, he's on the trail to find Snow. Unfortunately, King George is right behind him, hoping to bring him to heel. Charming is momentarily kidnapped, only to be...

"Desperate Souls" put Operation Cobra in danger, as Storybrooke was rocked by the aftermath of Graham's death. The good Sheriff left a void that needed to be filled, but it was no surprise that Emma and Regina had different plans for accomplishing that goal.
Let's rundown the first Once Upon a Time episode of 2012, shall we?
Regina's in the clear. Who would expect the mayor of their little town had a room underneath the cemetery that was full of hearts she could crush on a whim?
Regina was feeling invincible as she fired Emma and tried to fill the role of Sheriff with her own lackey. Honestly, other than being the mayor's yes man, what possible experience did Sidney possess? Just because you write about law enforcement doesn't mean your qualified to do the job. It made Regina seem truly desperate to hold onto her base of power.
Henry's depressed and scared.

This week on "Once Upon a Time," people seem to have moved on fairly quickly from Sheriff Graham's untimely demise.
Fairytale Land
Rumpelstiltskin, before he's who we all know and love, was a peasant farmer and the town coward. The Duke's men take his son Balthar to fight in the Ogre war. An old man approaches Rumpel to steal the dagger the Duke is using to enthrall the "dark one," which will help him keep his son safe. The old man says there is a name written on the dagger - the true name of the "dark one."
So Rumpel and his son set the Duke's castle on fire and Rumpel steals the dagger. He conjurs and takes control of the "dark one," then stabs him with the dagger and discovers it is now his name (Rumpelstiltskin) written on the dagger.
Rumpel is now the "dark one" and stands up...

But the January return of Once Upon a Time didn't tease out Rumpelstiltskin's origin story. In less than an hour we know exactly how and why he went from a mild-mannered villager and father to an evil and somewhat crazy creature capable of great magic.
This week's Once Upon a Time was all about the episode title: desperate souls. As it turns out, Rumple had once been a solider. At least until he deserted his post and returned to a wife who didn't want to be married to an Awol soldier. She left him and their young son (Baelfire) and Rumple raised the boy himself. Just before Bae's 14th birthday,...

When we left the magic world of last month Once Upon a Time, Sheriff Graham had his heart crushed. Literally.
What will be the ramifications of this tragedy? We checked in with Raphael Sbarge - who plays both town therapist Archie Hopper and the fairy tale world's Jiminy Cricket - to find out how the residents of Storybrooke are handling Graham's untimely demise.
"Killing off the sheriff... a lot of people were shocked and even heartbroken about it," Sbarge told me over the phone." I think that keeps the pressure and sense of danger up."
But do any of the characters suspect that Regina had anything to do with Graham dying?
"I'm not allowed to speak into the future but I doubt it," the actor said, allowing for this little tease: "There's an episode coming up with Rumplestiltskin where you will find out a lot more about him."

This is a very Rumpelstiltskin /Mr. Gold heavy episode, and that is all to the good, because Robert Carlyle is a glorious old ham, full of catch phrases and broad gestures. The episode focuses on Cinderella in Fairy Tale world, who is Ashley the maid, unwed and very very pregnant, and trying to leave town. Emma works briefly for Mr. Gold, but relates a lot to a woman wanting to keep her baby, because she gave up her own.

Once Upon a Time‘s Emma Swan may not have an enchanted backstory to explore, but this Sunday’s episode of ABC’s freshman hit nonetheless will shed light on the bail bondsperson’s past by way of a young woman who once rode to a ball in a pumpkin. Or, more accurately, through a tale told about Cinderella’s pregnant Storybrooke counterpart.
“Ashley-slash-Cinderella (played by Falling Skies‘ Jessy Schram) is definitely a character Emma relates to,” Once star Jennifer Morrison shares in the video Q&A below. As such, as Ashley’s story unfolds, “I put myself on the...

In tonight’s chapter, we get some backstory on how Regina became the Evil Queen with no soul; we realize that Mayor Regina may not actually remember she’s the Evil Queen, and continue playing spot the fairy tale character in Maine. The show takes place in two worlds and two time periods: we flash from present day Maine to the fairy tale origins.
Cat Stevens in the first scene is a nice touch as the townspeople wake up...
