Gore Whore stars Audrey Street as white-trash hooker Dawn Day (a tribute to Romero, no doubt) who has made off with a crazy scientist's latest discovery—a Reanimator style bright green goop that is capable of bringing the dead back to life. Ex-cop turned private-eye Chase Barr (Brady Debussey) is hired to locate the girl, unaware that she is in fact a murderous zombie herself, kept alive by the miraculous substance (which she applies via a modified sex-toy) and a constant supply of fresh blood.
Bearing such a blatant title, this scuzzy piece of home-made trash clearly aims to titillate and disgust in equal measures, but with the majority of its already virtually non-existent budget blown on its natty black dildo-cum-syringe prop, viewers shouldn't go expecting tons of quality T&A or realistic splatter: after all, hard-bodied hotties and great gore FX don't come cheap, whereas tattooed trollops and strawberry sauce are a snip.
In addition to its regular but remarkably unappealing nudity and thoroughly unconvincing on screen violence (which includes a couple of crap emasculations, some throat biting, a severed head, and a frenzied but clumsily executed knife attack on a big breasted blonde that involves lots of strawberry sauce, which Audrey licks off her victim afterwards—waste not, want not!), Gore Whore also boasts terrible acting, incredibly lo-fi visuals, and wildly varying sound levels.
However, considering how amateurish the film is in nearly every department, I'm quite surprised to find myself awarding it a better-than-it-probably-deserves rating of 5/10. It might be utter garbage thrown together by talent-free no-hopers, but it managed to hold my attention; and besides, I have to have admiration for any indie project that dares to show so much skin (no matter how manky), presents zombies reanimated by rectal injection, and still finds time to feature a completely pointless shot of a contented-looking horse.
