After the car rear-ends the semi trailer and bursts into flames, Meat Loaf's character pulls up to examine the wreckage and there are obviously no bodies in the vehicle, even though there were two men in the car when it crashed.
In chapter 17 when Jack runs Reds truck off the road the front tire of Reds truck blows out, in the following scene the tire is fine.
In the first attack on the rig, the Camaro is forced off the road and we see damage to the front bumper. When it returns to the road, the bumper is intact.
Towards the end of the movie, the front passenger headlight on the red truck is alternately broken/intact between shots.
When Crews pull up to the truck scale, axle #3 show's it weight at 16,360lbs. As he pulls up again to weight the last two axles, axle #3 shows it's weight at 16,260lbs
When Crewes is in the garage and Junior is telling him about the truck, Junior says the truck is equipped with an Eaton-Fuller 10 speed. However, in the scene where Crewe's truck is being blocked in and it shows Crewes shifting, the pattern on the shift knob indicates it is a 9-speed transmission.
Crewes makes a big deal about loving Caterpillar engines, yet the sound of the truck is clearly a Detroit Diesel.
Gun smuggling investigations are not in the jurisdiction of the FBI.
The ATF agent said there were reports of 4 trucks slamming each other over 7 miles of interstate. The road they were on was not interstate as evidenced by the double yellow line and no median between the opposing traffic lanes.
Sonny (Gabriel Casseus) says, "break for a 10-36 because Wes (Brian Vincent) has to use the restroom. 10-36 isn't the code for restroom break, it's a request for time of day (ie. "what time is it?").
In chapter 17 when Red's hijacker is on the catwalk of the Peterbilt he removes the glad-hand air lines from the trailer. This action would drain all the air out of the trailer causing the trailer brakes to lock up and the wheels to skid.
In the Weigh Station Scenes, you notice the "North Carolina State Highway Patrol" is the Law Enforcement Agency that mans the Weigh Station. In reality, prior to January 2003, "North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Section" was the chief agency for North Carolina that enforced "Size and Weight" Laws and staffed the Weigh Stations of North Carolina.
When Cutler is offering Jack the job, he says, "Job pays ten grand," but it is clearly a different actor saying the line.
When Sonny and Jack open the back door of the trailer to examine the contents, the black dog barks several times as it comes out, but its mouth isn't moving.
Near the end of the movie, three sedans come screeching into the shipyard, and at least 18 car doors can be heard slamming shut as passengers get out.
During the scene where Jack fights the man on the outside of the speeding truck, you can clearly see his safety cable as he dangles off the side of the cab.
During the final duel between Red & Crews, the steel roll bar safety cage can be seen supporting Red's tractor just before the explosion.
There was no reason for Crewes to be on I-26, if he were heading from Georgia to New York City. I-26 goes northwest from I85 in South Carolina, and ends at I40 near Asheville, North Carolina. This would take Crewes several hours out of his way, and would also leave them subject to crossing two additional weigh stations as they backtracked across to I40 to get back to I85 so they could resume a course towards New York City - hardly a wise move for an unlicensed driver who was hauling illegal cargo. If they wanted to avoid detection, they would more likely take a secondary road, such as US221, to bypass the scales altogether. Correction, You can take I26 to north of Asheville, NC. The cut over to I81 north.
The film takes place on the docks in New Jersey. but at the end of the movie when Earl is on the gurney fixing to be put in the ambulance , the side of the ambulance says "New Hanover County rescue" which is the county where most of the film was filmed.
The scale scene was filmed at the scale outside Atlanta, Ga on I-20 east on the west side of Atlanta and the sign on the building says "North Carolina Dept Of Transportation".
Crewes tells his wife he is in North Carolina on his way to New Jersey. Later, he comes to the interchange of I-85 and I-26 which is in South Carolina.
When Crews is telling the story of his accident on the Atlanta run, he states that he was running up I-75. If he was running Atlanta to New Jersey or New York, as would be assumed if he was trying to make it home for his daughter's birthday, he would not have been on 75 as that would take him through Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and eventually through Michigan.
In chapter 12 when he pulls on the scale at the weigh station his trailer axles make a combined weight of 35,180lbs. The limit is 34,000lbs - add the broken head light assembly and the D.O.T would not have thought twice about stopping him for good. Additionally, any weigh station inspection is going to require the Motor Carrier Enforcement officers to check the driver's license, bills of lading for their cargo, insurance, and permits, which was not done during the scale house scene.
People convicted of vehicular manslaughter are ineligible from receiving commercial driver's licenses. There's no way Crews ever would have received license to drive a big rig again.
