When Tyler Oakley was invited to meet with Larry King, he couldn’t quite believe his luck.
“Just being in the waiting room and seeing all the pictures on the wall — there was the Dali Lama and Oprah!” says the bespectacled online star, 28, who had dinner with the legendary radio host in March. “This is a man who has interviewed presidents and icons. The fact that he had an interest in talking to me was just so surreal.”

From her jaw-dropping Superbowl performance to her head-turning Grammys outfit, Lady Gaga has given us just about a million reasons to give her our undivided attention lately. And this weekend, she’s doing so yet again — but this time, she’s joining Pharrell Williams and Ellen DeGeneres to garner awareness for Revlon’s newest campaign, The Love Project.
“The Love Project is the beginning of a social movement which aims to inspire more love, acceptance and caring in the world,” Carlos Barreto, Revlon Senior Vice President Marketing, said in a statement. “At the heart of this campaign is the belief...

For Old Dominion, their third single - "Song For Another Time" - might just be their most charming, and certainly their most unique, yet. "This song means so much to me and I'm so proud of how it came out," frontman Matt Ramsey tells People of the band's follow-up to their big hits "Break Up with Him" and "Snapback." What makes it so special? The lyrics are actually made up of 20 other song titles - and the song almost didn't make the album. It was written on their tour bus one evening last summer on the Kenny Chesney tour, just...

For Pride Month... A great moment in Oscar gayness
This week's Best Shot spotlight shines on an adorable miniature. Since June is Pride Month we're looking at Great Moments in Cinematic Gayness throughout the month. Great Moments in Oscar Gayness are rarer things and usually come with significant caveats. When they award actors for playing Lgbt characters it's literally only when they are straight and labelled "brave" for playing the character and the character is either dying or victimized in some way. Their ultimate Best Picture rejection of a universally acclaimed frontrunner in Brokeback Mountain (2005) left another stain on the Academy's rainbow colors.
But in Oscar's gay history, there is a beautiful moment that comes without so many uncomfortable footnotes.

Oops. Former NFL player Michael Sam broke one of the Internet's biggest rules when he tweeted a spoiler - which we won't spoil - for Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Friday. Sam's tweet quickly earned all kinds of condemnation before he quickly deleted the tweet. He replaced it with another Friday night: "#oops." #oops— Michael Sam (@MichaelSamNFL) December 18, 2015 Carrie Fisher and Ellen DeGeneres Try To Sell Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tickets! Responses to Sam's message were strong from some fans - but not others. @MichaelSamNFL sooo you're responsible for spoiling the movie for me?... It's ok. You're still a cutie.

If it had somehow escaped your notice – in which case, come on out from under that rock – the Oscars are almost upon us again.
Plenty of this year's nominees aren't exactly what you could call unpredictable. There's Meryl, and Leo, and Jennifer, and no major upsets are expected on the night.
But what about the less usual suspects? Digital Spy takes a look back at eight Oscar-winners you may have forgotten about...
Peter Capaldi
The Twelfth Doctor himself took home a statuette from the Academy in 1995, for writing and directing short film Franz Kafka's It's A Wonderful Life. Not to be confused with Frank Capra's actual It's A Wonderful Life, the absurdist short follows Kafka (played by Richard E Grant) in the throes of writer's block while attempting to write his masterpiece The Metamorphosis, and it tied for Best Live Action Short Film with Peggy Rajski's Trevor.

Pretty Little Liars' Sasha Pieterse is in talks to star in a new Paul Thomas Anderson film called Inherent Vice. If she does, indeed, get cast, she'll be playing a teenage runaway in the 1970s and her co-stars will be Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Josh Brolin, and Martin Short. I hope she gets cast and then she is a teen runaway who ends up meeting The Runaways and makes out with Joan Jett. I should write this movie.

