Oprah Winfrey and Katy Perry are the latest among the thousands of Californians to be affected as the Thomas Fire rages on, becoming the third-largest wildfire in the state’s history.
Winfrey, who has a home in the coastal city of Montecito, said in a tweet on Saturday that while her house was “so far still standing,” the situation is not getting any easier for those on the scene.
“Still praying for our little town,” the 63-year-old host wrote. “Winds picked up this morning creating a perfect storm of bad for firefighters.”

Marvel’s Inhumans made its small-screen debut on Friday night to 3.8 million total viewers and a 0.9 demo rating, shy of what ABC’s Last Man Standing/Dr. Ken sitcombo (5.4 mil/1.0) and Shark Tank (5.1 mil/1.2) averaged last season in the two-hour block.

We’re sad to report that three fatalities occurred over the weekend at the ninth annual Hard Summer. As is far too often the case with music festivals, two women and one man died at the event, which took place over an extremely hot couple of days.
Two deaths occurred on the Saturday, while the last reported death occurred on the festival’s final day, on Sunday. Hard Summer worked hard not to repeat history after two people died at last year’s event, but their efforts were obviously not enough to prevent additional fatalities this year.
Captain Horace Boatwright of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department stated that the hot weather was likely a contributing factor to the deaths, though we won’t know for sure what happened until the coroner’s report is released. In addition to the fatalities, more than 300 festival goers were arrested over the weekend as well,...

More death is coming to "True Blood" Season 6.
According to new cast member Rob Kazinsky (Warlow on "True Blood"), the grim reaper visits Bon Temps quite a bit this season and the deaths are "going to greatly change the tone of the show."
"I'll let you in on a secret: There are multiple deaths this season," he told Access Hollywood. "Each is more shocking than the next and just when you think somebody just couldn’t bite the bullet, there they go."
Michael McMillian, who plays Steve Newlin on "True Blood," also teased a huge death that changes the show.
“I obviously can’t say who it is, but I was definitely surprised when I found out,” McMillian told Hollywood Life.
Two deaths rocked "True Blood" in the Sunday, July 21 episode. Terry (Todd Lowe) and Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard) kicked the bucket. Lowe said Terry's death will send Arlene...

Two deaths and a wedding! No, that isn't a prequel to Four Weddings and a Funeral, it's what went down this week on TV. Revenge reawakened Emily's (Emily VanCamp) need for revenge after killing off someone very close to her, and The Vampire Diaries reduced us to sobs and snot (it wasn't pretty!) with the heartbreaking death of one of our beloved characters whose been around since day one. But hey, at least Parks and Recreation made us cry the good kind of tears with the most ridiculously perfect wedding ever. We love you and like you, show! Elsewhere, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) kissed another roommate on New Girl (and she didn't even have pink wine, which makes her slutty, as an excuse!) and a fan...

Chicago – Crime novelist Marcus Sakey takes his witty voice as an author to another medium tonight with the debut of The Travel Channel’s “Hidden City.” The first episode focuses on three of the most notable stories of the past of our fair windy city and the series displays potential to become the next breakout cable hit a la the network’s “No Reservations” with Anthony Bourdain.
Television Rating: 4.0/5.0
Chicagoan Sakey has developed quite a following, along with comparisons to Dennis Lehane & Elmore Leonard, with the hit books — “The Blade Itself,” “Good People,” “At the City’s Edge,” “The Amateurs,” and “The Two Deaths of Daniel Hayes.” His books have been chosen among the best of the year by Esquire and The New York Times. He has a distinct authorial voice and that makes him a perfect for the personality-driven era of TV, in which more and more programs seem...

One morning, Quincas Wateryell (Paulo Jose) doesn’t wake up after another night of partying in sleazy bars and brothels. Once audiences make sense of his work, Nicolas Roeg has usually moved on. As the film world rushes to canonise him, he tells Ryan Gilbey about the curse of bad timing
The mid-morning sun is creeping into the cluttered study of Nicolas Roeg's London home, not far from the bohemian hideout where a gangster and a pop star merged identities in his 1968 debut, Performance. Roeg, who is 82, is enthusing in his skittish way about the viewing habits of his teenage stepdaughter. "She lies on the sofa watching television and texting at the same time," he says, marvelling. "She'll look up at the screen and say, 'Yeah, it's quite good.' Fantastic! And she's taking it all in. That's the medium: six plots, all at the same time. You see a film now that's critically acclaimed and well-made but you think, 'Where are we going?' Youth is so exciting.

We've been counting down the biggest headlines of 2009, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December. Read on to take a look back at some of the stories that created the most buzz throughout the year. This year, we lost many stars, both old and young. Michael Jackson stole headlines over the Summer due to his passing, but we also spent the last 12 months mourning other public figures. Just two days into the year, John Travolta and Kelly Preston suffered the devastating loss of their son, Jett Travolta, after complications from a seizure. Michael Jackson's highly publicized death almost overshadowed the passing of Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon, who died within days of each other at the end of June. Beloved actor Patrick Swayze lost his battle with cancer in September, after a lengthy and courageous fight. Bea Arthur, meanwhile, passed in April at the age of...
