Dolly Rawlins is Out!
governor_davo30 July 2001
Dolly Rawlins is out, in the third instalment of Lynda la Plante's widows trilogy "She's Out". Dolly Rawlins is released from prison after serving 8 yrs for the murder of her husband. Dolly is determined to make her dreams come true, Awaiting Dolly on her release are a group of women who all spent time inside with her, they know she stashed millions of diamonds in a raid, and they want a cut.

Also waiting for Dolly is a detective-sergeant of the metropolitan police, he holds her personally responsible for the death of his sister in the raid 10 years earlier, and he wants her back inside. Dolly Rawlins has other plans: to realise the dream that has kept her going for years in prison. But against such determined opposition, the fantasy soon turns into a very different, tragic and violent reality....

'She's Out' is the outstanding finale to Lynda La Plante's widows trilogy, and Ann Mitchell is exellent in the role especially written for her.

Definitely a must-see!!!

where are all of the other reviews (UK)?

I picked this DVD up on a lark, because I'm a tremendous fan of the original 'Prime Suspect' series, though not LaPlante's later 'Killer Net' - 'Net' is an interesting premise, but could have benefited from better research.

Anyway, this was a pretty good feature - well drawn characters and an interesting storyline, even if it takes an abrupt left-turn toward the 2nd episode.

I won't go into the particulars, but if you're a fan of British Crime drama, and 'capers' in general, this miniseries is highly recommended. I was not familiar with Ann Mitchell's work, but she's tremendous here in an ensemble cast that's nothing short of spectacular.

I'm really surprised that this miniseries hasn't shown up on either Masterpiece Theater or BBCAmerica. Here's to hoping! Catch it if you get the opportunity.