For the pop music superstars and global philanthropists in attendance, 2012's We Are Family Foundation Gala might be best remembered as the annual event that almost wasn't.
The gala, held at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, had to be pushed back to Jan. 31 from its original October date due to Hurricane Sandy. But while the megastorm's devastation was the topic of much conversation at the party, it certainly didn't dampen most of the attendees' spirits -- least of all Adam Lambert, who was honored with the We Are Family Unity Award in recognition of his collaborations with The Trevor Project, Equality California and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) among other organizations.
After accepting his award, the 31-year-old "American Idol" alum -- who became the first openly gay man to top the Billboard charts in 2012 -- hit the stage alongside fellow dance-pop artist Sam Sparro and legendary record producer...

If you work for the Pentagon and/or the Department of Defense, there's a good chance you're not reading this post — or any post on any website about any gay thing, actually. Think Progress is reporting that the Pentagon's specialized filtration software blocks sites flagged at "Lgbt." That includes such sexually explicit content as, oh, The Trevor Project, Pam's House Blend, and The Human Rights Campaign. However, if you want to peruse anti-gay websites like The National Organization for Marriage or RedState or Glenn Beck's own personal blog,...

Tonight kicked off The X Factor’s final week of auditions, in which the judges’ panel headed east to Providence, Road Island in their quest for talent.
Starting off the night was a pair of men by the names of Adonis and John, also known to only themselves as “Original Greeks.” This seemingly confident duo declared that they would be singing Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello,” which seemed like a unique choice. Unfortunately, Adonis lacked the singing skills to back up John’s random “yeah” that was thrown in here and there in an attempt to put a rap spin on the song. With a lot of laughter and even a few “yeahs” of their own, the judges gave four solid no’s to the pair.

Oscar winner James Lecesne is to step in for Michael McKean on Broadway as the Spinal Tap star recovers from a car accident in hospital.
McKean has been forced to pull out of the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Gore Vidal's The Best Man indefinitely after breaking his leg in the New York street accident on Tuesday.
Lecesne, who wrote Oscar-winning short film Trevor, will replace him onstage as Dick Jensen.
The actor previously portrayed a Washington Post reporter in the play, alongside injured McKean, in his Broadway debut.
Producer Jeffrey Richards tells BroadwayWorld.com, "I have worked with Michael on three previous productions... and he has never missed a performance, and I understand from his team that he has never missed a performance in his career. So this is the kind of first we are reluctant to announce.
"He is currently in stable condition, he has a broken leg."
Richards suggests McKean will not return to the show, adding, "I look forward to working with Michael again on a future project."...

Last week's controversial winter finale episode of "Glee" may have shocked fans, but one lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (Lgbt) youth advocacy group has seen a number of benefits as a result.
As Entertainment Weeklyis reporting, The Trevor Project saw their web traffic spike and their phone calls triple after the episode, which depicted former bully Dave Karofsky (played by Max Adler) attempting suicide -- to the tune of Young the Giant's "Cough Syrup" -- after being outed as gay to his classmates.
"What was great about the show is that they worked in conjunction with us so we knew in advance that there was going to in all likelihood be an increase in volume," Trevor Project co-founder Peggy Rajski tells EW. “What happened was the volume went up about 300 percent, but we were ready."

Glee’s winter finale featured a story line surrounding former bully Karofsky (Max Adler), who attempted suicide after finding himself the target of gay bullying. The episode included a PSA for the Trevor Project, a national organization that helps prevent Lgbt suicide that counts Daniel Radcliffe and Glee’s own Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, and Adler among its supporters. The episode of the Fox hit led to a record number of traffic for the organization’s website and phone number. “What was great about the show is that they worked in conjunction with us so we knew in...

Daniel Radcliffe has made a $5,000 (£3,125) charity bet on the outcome of Sunday's Super Bowl.
The Harry Potter star is a huge New York Giants fan and he's so convinced his team will beat the New England Patriots he has challenged U.S. TV host Ellen DeGeneres to a wager.
Taping a pre-Super Bowl chat on her show on Thursday, the young Brit challenges the host to the big bet, suggesting the loser should hand over the cash to the Trevor Project - a gay rights charity they both support.
He said, "I have a proposition for you... We obviously both support the Trevor project. I was wondering if you would like to place a bet on behalf of the Trevor Project. You can name the sum. I’m obviously… backing the Giants... The Giants are going to win."
When DeGeneres suggested the bet should be $5,000 (£3,125), game Radcliffe added, "If the Patriots win I give the money. If the Giants win you give the money."...

