Although set in Ireland, the film was actually shot on the Isle of Man.
Miles Keogh was a name of an Irish-born US Army officer that served in the Civil War reaching the rank of Brevet Lieutenant Colonel. He remained in the Regular Army as a Second Lieutenant in 1866. Soon he was promoted to Captain and assigned to the 7th Cavalry as commander of I troop. Keogh is one of several officers that introduced the Irish tune "Garryowen" to George Armstrong Custer, which became the Regimental Song. Keogh died with Custer at the Battle of Little Bighorn.
