No performer likes to receive a thumbs-down for their work, but imagine how it feels when this is a reality for a lengthy period of time. For some actors, they embarked on terrible Rotten Tomatoes streaks that weren't kind to their careers. Now, bear in mind that Rotten Tomatoes isn't the be-all and end-all of a film's quality, but it's a tool used by many to see what's the overall consensus from the critics. In addition to this, while the aggregator didn't exist before the '90s, it still collects the big reviews from bygone eras to showcase what the critical thoughts were of major productions.
So, for this feature, it's time to head back in time to look at the major actors who received rotten ratings for a notable stretch of their careers. To make life easier here, though, films that haven't officially received the "rotten" or "fresh" label...

How much did Quentin Tarantino earn after ‘10 movie’ idea? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Quentin Tarantino’s movies are like blood-soaked love letters to pop culture, grindhouse cinema, and vintage feet shots. Since the ‘90s, he’s given us iconic films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, each dripping in style, violence, and unapologetic weirdness.
But beyond all the cult worship and memeable moments, there’s cold, hard cash. Tarantino’s movies don’t just win awards, they rake in millions. Now, with his infamous “10 movies and I’m out” retirement plan looming like a final chapter, fans are doing the math: how much has the man actually earned from his iconic (and often insane) filmography? Spoiler alert, it’s a lot more than just royalties and Red Apple cigarette profits. Let’s break it down.

Update, 1:55 Pm Pt: The second day of Harvey Weinstein’s rape retrial in New York came to a close with defense lawyers seeking a mistrial.
As dramatic as it sounds, the effort was cut short by Judge Curtis Farber within minutes.
With the jury excused for the day, defense lawyers Arthur Aidala, Diana Fabi Samson and Jennifer Bonhean took turns moving for a mistrial, saying the testimony of Christine Pressman, a former friend of Harvey Weinstein accuser Miriam Haley, was prejudicial. Specficially the defense team claimed the testimony should not have been allowed, especially when Pressman spontaneously said that Haley would “never ever ever” have had consensual sex with Weinstein.
Pressman was “not entitled to speculate about things she has no knowledge about,” Bonjean said.
From the start, Judge Farber sounded skeptical of the mistrial motion, telling the defense lawyers they opened the door to Pressman’s testimony with their own questioning.

Paramount Pictures has released another amazing new behind-the-scenes featurette from Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, this time shifting the spotlight away from the stunts and onto one of the franchise's most breathtaking shooting locations: Svalbard, Norway!
If you're wondering what brings our heroes to the Arctic, well, it's probably safe to say it'll have something to do with the missing Sevastopol, which sank at the beginning of the previous film.
Dead Reckoning spoilers ahead, but, as we all know now, the completed key that Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) managed to swipe at the end of that film opens a chamber in the Sevastopol that contains the Entity's source code, allowing it to be destroyed or controlled.
The sub's location has remained a mystery until now, but, it looks like, in the two months between adventures, Hunt and company will have cracked its hidding spot in the Arctic Ocean.

I’ve seen a lot of films that come and go over the years, but every once in a while, one comes along that shakes up things in the best way. Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction was one of those movies. As Clint Eastwood put it, it came at a time that needed a little excitement, something fresh and bold.
And the film delivered, as it didn’t just entertain, it challenged the way Hollywood thought about storytelling, which I believe deserved the Best Picture Oscar at the 67th Academy Awards. Nothing against Forrest Gump, but Tarantino’s film was electric, raw, stylish, and completely original, something that Eastwood also recognized and acknowledged.

It's no secret that nostalgia paints everything in rosy colors, making it harder to recognize when something we once loved no longer holds up. This happens frequently in the world of film, where childhood emotions blind us to the flaws of a genuinely crappy picture. We don't want to admit that something that once stirred us to our core has lost its luster -- and honestly, there's no shame in that. We've all been there.
Still, part of growing up is accepting some hard truths. Steven Spielberg's "Hook" isn't all that great. Michael Bay probably never had it. "Pulp Fiction" and "The Shawshank Redemption" are leagues better than "Forrest Gump." And "Back to the Future Part II and III" never should have happened. There -- don't you feel a little better?
No? Well, buckle up. Here's an even tougher exercise: a list of 10 hit horror movies that aren't as good as you remember.

