- Based on a book of the same name, Bitter Blood is also known as In the Best of Families Marriage, Pride, and Madness. It is based on the true story of Susie Newsome Lynch and Fritz Klenner. The movie first came to CBS as a two part movie on January 16 and January 18, 1994. After an ugly divorce, and a bitter custody battle,a man suspects his ex-wife and her boyfriend, (who is also her cousin) of harming their children and possibly being involved in the murder of his mother and sister. After their murders, he hears that 3 of Susie's family members, including her parents and an aunt, are shot and killed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He contacts the police to investigate Susie's and her cousin/boyfriend, Fritz. The police do pursue Susie and Fritz with tragic results.
