What would happen if the north pole starts to melt?
mhoeting27 October 1998
This movie shows the effect of the ozone-hole or rather of the heating of our atmosphere.

A typical German family (parents, two kids and a dog) live at the north coast during their holidays. The news tell about a scientist who warns the government about the high temperatures at the north pole and predicts a disaster - again. That's why no one listens to him.

But this time he is right and a huge ice chunk crashes into the ocean, causing a tidal wave (Sintflut = Deluge) heading towards Germany.

When the government decides to evacuate, it's too late. All through the film the story of the family's son, Benjamin, is told. When he urges his folks to leave the coast, when he gets into the disastrous storm losing his dog and surviving the Deluge in a church.

The special effects surely cannot compete with those from ILM but the actors do a very good job and thus the movie is worth watching it.