Alan Ruck, fresh off HBO’s “Succession,” has been cast in the upcoming horror-thriller “Corporate Retreat.” He joins an ensemble that also includes Rosanna Arquette (“Pulp Fiction”) and Ashton Sanders (“Moonlight”).
Ruck portrayed Connor Roy on the Emmy-winning “Succession,” for which the show’s cast twice won the SAG Award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. To say that few filmmakers love movies as much as Quentin Tarantino is a staggering understatement. Few people love movies as much as Quentin Tarantino, and the cinephile’s tastes continue to shape Hollywood. Today he turns 61, and so of course we had to share an updated list of Tarantino’s favorite movies that brings the total to 61.
The video store clerk-turned-director has spent decades dazzling interviewers and fans with his unparalleled knowledge of cinema history, with tastes that range from universally acclaimed classics to more obscure and even lowbrow fare. While his love of spaghetti Westerns and exploitation flicks has always been well-documented, Tarantino isn’t afraid to publicly embrace the modern or mainstream. He proudly championed “Top Gun: Maverick” in the summer of 2022, as did so many others. Not to mention, he’s a fan of rom-coms, particularly on long flights. (He once dubbed Kate Hudson “the queen...

Cate Blanchett announced earlier this week that she is considering stepping away from acting. In a recent interview with Radio Times, the two-time Oscar winner revealed, “My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting. [There are] a lot of things I want to do with my life.”
While Blanchett has remained busy with high-profile projects — including Disclaimer for Apple TV+ and Jim Jarmusch’s upcoming film Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, c0starring Adam Driver — she sounded sincere about stepping away from the business. Fame, she admits, has never felt entirely natural.
“When you go on a talk show, or even here now, and then you see sound bites of things you’ve said, pulled out and italicized, they sound really loud. I’m not that person,” she explained. “I make more sense in motion – it’s been a long...

How Did Samuel L Jackson Land His Breakout Role? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Samuel L Jackson’s shocking rehab confession really changed everything because just two weeks after getting clean, he landed Jungle Fever. And not just any role. He played Gator, a crack addict whose life spiraled out of control. For Jackson, it wasn’t a stretch. He had lived it.
Jackson’s journey to that breakout moment was rough. Way before the fame and the Cannes award, the actor battled a serious drug problem that started early. By his mid-teens, he had tried acid. That escalated to weed, then heroin, cocaine, and eventually crack. His personal rock bottom came in the most sobering way, literally.
One morning, his wife, Latanya Richardson, and their 8-year-old daughter, Zoe, walked in and found him passed out on the floor, surrounded by drug paraphernalia. That moment forced everything into motion. Richardson told him...

Did Quentin Tarantino Make John Travolta Play A Board Game Before Offering Pulp Fiction? (Photo Credit – Prime Video/Instagram)
Before Vincent Vega slicked back his hair and danced his way into movie history, John Travolta literally had to roll the dice. Quentin Tarantino, the mastermind behind Pulp Fiction, had an oddly specific way of casting his Vega. And it all started with a throwback game night.
At a Supanova Comic Con event in Adelaide, Travolta remembered the night Tarantino invited him not to talk scripts or rehearse lines but to play board games based on Travolta’s old hits. “All he wanted to do was spend the evening playing board games of my old movies,” Travolta recalled (in an interview with Nz Herald). “For instance, we played the Grease board game, we played the Saturday Night Fever board game, we played the Welcome Back, Kotter board game.”

