Ahead of its November 2nd premiere on Wgn America, Salem Season 3 is teased in new character portraits featuring faces both familiar and new.
Press Release: Los Angeles, August 25, 2016 – In anticipation of the season three premiere of Wgn America’s hit supernatural thriller “Salem,” the network has released character portraits featuring the twisted and sexy cast, including the first-look at Samuel Roukin who portrays The Sentinel, a fallen angel and protector of the Devil boy (Oliver Bell). Season three of “Salem” will debut Halloween Week, Wednesday, November 2.
The third season of “Salem” dawns with the triumph of the witches’ plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital. But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself.

The 2016 Golden Globe Awards were held last night; it was a long one but thanks to host Ricky Gervais, it was anything but boring. The Revenant took home Best Picture – Drama, Best Director for Alejandro G. Iñárritu, and Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio. Some might hope that Leos’ Oscar chances are a lock now, but let’s remember that for some strange reason he didn’t win for Wolf of Wall Street. The Academy has already closed voting for Oscar nominations, so this award show has no claim to much.
The Martian won Best Picture – Comedy and Best Actor in a Comedy for Matt Damon, while the Best Actress honors went to Brie Larson for Room and Jennifer Lawrence for Joy. And our favorite actress, Kate Winslet, won for her supporting role in Steve Jobs. Also, Sylvester Stallone won for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Creed; his last...

The Revenant, The Martian, Sylvester Stallone, Leonardo diCaprio and Mr Robot win big at the Golden Globe awards. Here are the winners...
Might it just be Leonardo diCaprio's year, finally, at the Academy Awards? He and his latest movie, The Revenant, took a big step towards the Oscar stage by taking home the big prizes at the Golden Globe awards overnight. DiCaprio took home the best actor gong (for a drama), whilst The Revenant seized Best Motion Picture, Drama, beating out the early Oscar favourite, Spotlight.
Alejandro G Inarritu won Best Director for The Revenant, too.
Elsewhere? The Martian won big too, with Matt Damon earning the best actor prize in a musical or comedy, with the film itself winning Best Motion Picture (musical, or comedy). Sylvester Stallone nabbed Best Supporting Actor for his work in Creed, with Kate Winslet winning Best Supporting Actress for Steve Jobs.

Golden Globes: Michael Fassbender. 2016 Golden Globes winners, as they're announced The Golden Globes will be hosted once again by Ricky Gervais, who stirred up quite a to-do a few years ago with his three few-holds-barred, back-to-back gigs (2010–2012). At the time, Gervais roasted the rich and famous (and not so-famous) ceremony attendees (and several non-attendees), implying, at times without naming names, that Hollywood Scientologists (Tom Cruise and John Travolta) were gay, that Jodie Foster was a lesbian (a juvenile, cringeworthy joke about Foster's box office flop The Beaver, starring Mel Gibson), that Madonna was hardly like her song “Like a Virgin” (for which he got a rebuke), and so on. Expect more of same this year for the entertainment of those who can only wish they were rich and famous and getting drunk at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills this evening. Who's going to win? The Golden Globes ceremony...

And so it goes, Alejandro González Iñárritu's "The Revenant" derails Tom McCarthy's "Spotlight" from dominating award season by winning the most trophies at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards! Besides taking home the Best Picture Drama trophy, Leonardo DiCaprio also won the Best Actor Drama trophy while Iñárritu received the Best Director award.
The Golden Globes, given by the Hollywood Foreign Press, bestowed "The Martian" as the Best Picture Comedy of the year because it's really funny! According to host Ricky Gervais, "The Martian" was a lot funnier than "Pixels." True that! Matt Damon also won Best Actor Comedy for "The Martian."
Jennifer Lawrence took home the Best Actress Comedy trophy for "Joy" beating her bestie Amy Schumer for "Trainwreck." Brie Larson won the Best Actress Drama award for "Room."
In the supporting acting categories, Kate Winslet won actress for "Steve Jobs" while Sylvester Stallone received the actor trophy.

The 73rd annual Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning. On the movie side, "Carol" cleaned up, garnering the most nominations (five), while "The Big Short," "The Revenant," and "Steve Jobs" each earned four. Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Lawrence, who got no love in yesterday's SAG award nominations, were nominated, while Toms Hardy and Hanks were shut out again. And while Mark Ruffalo didn't nominated for "Spotlight," he did get one for "Infinitely Polar Bear," a movie few people had even heard of. "American Crime," "Fargo," "Mr. Robot," "Outlander," "Transparent," and "Wolf Hall" had the most individual show nominations, with three each. The major networks were nearly shut out entirely (with the exception of Fox's "Empire" and ABC's "American Crime"), with Netflix (eight), HBO (seven), Starz (six), Amazon (five), and FX (five) leading the nominations. NBC didn't get any, which means Lady Gaga officially got more Golden Globe nominations this year than all of NBC.