He then thought for a minute and said “How much would I have to pay him?”

KidsPickFlicks at Variety's Power of Youth
I was fortunate enough to be invited to cover the red carpet for Variety for their annual Power of Youth event, a block party where Young Hollywood comes out to demonstrate their strength in the world of philanthropy. It may be surprising to learn that almost all of the celebrity kids have at least one cause they support, many have several. Moreover, some kid stars are very hands on with their involvement. Most fascinating is that often young actors and singers are guided toward charity work by an influential co-worker or associate.
Hailee Steinfeld said her True Grit co-star Jeff Bridges told her about Share Our Strength. She was deeply moved by Bridges' personal involvement and committment, particularly to their No Kid Hungry campaign, and she jumped on board as well.

'Harry Potter' star calls the award, which he will accept June 27 at NYC's Trevor Live gala, a 'great honor.'
By Kara Warner

Here at MTV News, we've always been big Daniel Radcliffe fans, starting with the "Harry Potter" role that launched his superstardom and continuing with the successful acting career that has followed. However, recently, it is Radcliffe's more charitable efforts that have been drawing our warm regards.
Since 2009, the 21-year-old has been involved with nonprofit organization the Trevor Project, a suicide-prevention/ support group geared toward gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning teens. In recognition of Radcliffe's awareness-raising efforts, he will soon take a break from his "Potter" promoting and Broadway duties to be presented with the organization's Hero Award at the Trevor Live gala at Capitale in New York City on June 27.

I’m back! And coming to you from the shiny new AfterElton.com satellite office in Sophia, Wv. Yeah, everyone else thinks it’s weird I’m here, too. Did you miss me? I missed you. Well, some of you. I’ve got a mix of new news and things I think we should have talked about last week, so let’s get to it.
Peter Jackson has decided to release his Hobbit films in December of 2012 and 2013. He’s also decided to title the first The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and the second The Hobbit: There and Back Again. He’s yet to name the giant vault he must be building to put in all the money that he’s going to make.
While we were all spending time with friends and family in the U.S., honoring those who served and gave their lives, not everything went well.

Daniel Radcliffe will be honored by The Trevor Project, an anti-suicide/support group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gender teenagers, with their Hero Award at a ceremony in New York in June to recognize his work with the organization.
Daniel, who started working with the group two years ago, said, "It's fantastic. The fact that they think of what I've done by promoting awareness of the Trevor Project itself and the issues that it works to promote and help is a great honor. I think that out of everything that I've done so far in my career, I think this is absolutely one of the most important, if not the most important, thing that I'm associated with."
The "Harry Potter" star, who previously appeared in a public service announcement (PSA) for the Trevor Project's 24-hour help line, also paid tribute to the 160 volunteers and counselors at the facility. He said,...

For his tireless efforts and support of the Trevor Project — an anti-suicide/support group geared toward gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning teens; "Harry Potter" actor Daniel Radcliffe will be honored with the Hero Award.
According to The Associated Press, the award, which will be given at a ceremony in New York City this June, "recognizes a person who serves as an inspiration to sexual minority youths." Adam Lambert made another return to American Idol last night.
The Grammy nominated singer came second on the 2009 season of the TV talent show and though he didn’t win at that time, the success that followed is higher than many champions of the format have enjoyed.
Just before the 2011 top 13 became 12, Lambert took to the stage and gave a smooth and moving rendition of his newest single Aftermath. The song was then released via his official website last night and all proceeds will go to The Trevor Project – an organisation hoping to end suicide among Lgbtq youth.
As Adam himself admitted ‘Sometimes the message is more important than the song itself,’ and his rendition was a stipped back and emotionally pure one. It was very un-Glam and showed how versatile Lambert really is. It was poignant and simple, yet still musically fabulous. The performance proved that the Glam Nation...

