Synopsis: In 1977, paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) come out of a self-imposed sabbatical to travel to Enfield, a borough in north London. There, they meet Peggy Hodgson (Frances O'Connor), an overwhelmed single mother of four who tells the couple that something evil is in her home. Ed and Lorraine believe her story when the youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession. As the Warrens try to help the besieged girl, they become the next target of the malicious spirits.
James Wan is on a roll right now. The Conjuring, Annabelle, Furious 7. That's an impressive resume, but doesn't excuse The Conjuring 2. Expectations are high, and that's a bad scenario. All we can be is disappointed. With that said, let's explore The Conjuring 2.
We pick up with the Warrens shortly after the fame gained from the haunting in the first film. We...

My friend Joe Reid didn't write this Michelle Pfeiffer list for me. Tribeca Film pays him, yknow and The Family is now in theaters so the time is right. But all things Pfeiffer pfeel like they're pfor me anyway so I'll take it. If you have any love for La Pfeiff you'll want to read it. Joe memorably ranks 18 of the great's roles in order of how well the film uses her terrifying beauty. (I quibble with a few rankings here and there -- and where the hell are Ladyhawke and Wolf and Sweet Liberty which all trade memorably on her bewitching glares??? -- but I loved every second of it.)
On The Fabulous Baker Boys, her pantheon-sealing triumph, which ranks 8th:
It's all relative, of course. There's no real "danger" when Susie Diamond is singing "Making Whoopee" atop that piano. But the way she's wielding her considerable sensuality, it...

HollywoodNews.com: Maria Menounos isn’t letting anything stop her from competing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and that includes her two broken ribs.
Menounos is reportedly suffering two broken ribs that resulted from a fall during a rehearsal, but the ‘Extra’ host is fighting through, states UsMagazine.com. “I kept saying, ‘We are not talking about this! We are dancing. I am having the best time of my life and I need to power through,’” Menounos said about not wanting to quit.
However, she is taking care to not make the injury worse: “I’m icing when I get home. My friend Joe drives me from rehearsals and I have a pedicure station with ice in it in my car, so I ice my whole body down.”
What do you think about her continuing on?

I went to the most awesome birthday party this past weekend -- it was literally a blast from the past! My friend Joe turned 40 and celebrated with a "Xanadu" themed "Disco Roller Party"- just the sound of that is pretty fab, right?
It all started with the invites, which included a DVD of the Olivia Newton-John cult classic "Xanadu," to inspire us for costume ideas. I admit- I did not do too well in the costume department. I could not think of anything to wear and just tried to be festive with a sparkly Dvf jacket. I wish ...

I promise this is the last post on Oscar Night 2010. Oh wait. There's 3 more. Damnit! It'll never be over.

Before we get to the best & worst, I would like to give out a shout out to the blacktresses that were working the red carpet on Sunday. Hollywood is even harder on them their white counterparts (so few roles to go around). So unless they're nominated -- like the Precious girls -- they almost never get any media attention. So let's take a brief looksie. I've omitted Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique because you've already seen the "money shot" and Mo'Nique got plenty of air time (but yes, I loved the Hattie McDaniel tribute with the dress color and the gardenia. I wish more people would do themes.)
Stacey Dash wasn't really there. I stole this from one of the parallel Oscar...

2009. It was pretty much as crappy a year for horror movies as it was for the economy. There were, however, some really high points to help balance out all the drivel that was put out there in theatres as well as on home video, and they are to be celebrated, even though technically a couple of them are not even from this year.
Pull up your chair, sit back, and strap yourself in for a look back at the dos, the don'ts, and of course the "Doh!"s of this past year.

District 9 - Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi/action/horror hybrid delivered the kind of hardcore testosterone roller coaster ride we hadn’t seen since the glory days of John McTiernan. With story and special FX superior to that of...