The nominations for the 73rd Annual Golden Globes have just been announced, and unlike yesterday’s Screen Actors Guild announcement, there wasn’t really anything in the way of surprises to be found. Todd Haynes’ gorgeous and well-acted drama Carol led the way with five nominations, including Best Picture – Drama, Best Director, two nods for Best Actress – Drama (Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara), and Best Original Score. The Big Short, The Revenant, and Steve Jobs followed with four nominations apiece.
What’s rather interesting to note about these nominations is that no film managed to hit every major spot on the list. The expected winner of Best Picture – Drama, Spotlight, also nabbed nominations in Best Director and Best Screenplay, but failed to get a single acting nod. As mentioned, Carol got in for Best Picture – Drama, as well as for Director and Acting, but failed to nab a Screenplay nod,...

Like many awards season buffs, I was up early to track the nominations for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards! Angela Bassett, America Ferrera, Chloe Grace Moretz and Dennis Quaid revealed the nominees. Brought to us by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), some of the nominees are predictable (love for "Spotlight," "Carol") and surprising (Al Pacino in "Danny Collins," or Mark Ruffalo for "Infinitely Polar Bear).

We first told you about Wgn America‘s first venture into original scripted TV, Salem, back in June. Production began in earnest in November, and now we have the first TV spot, featuring the voice of wonderful Seth Gabel (Fringe, Arrow) as Cotton Mather, sounding appropriately judgmental, according to my graduate studies back in the day.
The witches in the spot, however, take “historically accurate” and dump it straight into the lake. Excellent!
TV Spot: Salem
For more details, check out the press release from when production began last month:
Wgn America enters the world of the most notorious witch trials in history with its first original scripted series “Salem,” as production begins today in Shreveport, La on the provocative Fox 21 drama. On an expansive set reflecting volatile 17th century Massachusetts, “Salem” explores what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials and dares to uncover the dark, supernatural truth behind them.

People working in the TV world celebrated the arrival of the third quarter of 2009 when the biggest television event, the Emmys, was held in September. Preceded by Creative Emmy Awards, the event was, for some, the eventual payday of their hard work throughout the last year. Also coming into the spotlight is a major change in a very popular show that sent a shock to its fans in the month of August.

The date for the premiere of long-delayed "Parenthood" has been announced when NBC unveils its 2010 midseason schedule. The drama that originally was Maura Tierney's starring vehicle skipped the Fall season to debut on Monday, March 1 being led by "Chuck".
Tierney had to undergo a medical treatment and was unable to continue her commitment to the show. She was eventually replaced by Lauren Graham. This midseason, the series premieres just right after "Heroes" wraps up its season finale on February 8 and NBC finishes its Winter Olympics cover on February 28.
As previously reported, the almost-canceled "Chuck" will begin the third season on Sunday, January 10 with a two back-to-back episode starting 9/8c. It will move to the regular slot on Mondays beginning January 11 at 8/7c.
At the same time, NBC announced that this season's "The Biggest Loser" would be another "Couples" edition. Comprised of 11 pairs, the competition will begin on January 5. Meanwhile,...

Lauren Graham comes back to the small screen this spring on NBC's "Parenthood" -- check her out in the video below.
Graham has been cast as Sarah, the 38 year-old single mother of teenagers Amber (Mae Whitman) and Drew (Miles Heizer). She is the second-oldest child of Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia) Braverman.
Graham took over the role of Sarah from Maura Tierney, who was forced to leave the show to receive treatment for cancer. We hope everything is going well for Tierney, but cannot deny we are excited to see Lauren Graham back on TV. We were big fans of her on "Gilmore Girls."
"Parenthood" premieres on NBC in March.

Lauren Graham returns to television as a mom. The "Gilmore Girls" alumna is officially joining "Parenthood" after previously was claimed to be in talks for a role left by Maura Tierney. In the new drama series, Graham will once again tackle the role as a single mother of a teenage daughter.
Tierney dropped out of the project earlier this year after finding out that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Delaying its production, NBC put "Mercy" in place of "Parenthood" this Fall to give Tierney time to recuperate from the treatment. However, in early September, NBC released a formal announcement that Tierney was out of the project for good. Shortly after, there were talks with Helen Hunt to fill the vacant position but they didn't come out with positive result.

