The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has replaced legendary production designer Rick Carter’s two Oscars after they were lost in the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.

Carter, who won two Academy Awards for his work on 2009’s Avatar and 2012’s Lincoln, was among thousands whose homes were destroyed when wildfires ripped through the Pacific Palisades and Altadena in January.

On Monday, the Academy shared on its official Instagram account that CEO Bill Kramer presented Carter with his new statuettes. “Today we had the honor of replacing the Oscars that legendary production designer Rick Carter won for Avatar and Lincoln — awards he lost when the LA fires destroyed his home earlier this year,” the caption read.

Perfectionist actor Aamir Khan is all set for his next theatrical release, Sitaare Zameen Par, which is reportedly a remake of the Spanish film ‘Campeones’. The sports drama has been directed by R.S. Prasanna, whose previous directorial projects include the Tamil rom-com movie ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’. The film is described as a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan’s 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par.

As per a recent report by Pinkvilla, Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled to be released in theatres on June 20th, 2025, contrary to the earlier expected release date of May 30th, 2025. So, there are just two more months to go. The makers have yet to announce an official confirmation about the release date.

The No Fakes Act was introduced last year but failed to advance in Congress even with bipartisan support and changes that alleviated First Amendment worries.

The legislation gives individuals the right to authorize the use of their voice and likeness in digital replication. The digital replication right does not expire at a person’s death, and can be transferred and licensed by heirs, executors and others. That post-mortem right, though, terminates no longer than 70 years after an individual’s passing.

The legislation is sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tn), Sen. Chris Coons (D-de), Sen. Thom Tillis (R-Nc) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-mn). In the House, the sponsors are Rep.

Like many men before him, Chet Hanks has made the pivot from hip-hop to country music, and he’s teamed up with singer-songwriter Drew Arthur for the new duo Something Out West. They made their debut with “Leaving Hollywood” last month, and now, they’re back with the country rock track “You Better Run.”

Though the song doesn’t reference the 1994 film beyond the playful title, the music video goes full Forrest Gump parody, with Hanks donning the character’s blue and grey suit and reprising the iconic bench scene from the movie. Shifting Gears star Tim Allen has shared a delightful exchange between him and his Toy Story co-star, Tom Hanks, on social media. Allen and Hanks first teamed up 30 years ago for Toy Story (1995), the animated adventure film that was not only nominated for three Oscars, but also grossed over $390 million at the global box office against a $30 million budget. The two have since worked together on every Toy Story movie, even as recently as Toy Story 4 in 2019, which grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Allen posted two photos on his personal X account, one Hanks sent him of him standing behind the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz, and another that he replied to his co-star, recreating his picture.

While their roles in the Toy Story franchise remain some of the most important in both of their careers, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks have both gone on to accomplish great things as actors.

A Reddit short story is making the jump to the big screen. Sydney Sweeney is attached to star in I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, an upcoming movie based on a Reddit short story by Joe Cote.

Per Deadline, Sweeney will also produce I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl through her Fifty-Fifty Films. The movie is set up at Warner Bros., with Eric Roth set to adapt Cote's Reddit short story. Roth is best known for scripting Forrest Gump (1994), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), and Denis Villeneuve's 2021 movie Dune. He also provided additional literary material for the 2024 sequel Dune: Part Two. The short story centers around a drifter who "impersonates a missing girl to rob the girl’s family — only to realize she’s made a terrible mistake."

Sweeney is currently one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors, with several projects in various stages of development.

Sydney is actually the one who brought the writer on board, and Warner Bros has won the rights to distribute the film.

Four years ago, a high school English teacher posted a short story to Reddit, a tale with Gone Girl-worthy twists and turns. Now, Joe Cote is in the midst of his own real-life plot twist.

The Massachusetts-based educator’s project is in development as a feature, with Sydney Sweeney attached to star and produce, and Oscar-winning Forrest Gump scribe Eric Roth penning the script.

Warner Bros. has won the rights to the package in a competitive situation that now puts the teacher on Hollywood’s radar. He first landed representation after manager Aaron Folbe of Underground Entertainment stumbled upon the story and sought Cote out for a meeting.