Who is the moat badass actor according to Quentin Tarantino? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Quentin Tarantino, the guy known for turning everyday actors into pop-culture icons went old-school with his pick, and the answer was peak Tarantino.
During a candid sit-down on the El Rey Network, Tarantino answered a question from fellow filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. The Oscar-winning Pulp Fiction mastermind had plenty of choices, but his response was instant:
“There’s a lot of guys you can say, but I have to say right now, I’m, in particular, the last few years, I’ve been on a real Lee Van Cleef kick,” he said. “I mean, I really wish I could have worked with Lee Van Cleef in that ’69, ’70 time period. What Did Kathy Griffin Say About Her Cameo On Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Kathy Griffin had only three lines in Pulp Fiction, but it was enough to land her a place in Quentin Tarantino’s hall of quirky cameos. And, it turns out, she scored that blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role thanks to a short-lived romance with the Pulp Fiction mastermind himself.
In the classic 1994 cult film, Griffin appeared briefly in the scene where Marsellus Wallace (played by Ving Rhames) got hit by a car. As he stumbled to his feet, dazed and bleeding, Griffin’s character rushed to help. “If you need someone to go to court, I would be glad to help,” she rattled off (via Cheat Sheet). “That guy was a drunken maniac. He hit you, then he crashed into that car.” And with that, she vanished from the screen, but not from fans’ memories.

Samuel L Jackson Box Office ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Samuel L. Jackson knew how to guarantee box office numbers, even if it meant personally fronting the first thousand bucks. During a hilarious appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Jackson cracked the secret: “I know when I have a movie that’s opening, I know it’s going to make at least $1,000 that weekend because I buy $1,000 worth of tickets. I give them to the church, or I give them to somebody, and their kids go.” That’s not just confidence. That’s commitment.
The moment had the audience in stitches, but he wasn’t joking. Jackson backed his films, literally. And while $1,000 wouldn’t dent today’s box office reports, the gesture summed up Jackson’s larger-than-life energy. Whether it was Pulp Fiction or Snakes on a Plane, he showed up for his work.

Days ago, as everyone shared their respective April Fools' Day jokes, there was a rumor going around the internet that most laughed at as the most absurd joke of all. Nevertheless, hours passed, and the unbelievable idea turned out to be true: Quentin Tarantino's impressive Hollywood tribute is getting a Netflix sequel. The news broke, and fans of the irreverent director of Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds were shocked because Tarantino is not set to be involved as director but merely as writer. The project, still untitled, is shrouded in mystery, but Sean Fennessey and Amanda Dobbins, hosts of "The Big Picture" podcast, have revealed a few bits of information about the Once Upon A Time...in Hollywood sequel. Things just got… weirder.

During last night's Final Four games on CBS, Paramount Pictures announced that the brand new theatrical trailer for Tom Cruise's highly anticipated Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning - which originally debuted at CinemaCon last week - will be released online Monday!
Whether it'll drop during the National Championship Game or earlier in the day remains to be seen, but we'd wager on the latter since that's generally when the studio tends to launch new footage. We'd then expect a TV spot to debut during the game, directing fans online to check out the full-length trailer.
Plot details remain under wraps, but we learned at CinemaCon that the film will pick up two months after the events of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) still seemingly on the run and presumably on the hunt for the sunken Sevastopol.

I cannot emphasize this enough: Making a movie isn’t easy. Especially when it’s your first feature. Many first-time filmmakers get more wrong than right. However, just getting a motion picture shot and distributed is a major victory in and of itself. With that in mind, the idea that Quentin Tarantino’s debut feature was lauded by critics and viewers alike is a true testament to his uncompromising talent.
Tarantino effectively made something out of nothing with Reservoir Dogs. He completed the flick for an estimated budget of just over $1 million. And he did that at a time when films were still exclusively shot on celluloid. It’s inspiring that the former video store clerk found a way to channel his passion for cinema into a thrilling, artistically rendered effort that we’re still talking about more than 30 years later.