The flood of reports that Ge is looking to spin off NBC-Universal and give Comcast control of half of the company doesn't exactly come as a shock if you consider the myriad of problems that continue to plague the entertainment division. The movie division has endured a horrible box office run of late (Land of the Lost, Bruno and Funny People all underperformed for the studio this summer) so rumors have been floating for months that Universal Pictures' co-chairmen David Linde and Marc Schmuger would be replaced. And though the ailing TV division did a little housecleaning of its...

"Parenthood" substitute "Mercy" is giving out plenty of clips from the season premiere which is happening on September 23. The compilation of clips starts out with an unexpected situation when Veronica was having breakfast and a car came screeching behind her. In a situation which is critical, the nurse is forced to take immediate medical action with limited instruments.
The rest of the clips show others like the arrival of a new nurse, Chloe who is played by Michelle Trachtenberg. Chloe is a newbie who just graduated from Columbia University on top of her class. What she lacks of is the field experience like having the guts to pull the plug out of a brain dead old man.
Beside chronicling the life of the nurses at Mercy Hospital, the show also takes the focus on Veronica's personal life. She has just returned from a tour in Iraq where she met Dr.

There have been some considerations that Helen Hunt should replace Maura Tierney on "Parenthood". NBC, according to THR, has approached the feature film star to join the series and Hunt is said to be weighing on the offer.
Hunt is supposed to take over Tierney's Sarah, one of the four Braverman siblings that become the center of attention on the series. She is a financially-challenged single mother who returns home to her parents and siblings in Berkeley, Calif. The other siblings are played by Peter Krause, Erika Christensen and Dax Shepard.
Tierney has played Sarah in the pilot before she retracted from the show because she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Last week, NBC released a statement that the actress has quit the show for good. "Maura Tierney regrets that she will not be able to continue her role on 'Parenthood' due to a conflict with the production...

NBC is moving The Listener off of Thursdays at 10p and replacing it with Law and Order encores starting July 30. The Listener posted a 0.7/2 among A18-49 last Thursday on NBC and the network has decided to air the remaining five episodes next month via NBC.com. The drama about a telepathic paramedic is imported from Canada and produced in collaboration by Shaftesbury Films, Canadian broadcaster CTV, NBC and Fox International Channels. The Listener will continue to air on CTV Thursday nights and on the Canadian sci-fi cable channel, Space. NBC also announced it will slot the new hospital drama Mercy on Wednesdays at 8p beginning September 23. Originally, Parenthood was scheduled to air in this time period but has been moved to midseason due to star Maura Tierney's health situation.

Welcome to your Thursday morning television briefing. I'm still recovering from a very late night involving French cuisine, wine and port, a 1 am viewing of last night's episode of Top Chef Masters, and an early rise for the Emmy nominations. Fortunately, just a few headlines to get through this morning.... NBC confirmed that it will end the run of Canadian drama series The Listener on Thursday, July 23rd and replace the series with repeats of Law & Order beginning July 30th. The remaining five unaired episodes of The Listener will be streamed over NBC.com. (Futon Critic) Bravo has announced that it has moved the premiere of Top Chef: Las Vegas forward a week. The season premiere will now air August 19th at 9 pm Et/Pt followed by the season finale of Top Chef Masters. Welcome to your Monday morning television briefing. Following an announcement that actress Maura Tierney would require an eight-week medical evaluation for an undisclosed condition, NBC has pushed the start of its drama Parenthood, which was slated to debut on September 23rd, to midseason. The Peacock will instead push up the launch of its midseason medical drama Mercy to the fall, although it is still unclear whether Mercy will inherit Parenthood's Wednesdays at 8 pm timeslot. The production shutdown on Parenthood, meanwhile, will give writers additional time to complete scripts. (Hollywood Reporter) Update: "In an effort to guard my privacy, it seems that the wording of NBC's press release has unfortunately caused some confusion and undue alarm about my health," said Maura Tierney in an official statement. "I have discovered a tumor in my breast which requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed.