In case you had any worries, Ryan Seacrest’s sadistic streak is not only alive and well, but “wonderfully” reinvigorated after a 10-month hibernation period. On Thursday night’s American Idol Top 13 results show telecast, our host played Road Runner to MySpace Contestant Karen Rodriguez’s Wile E. Coyote, lulling her into a false sense of security just to dangle her back out over the precipice of possible elimination. “You are all safe!” he gleefully announced to Karen and fellow contestants Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone at the midway point of the show, before taking a deep breath and adding...

There wasn't much drama on Thursday night's (March 10) "American Idol" elimination show. A number of this year's top 13 stumbled on Wednesday night, and for once, host Ryan Seacrest didn't torture the contestants by making them wait until the show's final moments to find out the bottom three.
In the end, it was curtains for wild card Ashthon Jones, who stumbled on Wednesday night with a limp cover of Diana Ross' "When You Tell Me That You Love Me."
Earlier in the night, after slogging through the Ford video and a trip to the "Red Riding Hood" premiere, Seacrest finally got to the business of building that bottom three, calling out Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Karen Rodriguez to center stage. He pulled a bit of rope-a-dope by telling all three they were safe,...

DoSomething.org announces its 2010 'Celebs Gone Good' roundup.
By Terri Schwartz
Lady Gaga
Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage
MTV News already recognized Lady Gaga as being the most important Woman of the Year (and our most fashionable), but we weren't the only ones taking notice: DoSomething.org listed their top 20 most charitable celebrities of 2010, and unsurprisingly, Gaga took the #1 spot.
DoSomething helps young people develop causes they care about, and the organization said Gaga represented that spirit this year more than any other artist. From calling for an end to the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy (which was recently repealed) to hosting a "Hands Up for Marriage Equality" event, Gaga focused on helping others.
Fellow pop star Alicia Keys was #2 on the "Celebs Gone Good" list. As the founder of Keep a Child Alive, Keys worked harder than ever to provide AIDS treatment worldwide and raised $1.1 million with her Digital Death Campaign,...

When I saw the first trailer for The Dilemma, opening with Vince Vaughn proclaiming “electric cars are gay,” I remember thinking first, “Ugh, not another lame gay joke,” thinking second, “Ugh, not another lame boneheaded dudes comedy,” and thinking third, “Whoa, Ron Howard directed this?” And then I didn’t think about it at all — the trailer and the movie left my brain immediately. Tuesday night, hours before our start of Spirit Day, 19-year-old Corey Jackson hung himself. There’s no direct evidence of bullying of the gay Oakland University student, but let’s face it, we get bullied everyday just for being gay.
As evidence of that statement, I offer Maggie Gallagher’s editorial for the New York Post. She cites out of context “evidence” that marriage equality wouldn’t reduce the suicides, using Massachusetts as a sample. It hardly counts when that marriage isn’t valid when you cross the state line, Maggie. Or when newspapers think that there are two sides to this story that need to be aired. There is no opposing viewpoint to dead children.
It’s so bad that Facebook has teamed up with MTV, GLAAD, The Trevor Project, GLSEn and Pflag to create a “Network of Support.”

Kyle Dean Massey in Next to Normal (Photo credit Joan Marcus)
Kyle Dean Massey, one of Broadway’s brightest young stars, is illuminating and electrifying in Next to Normal, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about a bipolar mom and her family. The out and proud, 5-foot-10 hunk plays Gabe, the dashing and dynamic 18-year-old son, and Massey reaches new heights whether he’s racing up the show’s three-level jungle gym of a set, or hitting a high B when he belts Gabe’s big solo, “I’m Alive.”
So far, he has racked up about 500 performances and won Broadway.com’s award for Favorite Male Replacement.
Tom Kitt, the show’s Tony-winning composer, raves, “It would be challenging for anyone to take over a role from Aaron Tveit [who’s gone on to do TV’s Gossip Girl and the film Howl], but Kyle Dean’s made the role his own. He’s a beautiful actor with an exquisite voice and he’s incredibly moving.