If Quentin Tarantino is a cinema god, the historic Vista Theater is his church. On Tuesday night, his disciples flocked to the hallowed aisles of the Los Feliz venue (which he owns) for the first-ever live taping of his podcast with Roger Avary and Gala Avary, “The Video Archives.”
The podcast, named for the iconic movie rental store of the same name where both Tarantino and Roger Avary once worked, sees the trio revisit some of their favorite old B-movies and discover new ones.
The live event, held exclusively for Patreon members, hosted about 400 cinephiles (dozens of whom were naturally clad in “Pulp Fiction” shirts) for a surprise screening curated by the the “Video Archives” team, followed by an off-the-cuff edition of the popular podcast.
Before the screening began, Tarantino cued up a selection of four wild 35mm trailers for films previously discussed on the podcast: “The Illustrated Man,” “Straw Dogs,...

Murray recently appeared with his The Friend co-star Naomi Watts on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen, which is where he shared the two fond memories of Willis. "Moonrise Kingdom was a really beautiful, lovely film. I got work with and have a wonderful time with Bruce Willis," recalled Murray (via Variety). "He just had a birthday. The ten-year anniversary celebrations for director Christopher Nolan's epic science-fiction film Interstellar are showing no signs of abating. Not too long after the movie was re-released in theaters worldwide, it entered a rather exclusive list on the platform Letterboxd, where users can log, review, and rate films. Interstellar is now among only three titles on the platform with over five million views. Released in 2014, the film featured Matthew McConaughey as a NASA astronaut who goes on a mission to find a habitable new planet for a severely endangered humankind.
On Monday, Letterboxd announced that Interstellar had become the latest film to achieve over 5 million views, joining Greta Gerwig's Barbie and David Fincher's Fight Club. It's an eclectic list that reflects the diverse tastes of the platform's users. While Interstellar is a philosophical big screen spectacle, Barbie is a satirical comedy drama, and Fight Club is the definition of a cult hit.

Whoopi Goldberg is no stranger to bold moments on The View, but her latest move might be one of her most unforgettable. The legendary actress and talk show host recently called out a Hollywood icon who was trying to keep a low profile in the studio audience.
As longtime viewers know, The View is more than just a platform for its co-hosts to share their opinions—it’s also a stage for high-profile guests from politics, entertainment, and beyond.
Recently, the show welcomed actors Naomi Watts and Bill Murray, who appeared to promote their latest film, The Friend. They weren’t alone, though. A Great Dane named Bing, also a star of the film, made an impression of his own—particularly on Joy Behar, who couldn’t help but notice the dog’s… well, impressive presence.

During another recent episode, Broadway star Latanya Richardson Jackson joined the panel.

Samuel L. Jackson Wig Clash(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Samuel L. Jackson never backed down from making bold choices, especially when it came to his look. In Pulp Fiction, his character, Jules Winnfield, became instantly recognizable with his jheri curl wig. But getting that hairstyle on screen wasn’t easy. Jackson had to fight Quentin Tarantino for it.
Jackson always saw his appearance as part of his craft. Early in his career, he made a conscious effort to change up his look for every role. For Pulp Fiction, he had a vision for Jules’ hair – one that Tarantino didn’t share at first.
“It was my deliberate choice to be as different as I possibly could in as many films as I could,” Jackson told Gentleman’s Journal. “So I made my face and my hair and my beard my canvas. It was my idea for the wig in Pulp Fiction.

When it comes to Hollywood’s AI future, few have been more vocal — or critical — than Justine Bateman.
Armed with a computer science degree from UCLA, the veteran actor-filmmaker has sounded an alarm about the dangers of replacing human work with machine fabrication. She became a lead voice during the strikes when she advised SAG-AFTRA on the issue and was a public face of the AI-skeptic movement on the WGA picket line.
Bateman is the founder of Credo 23, a two-year-old organization that believes Generative AI “will destroy the structure of the film business” and has set as its goal “making very human, very raw, very real films/series that respect the process of filmmaking.”
As Hollywood begins to cautiously dance with text-to-video tools like OpenAI’s Sora and as the company makes Miyazaki-esque images available (to no small furor), Bateman is renewing her call. The Family Ties star and Violet...

