The film was shot at the Alamo Village, the movie set originally created for John Wayne's The Alamo (1960).
This is the only Wong Fei-Hung film shot in the US.
In the book "I Am Jackie Chan", Chan accused director Sammo Hung of stealing the main idea of the film, a Chinese martial artist losing his memory in the Wild West, from him. The friends apparently avoided another one of their periodic falling outs cause Sammo apologized to Jackie for the theft.
The DVD by Ritek plus the Blu-Ray releases by Eureka and Criterion contain the original sync-sound Mandarin track. All other versions are dubbed without the cast's real voices.