For the second time, the new Parenthood series has been delayed due to unfortunate circumstances. Does this mean good news or bad news for another NBC show?
Based on the 1989 feature film of the same name, the new Parenthood revolves around a multi-generational family and their day-to-day problems. The series stars Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, Craig T. Nelson, James Tupper, Guillermo Diaz, Delroy Lindo, James LeGros, and Diego Klattenhoff.
The drama is actually the second series based on the movie. The first is a light-hearted 1990 dramady that ran for only one season on NBC.
Back in April, NBC executive Nora O'Brien died unexpectedly while visiting the set of the show in Berkeley, California. Production on the show's pilot was shut down for two days as a result.

Now that Parenthood lead star Maura Tierney's breast tumor has pushed Mercy from midseason to fall, Gossip Girl fans are now pondering whether this move will affect Michelle Trachtenberg's appearance in the third season of the CW teen drama. Trachtenberg has been cast as rookie nurse Chloe Payne on the NBC drama Mercy, which was supposed to air in January but has now been set to launch in September. Obviously, the cast and crew of the medical show have been asked to start work much earlier than expected.

Maura Tierney has publicly acknowledged that she has found a tumor in her breast and thus will undergo surgery to remove the disease. The confirmation came hot on the heels of weekend reports, announcing the postponement on the production of her TV series "Parenthood" as she was claimed undergoing medical evaluation for illness that wasn't disclosed.
"In an effort to guard my privacy, it seems that the wording of NBC's press release has unfortunately caused some confusion and undue alarm about my health," Maura said in a statement Monday, July 13. "I have discovered a tumor in my breast which requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable condition."
Maura then added, "I'm very optimistic as to the outcome and want to thank everyone who has sent positive thoughts and support.

Production on NBC's new drama series Parenthood is postponed for eight weeks due to star Maura Tierney's illness. NBC has now slated the premiere of Parenthood for midseason rather than the previously scheduled fall date of September 23. In exchange, NBC pushed up the premiere date of new medical drama Mercy for this fall with production starting early to prepare for a September debut. Regarding Tierney's condition, NBC would not release a definite prognosis. Parenthood is produced by Universal Media Studios and Imagine TV and also stars Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.

NBC is rooting for its star to heal first before coming back to work. "Parenthood", one of the new series that the Peacock offers this Fall, has been shelved for midseason premiere in order to give Maura Tierney time to recuperate from an undisclosed illness.

Ugh. Bad news... According to the Hollywood Reporter, Maura Tierney needs an "eight-week medical evaluation" of some kind. (NBC: "We are unable to release further details and ask that you respect her privacy at this time.") This means that Maura's upcoming NBC drama, Parenthood, produced by Ron Howard and Jason Katims and costarring Peter Krause and Mae Whitman, will be pushed to midseason. Mercy, the Michelle Trachtenberg series about nurses, will premiere in Parenthood's place. But the schedule switching is obviously not the point. Maura Tierney is a visibly awesome woman whom we have loved since NewsRadio and all the way through ER, and whatever she's going through right now...

Chicago – We told you a few weeks ago that “Heroes,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Southland” had been renewed by NBC but the peacock network made it official today and made the call on the bubble shows, renewing “Chuck” and “Law & Order” and pulling the trigger on “Medium” and “My Name is Earl” although there are rumors of both shows being eyed by other networks.
With “The Jay Leno Show” taking up five nights of the week, there were very few spots on the fall schedule, but NBC was more creative than some expected with their programming, refusing to play it safe and knowing that they need a radical shake-up.
Photo credit: Mitchell Haaseth/NBC They’ll get that shake-up as only Tuesday and Sunday will remain unchanged in the fall (except, of course, for Leno). “The Biggest Loser” returns on Tuesday nights for two hours and football dominates Sunday nights.

Earlier today we posted NBC's press release that was — erm, released — as the network presented it's plans for the 2009-2010 television season.
So Trauma (ER from the perspective of paramedics), Parenthood (with Peter Krause and Maura Tierney), Mercy (ER from the perspective of the nurses), and Day One (Jericho meets The Day After) are in.
What that press release didn't tell us—and what we subsequently learned during the question and answer session with NBC head Ben Silverman, is that Life is offically dead.
I'll say it again. Life is over. Unfortunate, because the escapades of Charlie Crews and friends was one of the best shows on television. NBC didn't know what it had there.
As for Chuck, mention of the fun action comedy was also absent from the release. However, we gleaned that a decision on its ultimate fate, as well as the fates of Medium, My Name is Earl,...

In addition to cancelling Life earlier today (not that I'm bitter), NBC revealed the six new series it has picked up for the 2009-2010 season.
