Important movie about Albania
Sally_Kirkland8 April 2000
Very few films has come out of Albania. This is one of them, and it is basic if you want to understand the Albanian situation during and after a harsh regime.

Colonel Bunker shows us a beautiful but destroyed nation. People do not know what to think or do as a result of the years of communism. It also tells a not unlikely story on how to be trapped between the system and your moral values.

It is a strong movie about the consequences of dictatorship. And it is a key film to understand the situation of this tiny Balkan land.

A moving (and supposedly true) account of a dedicated military officer's attempt to fulfill an insane regime's requirements of him.

A moving (and supposedly true) account of a dedicated military officer's attempt to fulfill an insane regime's requirements of him (the "bunkerization of Albania"). Hoping to be awarded for his loyalty and accomplishments, the Colonel constantly discovers that the rules have changed and ends up suffering the most terrible punishment for his successes.
