Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Thursday’s two-hour premiere of Grey’s Anatomy.
Grey’s Anatomy is back!
The hit medical drama returned with a supersized two-hour season 14 premiere on Thursday, which had everything from family reunions, returning faces and a shocking health revelation for one of our favorite Grey Sloan Memorial doctors.
Grey’s picked back up right where things left off in the finale. A day or so after the fire that ruined parts of the hospital (and the catalyst for Stephanie to leave), Meredith and company attempt to get back to work -- with Owen’s sister, Megan (Abigail Spencer), and closing up her open battle wound their primary objective (which they’re successful doing). Megan’s Seattle arrival also prompts the return of a former colleague, Teddy (Kim Raver), causing a already-present rift between Owen and his wife, Amelia.

Gregg Sulkin has bounced back from Bella Thorne with lightening speed. Photogs got Gregg at Monday Bourgeois Pig in Hollywood with Instagram model Sahara Ray. They hung out for an hour, downed a little java and made of point of showing they've hooked up. The actor had been dating Bella for about a year and broke up shortly before she jetted off to Cannes with Scott Disick, bailed on him and then hooked up with...

The Germans and the Mexicans have always had a love affair. (Think Beer and Polka) But when Ficg decided to honor Beki Probst a couple of years ago (or was it last year) who knew what the relationship would grow into.
At the Berlinale this year, Mexico was the first-ever country to be honored by the Festival. The Wall — the Berlin Wall and the Proposed Wall to further divide the two North American Nations of USA and Mexico — further unites them. After all, Berlin was alway Berlin and USA’s Southwest has always been Mexico. That’s why there are so many Mexicans there.
Now the Maguey Prize, the centerpiece of Ficg, is going to German film veteran Jürgen Brüning.
Congratulations Jurgen! Our own association goes back to those early days in the 90s when we were all getting to know each other. Here are IMDb’s listed credits of those years!

If Jill Soloway’s declaration of “topple the patriarchy” at the 2016 Emmy Awards represented the mainstreaming of radical feminism, here’s the film to make it scary again. “The Misandrists” is the latest film from Canadian provocateur Bruce Labruce, a low-budget, high-fantasy tale of radical lesbian separatists living a cult-like existence. It’s a wild romp with all the campy noir you might expect in a film by the father of queercore.
For the uninitiated, Labruce is a queer filmmaker, actor, critic, and self-described reluctant pornographer. He came up as filmmakers like Gregg Araki, Todd Haynes, and Cheryl Dunye established the New Queer Cinema, but Labruce embraced a strictly anti-establishment queer aesthetic aligned with the underground punk scene. His aesthetic weds sexually explicit images, stilted B-movie acting, and cult film tropes like zombies and vampires, along with more traditional narrative filmmaking techniques. Kurt Cobain famously called Labruce’s 1991 debut, “No Skin Off My Ass,...

Oscar Isaac has delivered another superb performance in Alex Garland's "Ex Machina." It follows a National Board of Review-winning turn in "A Most Violent Year" which, frankly, should have earned him an Academy Award nomination this past January. Of course, you could also say he should have received more recognition for his work in "Inside Llewyn Davis" and "Drive," but Isaac's time will come. Potentially with whatever projects he chooses after shooting "X-Men: Apocalypse" this summer. But, before we get to Isaac's blueprint or building his character in "Machina" let's get to the subject you probably really want him to hear about, "Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens." Frankly, the mantra for anyone working on any J.J. Abrams directed movie is that you keep your lips sealed and don't reveal anything to the press. And that means almost everything is under wraps unless you're playing Han Solo, Princess...

3Rd Update, Monday, 3:15 Pm: The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies dropped some gold coins on its way to the bank today to deposit its actual results. The finale of Peter Jackson’s epic trilogy was off 1.7% from its Sunday five-day estimate of $90.6M, for a current reported cume of $89.1M. That figure still beats the first five days of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug ($86.1M).
The Warner Bros./New Line/MGM film wasn’t the only one off from its Sunday: Sony’s Annie came in about $440K under today with $15.86M in third, while Fox’s Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb was down $200K.
Essentially, yesterday wound up not being as robust as expected for distribs with it being the last Sunday before Christmas. Warner Bros. projected $18.2M yesterday for Five Armies, but filed $16.73M, while Sony estimated $4.9M but came in closer to $4.5M.