The number of familiar faces that will be seen in Dexter: Resurrectioncontinues to grow. The upcoming series, which will serve as a new sequel for Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, will arrive on Showtime and Paramount+ this summer.
Per Deadline, it's been revealed that actor Jimmy Smits has joined Dexter: Resurrection to reprise his role as Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado. In the original Dexter, Smits made his debut as Miguel in the show's third season. Taking a page from Dexter, Miguel ended up becoming a murderous vigilante himself, though he didn't abide by the "Code" that Dexter strongly believes in. By the end of the season, Dexter had killed Miguel, though the character would remain one of the most memorable of the original series' run.

Did Quentin Tarantino’s mother doubt his career and abilities?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Quentin Tarantino isn’t one to back down—primarily when it comes to his adoration for writing. The legendary director of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill always knew he was meant to tell stories, even when others negated him. His love for screenwriting started young, but not everyone regarded his knack.
During a 2021 interview on The Moment podcast with Brian Koppelman (via People), Tarantino recalled how his mother, Connie Zastoupil, dismissed his passion for writing when he was in middle school. School wasn’t his thing, and teachers weren’t exactly his biggest fans either. He was the kid who ignored math problems in favor of scribbling screenplays in his notebook—something his teachers saw as defiance rather than creativity. He was even “officially known as the dumb kid in class.”
But the real gut punch came at home.

Born in 1963, Quentin Tarantino redefined independent cinema with his pulpy mix of violence, dark humor and pop culture, crafting several modern classics. But before he made history, he made a living as a video store clerk while penning spec scripts. He made his directorial debut with "Reservoir Dogs" (1992), a "Rashomon"-esque crime drama about a botched jewel heist. Two more of his scripts, "True Romance" (1993) and "Natural Born Killers" (1994), were later produced by Tony Scott and Oliver Stone, respectively.
He hit the Oscar jackpot just two years after his filmmaking debut with "Pulp Fiction" (1994), a multi-narrative, self-referential pastiche about a group of criminals whose lives intersect in surprising ways. After winning the Palme d'Or at Cannes, the indie hit went on to collect a screenwriting prize for Tarantino and Roger Avery, earning nominations in Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (John Travolta), Best Supporting Actor (Samuel L. Jackson), Best Supporting...

Quentin Tarantino is known for having clear-cut ideas about what he wants in each of his movies from his cast. It probably doesn't come as a shock that there are a number of rejection stories from actors, but this one, regarding Reservoir Dogs, might be a little unexpected. The film was Tarantino's breakthrough as an independent film director. He went on to have minor roles in other films and shows, including ER and has been credited as a writer on the likes of From Dusk Till Dawn, but it's his directing work that he is most acknowledged for.
With Reservoir Dogs relying heavily on dialogue to convey the heist story, Tarantino needed a compelling cast that would replace the action. X-Files star David Duchovny made an attempt at becoming part of the crime movie, when he auditioned to play Mr. Orange. Despite Tarantino thinking Duchovny was a great actor,...

Movies might seem like magic, but Hollywood’s favorite actors, directors, producers, stunt performers, props masters, costumers, script coordinators, and cinematographers are still only human. Since before that child extra prematurely covered his ears for Eva Marie Saint shooting Cary Grant in Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest,” audiences have delighted in finding the little moments that make their favorite films imperfect.
Like freckles on a human face, mistakes can make movies infinitely more special to the audiences that love them. Consider the clumsy stormtrooper of “A New Hope,” whose hilariously audible collision with an Imperial spaceship doorframe turned the extra’s true identity into an ongoing mystery for the Star Wars ages. Or, for “The Lord of the Rings” fans among us, there’s the anachronistic automobile appearing in “Fellowship of the Ring” right alongside Sam and Frodo. As for the Wizarding World, how about that bike seat on Harry’s broomstick?...

