CLEVER SCRIPT MAKES ENJOYABLE FILM
J. Steed10 September 1999
Though the content of the story is already often told (employee/ex-lover beats her boss/ex-boyfriend with his own weapons); the format is here used to observe the relation between West and East Germans from the comic side, mixed however with the observation of the relation between men and women. This results in a fresh, very enjoyable and well-paced comedy due to a clever script with some very witty dialogue (that gave me quite some laughs) and subtle direction by Suzanne Zanke; the direction is proof that well-timed comedy ìs possible within the German cinema. Zanke is supported by a fine cast obviously enjoying doing this one; of the cast I would like to mention Oliver Hasenfratz (as Meiser) who has a fine comic talent.
