While the movie is called 'The Green Hornet', the hero played by Chin Kar-lok dresses as Kato, and the film references the idea of 'Kato' being a legendary Chinese hero has fought the forces of evil in China for many centuries.
At one point Chin Kar-lok's character is warned of the dangers of revealing his secret identity, with lam Ching-ying's character reminding him of what happened to the 1960's Kato (Bruce Lee) after he revealed his identity.
The movie was shot in Shanghai, and for many of the group scenes involving various western mercenaries, many of the background ones, are Chinese stunt men and extras wearing wigs of varying qualities.