23 years ago, S.W.A.T. made its return to the screen, relaunching an action franchise that had been largely forgotten since its original run as a TV series in 1975. The original show followed a specialized police force in California, tackling organized crime, terrorism and drug trafficking. But, despite its strong debut and ratings, the series was eventually canceled due to concerns over violence on television.
In 2003, S.W.A.T. was revived as a feature film. The film, starring Colin Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson, followed the same premise as the original series, with a S.W.A.T team facing off against the city’s biggest criminals. This relaunch set the stage for a television reboot in 2017. The new series, led by Shemar Moore, introduced the franchise to a younger, more diverse audience. But it was the 2003 film that brought the franchise back to life, with a focus on authenticity that set it apart as one of...

Samuel L. Jackson is crediting Bruce Willis for inspiring him to join a film franchise.
Jackson, who co-starred with Willis in “Pulp Fiction,” “Die Hard With a Vengeance,” “Unbreakable,” and “Glass,” said that his longtime collaborator gave him some of the best career advice. “He told me, ‘Hopefully you’ll be able to find a character that, when you make bad movies and they don’t make any money, you can always go back to this character everybody loves,’” Jackson recalled to Vanity Fair in honor of Willis’ 70th birthday.
While on the “Die Hard With a Vengeance” set Willis gave Jackson some examples too: “He said, ‘Arnold’s got ‘Terminator.’ Sylvester’s got Rocky and Rambo. I’ve got John McClane.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, Ok.’ And it didn’t occur to me until I got that Nick Fury role — and I had a nine-picture deal to be Nick Fury — that,...

In honor of “Die Hard” star Bruce Willis‘ 70th birthday on Wednesday, Samuel L. Jackson revealed the insightful career advice the actor gave him on the set of 1995’s “Die Hard With a Vengeance.”
Willis and Jackson famously both starred in Quentin Tarantino’s generation-defining 1994 hit, “Pulp Fiction.” It was not until Jackson was cast as the character Zeus in “Die Hard With a Vengeance,” though, that he and Willis actually got to share scenes together onscreen. While making the blockbuster, Jackson says Willis gave him an important piece of career advice.

Salt ahoy! A new film from Quentin Tarantino has appeared in Production Weekly, suggesting it would begin shooting in December this year.
An “Untitled Quentin Tarantino Project” has appeared in the latest issue of industry-tracking site Production Weekly, with the listing suggesting the director is scheduled to start shooting something in Los Angeles in December 2025.
The listing credits Tarantino as writer-director, with David Heyman, Shannon McIntosh and Stacey Sher producing. Tarantino previously worked with Heyday Films on 2019’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
The only name locked into the cast list is Brad Pitt, with Uma Thurman and Samuel L Jackson (too many to list) also mentioned.
Production Weekly is an industry-standard source for projects entering production – but this “greatest hits” list of names could sound a little too good to be true. As recently as January, Tarantino told an audience at the Sundance Film Festival that he was...

Tim Roth's career has been "healthily messy".The 63-year-old actor has starred in a host of well-known movies, including 'Reservoir Dogs', 'Pulp Fiction' and 'The Hateful Eight' - but Tim admits that there's also been a chaotic element to his career. The London-born film star told The Hollywood Reporter: "My feeling is that the career that I was after was anarchy. I always like that - and chaos. "So, I always do a film to finance another film. Because a lot of these films that I love to do, these crazy films I love to do, have no money. They’re the little independent things that are trying and are struggling to be made even more now than ever. So you got to do the ones that finance them. But sometimes they are terrible, and sometimes they are great, and sometimes the little independents don’t work.

Joe Russo, one half of the famous Russo Brothers directing team, has sparked debate with his take on why big-budget movies rarely win major awards. Known for directing massive hits like Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, Russo points the finger at Harvey Weinstein. He claims Weinstein’s actions decades ago shifted how the film industry views blockbusters during awards season.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Russo explained his view. “This trend was started by Harvey Weinstein,” he said. “He vilified mainstream movies to champion the art films he pushed for Oscar campaigns. Popular films were winning Oscars before the mid-Nineties, then Weinstein started mudslinging campaigns.”
