Good film with the element of suspense.

Warning: Spoilers
This film was good since it had the element of suspense throughout. Of course, it was sad to see the Inuit being forced to move out of their homes just because the gov'ts told them too!! :(( I was disgusted to find out that those 2 useless subs were sitting there at the bottom of the ocean for all of those 8 years and "no one knew about them being there at all" until just the day before. Like, yeah right no one knew about it! Those stupid things had no business being there in Inuit waters to begin with since no one ever even bothered to contact them to see if it was alright to even have them there at all! That's what's so infuriating about the whole issue.

Furthermore, the female scientist wouldn't have even perished if she wasn't exposed to that crappy radiation! She was probably exposed to it for too long and it finally caught up to her. :( Fortunately Nelson rescued her from freezing. When she got picked up by the chopper, the idiot pilots didn't even bother to thank him for literally saving her life! As a matter of fact, no one did; not even the media! That was another infuriating thing to see! But...... oh well.....ANYWAYS..... that's the way the directors and producers of the film wanted the characters to be portrayed. But I thought this film was good nonetheless. That's why I gave this one a 7 out of 10.

Good movie!

Warning: Spoilers
Even though Henri's review indicated some of the actors were acting for first time I thought acting was pretty good, natural, calm; didn't feel that it was an act which means it was natural and perfect. Felt good watching the calmness and sweetness of family up north (guess cold gets you) rather than some other movies which sometimes portray a slightly different act.

Nelson and Brendan's acting was good. Surprised that both don't have their profile on IMDb and makes one wonder if they again acted or didn't. Certainly would have expected Nelson being in more movies.

The music was also very good, especially the one with bit of fast pace.

How they build igloo was bit of eye opening however they didn't show fully or bit more and rather just 10-20 secs shot of putting slabs (one would imagine it taking lot more time standing it up and how-where do they cut slabs of ice from.

this is what the North looks like

I was an extra in this movie, so I guess I'm not totally objective. It was shot on location - with real Northen people, shown in true situations. Some of the actors have never acted before, and you can tell - but there are the pros like Wendy Crewson and Robert Clothier. It started out pretty good, then suddenly I got the feeling they ran out of time or money and had to finish in a hurry, so they completed it in Toronto... was the second half of the movie made by different people? The first half is worth watching, the Toronto part was just OK.