Does having a celebrity speak out against bullying actually reduce bullying? NBC’s Outlaw has put filming new episodes on hold. Friday night is tough, and if it can’t improve on those ratings, it’s probably done for. The bright side? For all the already canceled and nearly canceled shows this fall, we still haven’t lost a gay character!
One small grace coming out of the epidemic of suicides: Exodus has decided it might be too much to hold their Day of Truth, the opposition to Day of Silence. Could the ex-gay folks have finally found their hearts? Or are they worried how that would look?
Showtime has renewed The Real L Word for another year. I’ve never watched it, so I don’t know if this is good news or not.
I can’t really make up my mind about this article. The text itself isn’t bad, but the title, Homophobia Hurts Straight Men Too seems just a little indulgent.

As the number of gay teen suicides caused by bullying increases, the middle member of the Jonas Brothers followed the footsteps of his ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato and several other celebrities, including Daniel Radcliffe, Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen DeGeneres, in speaking up against the harassment.
In a PSA he taped recently, the 21-year-old expressed his disgust by saying, "The fact that people resort to bullying is horrible." He then urged others to find way to stop it. Stars lilke Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson and Eva Mendes may be rich, famous and seemingly fearless today but, like Tyler Clementi, these folks were teased and tormented when they were younger, too. "This just in: Equality won!" Ellen DeGeneres jubilantly posted on Twitter as word spread throughout Hollywood on Wednesday that a federal judge had overturned Proposition 8, California's gay marriage ban.
"And justice is served. We are equal once more. God bless the letter of the law," director-producer Adam Shankman chimed in a few moments later with a tweet of his own.
But screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, one of a handful of Hollywood heavyweights who helped fund the case by forming the American Foundation for Equal Rights, also warned that the battle for gay and lesbian rights is far from over because the potentially landmark case is being appealed by Protect Marriage -- a coalition of religious and conservative groups that sponsored the ban -- to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and from there could go to the Supreme Court.

Plus Weird Al targets Lady Gaga, James Franco's art, and Dame Helen Mirren kicks butt.
Last night, Jimmy Kimmel had a Twilight special, and it was hilarious to watch. It probably wasn’t supposed to be, but it was. My favorite line came from Robert Pattinson though: "It wouldn't be PG-13 if the CGI wolves had genitalia. They're like the action figures."
Weird Al Yankovic says he has his eyes on the Billboard charts for his next big parody, and obviously Lady Gaga is a ripe target.

Emmy Rossum says despite the description of Shameless, it’s really a fun, laugh-filled show. And she’s already gotten naked for the Showtime series, something she got to share...

As far as entrances go, it ranks up there with Barbra Streisand's as Fanny Brice purring "Hello, Gorgeous!" Hit Girl, the 12-year-old masked vigilante in a purple Clara Bow wig and leather jumpsuit crashes into the villain's hideout, strikes a menacing pose, and utters the line, "Okay, you guys…let's see what you can do now."Only she doesn't say "guys"—she uses one of the most offensive words in the English language, before proceeding to unleash bloody vengeance upon the bad guys. This is how "Kick-Ass," the new action-comedy about ordinary people striving to be superheroes, introduces Hit Girl, played by Chloë Grace Moretz. Up to this point, the film's audience has only seen her as her alter ego, hyper-intelligent but sweet Mindy Macready, and has no idea of just what she is capable.Hollywood, however, seems to be well aware of just how much the 13-year-old Moretz can handle.

In 2009, the number of leading lesbian characters on primetime broadcast TV doubled — from one to two.
Out of the estimated 600 lead and supporting characters on network TV, seven of them of are lesbian or bisexual. And of those seven, five of them kissed women last year. And of those five, three of them made out during Sweeps.
Things looked bleak at the beginning of the year, but with the growing trend of lesbian brides getting gunned down or cheating on their wedding days, and the continued trend of bisexual characters only expressing their same-sex attraction during Sweeps, and the loss of Showtime's lesbian drama The L Word, we're ending the year on a downward spiral in terms of lesbian visibility.