Waylon Bacon says:
I’ve had three cats now, and each one was an accident. My first cat, Max, was given to me to hold onto until a friend got back from New Orleans. I’d just had my wisdom teeth yanked out, and bonded with him while doped up on Vicodin. Upon returning, my friend didn’t want the cat anymore, and I ended up with Max as a non-contributing roommate for the next four years. I now find myself with another two which came with my girlfriend. One of them is insane (she reminds me of Catherine Deneuve in Repulsion), but the other, Lou Rawls, is very chill, and often sits in my lap while I work on storyboards.
I am currently putting together my first Indiegogo campaign for a short film that has nothing to do with my cat, who currently would like his litter box cleaned.

Every year, we here at Sound On Sight celebrate the month of October with 31 Days of Horror; and every year, I update the list of my favourite horror films ever made. Last year, I released a list that included 150 picks. This year, I’ll be upgrading the list, making minor alterations, changing the rankings, adding new entries, and possibly removing a few titles. I’ve also decided to publish each post backwards this time for one reason: the new additions appear lower on my list, whereas my top 50 haven’t changed much, except for maybe in ranking. I am including documentaries, short films and mini series, only as special mentions – along with a few features that can qualify as horror, but barely do.

With each film, Canadian-born, queer auteur, Bruce La Bruce (No Skin Off My Ass, Hustler White, The Raspberry Reich) improves his filmmaking excellence. The filmmaker has spent decades making fierce, hilarious and generally haphazard indie films with a sharp political edge. Now the iconic provocateur returns with this subversively tender tale Gerontophilia; about the intimate bond between a teenage nursing home attendant and an elderly resident. Tiff describes it as, Labruce taking satiric aim at both the desire for mainstream, and even conventional films within the queer community and the youth-obsessed nature of gay (and straight) culture. Watch the first clip below.

Take a nightmare ride on the Los Angeles subway in the dark and creepy music video directed by Waylon Bacon for The Lumerians’ atmospheric tune “Life Without Skin.”
A single gal riding the rails late at night — that’s never a good idea! — is pursued by ghoulish, inhuman monsters on the train. Then, after getting deposited in a desolate area of downtown, her journey continues into even darker territory until she is virtually consumed by malevolent forces.
Bacon, known for his twisted, grotesque comedy short films such as Help Wanted and Poster Boy, goes for a full-blown horror vibe here with spectacular results. His style also proves to be a perfect match for The Lumerians’ haunting melody, creating a unique piece that works just fine as both an original short film and a music video.

Here’s a politically incorrect statement which roughly half of you will agree with and half will take issue: I’m tired of hearing about gay marriage. But before you go racing to the comments section to call me a homophobe, please note that I support the right for anyone to get married. No skin off my back…if you’re happy, be happy. Marry the one you love regardless of gender. And more Americans and politicians appear to be agreeing with that sentiment.

Review Kaci Ferrell 12 Mar 2013 - 07:31
Being Human (USA) is still knocking it out of the supernatural park. Here's Kaci's review of the latest episode...
This review contains spoilers.
3.9 Of Mice and Wolfmen
Considering how bad the situation was at the end of the last episode, this week's Being Human is oddly...well, cheerful. Barring the final scene, I don't think there's ever been a more optimistic episode of this series. I smiled through most of it, which is not at all my usual reaction to the shenanigans these characters find themselves in.
First, we have Aidan, who takes us on another trip to the Bad Accents and Wigs Department. I feel like there's some kind of unspoken rule in American vampire television that all vampire fiction must include bad wigs and accents. Don't believe me? Look at Eric and Bill on True Blood (mostly Bill) or Spike and Angel on Buffy (mostly Angel). Strangely,...

With the release of Jonathan Levine’s Warm Bodies, I decided to compile a list of my favourite films that take a non-traditional approach to the living-dead canon. More specifically, they all blend romance and zombies, in their own unique and twisted ways.
This is the first of what will be a two part article.

Dance of The Dead may seem like another lowbrow, low budget horror film, but in fact, it offers sharp writing, terrific characterizations, likeable performances, and a real affection for geek culture. Imagine the humour of Night of the Living Dorks but powered by the central plot behind Night of the Creeps. Sure Dance uses every rule from the official zombie handbook, but for a movie that seems equally inspired by a John Hughes coming of age flick, Dance of the Dead...
