Although "The Corbomite Maneuver" was the tenth "Star Trek" episode to air on television, it was actually the first produced after the pilot episode, "Where No Man Has Gone Before." As all good Trekkies know, the ideal order in which to watch "Star Trek" is its production order. Broadcast order is for chumps and poseurs.
In "The Corbomite Maneuver," the U.S.S. Enterprise is approached by a massive and mysterious alien spaceship, perfectly spherical and possessed of immense destructive power. The ship is called the Fesarius, and Captain Kirk (William Shatner) can only communicate with the Fesarius' captain, Balok (voiced by Ted Cassidy), via audio. Balok declares that he very much intends to destroy the Enterprise using his superior weapons. Thinking quickly, Kirk bluffs; he says that the Enterprise is equipped with an imaginary substance called Corbomite that would react negatively to a weapons attack and destroy both ships.

In the teasers for “Chapter 5” of American Horror Story: Roanoke, Matt informed us that “there was no way out” of the pickle in which he and Shelby had been left at the end of “Chapter 4.” But, since we’re nowhere near the end of Season 6, presumably, Wednesday’s episode couldn’t reduce them to, as Mrs. Miller put it, “nothing more than prey” to The Butcher & Co. So how did the couple escape from the mob on their doorstep? Read on and find out.

Star Trek fans in the United States love Netflix, because just about anything and everything Star Trek can be found there. So much, people in other countries would like the same access especially since their Netflix might have good selection, but no Star Trek. That's what happened in Canada, where Netflix has no sign of Star Trek anywhere. So residents there used technology originally designed to create remote offices for companies to make Netflix think they were accessing the service in the United States, and allowing Kirk, Picard, Sisko, and even Janeway and Archer into their homes.Well, they did. Past tense.Three months after Netflix said it would crack down on the usage of VPNs or virtual private networks Canada became the highest-profile casualty with one of the largest Vpn providers beginning ...

Exclusive: Trio of films to explore theme of the “the past”.
Israeli film-maker Avi Nesher is due to start shooting the first film in a trilogy of works devoted to the theme of ‘the past’ this autumn.
“They’re all based on really strange true stories,” Nesher told ScreenDaily.
“In Past Life, the past is a villain, in Past Tense it is a mystery and in the final film it will be a lover.
“I was a film critic before I became a director. I figure that if I invent anything I’m probably ripping off old movies I once saw which is why I like to work with real-life flights of fantasy,” continued Nesher, whose credits include The Wonders(2013), The Matchmaker (2010) and The Secrets (2007).
“The past is a complicated issue in Israel. We deal with a Jewish past and an Israeli past. Sometimes they’re parallel, sometimes they’re the same, sometimes they’re...

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo on behalf of Sound on Sight. I had a great time, and I was able to do a number of things there that you don’t actually care about. You care about the comics, and I don’t blame you. (Yes, dear reader, I am in your head. You should clean in here more often. It’s like you weren’t expecting company or something.) Now, instead of turning in the same articles that you’ll see on any other comic site, we’re taking a different route. While at C2E2, I met a lot of writers and artists, people you’ve probably never heard of, and I bought a lot of creator owned/independent comics. So without further ado, I bring you The Best Indies Of C2E2.

After he delivered two raunchy misfires in a row with Your Highness and The Sitter, it’s gratifying to see director David Gordon Green return to the same kind of quiet, low-key dramas that put him on the map. And with an extremely limited cast and one constant backdrop, Prince Avalanche is perhaps Green’s quietest, lowest-key film yet.
Its commitment to the abstract is sometimes maddening, and its glacially slow pace is likely frustrating enough to alienate some viewers. However, I found Prince Avalanche remarkable in its ability to transfix me with the simplest of resources: two soulful performers, nature as a nonintrusive setting, feather-light direction and a minimalistic script. As it wanders along, the film possesses a strange, poetic charm that defies explanation.
As the film opens, we learn about a forest fire in the late 1980s that tore through the Texas wilderness, reducing trees and homes to ashes.

Director David Gordon Green makes his way back to the indie world that gave him his start, years before "Pineapple Express" and "Your Highness" turned his head with "Prince Avalanche." The comically dry dramedy smoothly fits into the career that produced "All the Real Girls," "Undertow" and "Snow Angels."
It's a "Waiting for Godot" set in the solitary work and lives of two highway line-painters. Alvin (Paul Rudd) is troubled, in the wilderness of a recently burned-out forest in a remote corner of Texas to "reap the rewards of solitude." Lance (Emile Hirsch) is Alvin's girlfriend's chatty, nervous brother, an aimless skirt-chaser in need of a job and some focus in life.
And when the film begins, more than six minutes pass before they exchange a word. They paint fresh lines on a scorched road and glue down reflectors in between the lines. Alvin insists they listen to Portuguese language...

Bunheads 1.02 "For Fanny" Review
As much as I thoroughly enjoyed the pilot of Bunheads, it left me with a series of questions about when certain elements were going to be explored and/or built on. With the girls not terribly well-developed (for now) and the question of how Michelle will stay in Paradise still lingering, the main thing that I wondered about was the usage of dance itself. Dance can be an extraordinarily emotional art form that says more in movement than in an entire conversation's worth of dialogue, but the pilot didn't embrace it as much as I expected. Granted, the impromptu audition was by far my favorite scene of the episode, but there's a difference between noodling around in the studio and putting on a routine and the latter could add a little more weight to the scenes with the girls if undertaken properly.

Latest: Former Beverly Hills 90210 star Gabrielle Carteris is set to shock TV viewers in America by airing home video footage of her battling paralysis.
The 47-year-old actress was left partly paralysed after a choking scene in 2006 movie Past Tense went too far, and left her with no feeling in parts of her body and her face disfigured.
Carteris only recently went public with her health battle, telling America's People magazine she couldn't move her face, and was terrified to go out in public.
But now, not only is she telling her frightening story, she's showing footage of the worst of her battle.
The shocking home video, which will air as part of U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight on Friday shows Carteris suffering painful spasms as she sits in her bed and desperately
tries to speak.
Medication has helped the actress, who claims she was left with permanent facial nerve damage following the painful film shoot, control her spasms and she's thankful she has her life back.
She adds, "At one point, I thought that it would be for life."...
