Lydia Deetz, her stepmother Delia Deetz, and her daughter Astrid stand over a casket, the burial services in progress. We can barely make out who the funeral is for but there he is on the headstone: Charles Deetz. While Charles was once part of the Beetlejuice sequel when the ghost with the most was to “go Hawaiian”, he was written entirely out of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice…for reasons that will soon be obvious.

Juice Cocktail: Burton Revamps His First Demon
There’s no way to reproduce the imaginative awe of Tim Burton’s 1988 idiosyncratic goth YA classic Beetlejuice. Or, for that matter, any of Burton’s exceptionally weird but trailblazing offerings through the 1980s and 1990s, including his first two Batman films, Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Ed Wood (1994). He lionized Michael Keaton and gave us Winona Ryder as the Gen-x pin-up girl who made brooding cynicism a living, breathing sensibility, the likes of which would only be equaled in animated form by Daria. But he’s an iconoclast whose favored themes and tactics suffered mightily when CGI poisoned his tangible alchemies, and his counter culture worldview eventually became rote.…...

In the article series Sound and Vision we take a look at music videos from notable directors. This week: two music videos Tim Burton made for The Killers. Tim Burton wears his influences on his sleeve. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which premieres this week at the Venice Film Festival, is the first time since Batman Returns that Tim Burton is making a sequel to his own movie. And this is the first time that an original concept by Burton is sequelized by himself. Recently, Burton has been playing the franchise-game, with films like Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. But even before that films like Mars Attacks, Ed Wood and Sleepy Hollow aped the styles of predecessors and inspirations from Burton's childhood....

In his 40-year career, Tim Burton has carved out a niche for himself making quirky, eccentric films that are often box office bonanzas. Let’s take a look back at all 19 of his films, ranked from worst to best, in our photo gallery.
Burton began his career as an animator for Walt Disney Studios before making the short films “Vincent” (1982) and “Frankenweenie” (1984). He directed his first feature when he was just 26 years old: “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” (1985). Burton followed that success with the macabre comedy “Beetlejuice” (1988) before entering the world of blockbusters with the dark, ominous superhero adventure “Batman” (1989).
From the beginning, Burton displayed a talent for crafting visually stunning worlds unlike any seen before. Four of his films, in fact — “Batman,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Alice in Wonderland” — have won Oscars for their art direction.
Burton often returned to his animation roots, first as a producer on “The Nightmare Before Christmas...

The enduring legacy of campy cult favorite “Ed Wood” is still celebrated 30 years later.
The beloved 1994 film was directed by Tim Burton and starred Johnny Depp as the filmmaker known for helming B-movie greats, most infamously 1959’s “Plan 9 from Outer Space.” Wood’s other features include “Orgy of the Dead,” “Glen or Glenda,” and “Bride of the Monster.” He was awarded the Golden Turkey title of Worst Director in 1975.
Burton’s 1994 biopic “Ed Wood” was written by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, and co-starred Bill Murray, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Martin Landau, who won an Oscar for portraying Bela Lugosi.
“Ed Wood” producer Denise Di Novi detailed her own love of the film three decades later, explaining why “Ed Wood” is one of the most personal projects for both her and longtime collaborator Burton to date. After working as the creative consultant on David Cronenberg’s iconic “Videodrome,” Di...

An occasional look at the surprising creative outlets of members of the Hollywood community.
Producer Denise Di Novi has been a fixture in Hollywood since she first arrived on the scene with Heathers, the pitch-black comedy that became one of the breakout hits at Sundance when that festival was establishing itself. She has followed with credits including Edward Scissorhands, Message In A Bottle, James and the Giant Peach, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Batman Returns, Little Women, Ed Wood and many others.
Di Novi will reveal another side of herself when she unveils Portal, an exhibit of her paintings beginning August 10 at the Honarker Foundation Gallery in Laguna Beach. The exhibition runs through September 14.
She is passionate about her art, though she cannot really describe her style, because she isn’t trained in the traditional manner. It is just something that bubbles up and comes out of her.

The Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling is particularly tough to predict early on because of the complicated system by which the nominees are determined in two stages. First, upwards of 15 members of the branch who attend special screenings cast preferential ballots with the top 10 vote-getters moving on to the second stage (it was a lucky seven till 2021). Those members from the first stage and any other members who either attend screenings of excerpts from these semi-finalists or attest that they have seen them cast preferential ballots and the top five films are nominated; that is up from three in years past. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscars Best Makeup and Hairstyling predictions.).
As a result of being well-received at these screenings, titles that had not been part of the conversation in the first few months of awards season end up as nominees. For example, the Swedish films “A Man Called Ove...

Have you ever noticed how Tommy from Rugrats sounds just like one of the Powerpuff Girls? Or that Scooby-Doo and Astro from The Jetsons speak very similar dog languages?
Hollywood’s voice-acting community is full of really talented people who can churn out a bunch of different voices, but that doesn’t mean they don’t occasionally have characters that end up sounding exactly alike (it doesn’t help that this group of performers is relatively small).
To that end, here are 10 sets of cartoon characters whose voices are practically interchangeable…
10 Scooby-Doo and Astro
The Jetsons, which debuted as a prime-time show in 1962, is considered a classic today, but it didn’t gain that status until the 1980s when it re-debuted on Saturday mornings with new episodes. And so, when Scooby-Doo came along in 1969, six years after The Jetsons was canceled, voice actor Don Messick thought nothing of re-using Astro...

One of Tim Burton's first professional gigs after his stint at the California Institute of Arts was working as an animator, storyboard artist, and graphic designer at Disney. Burton was born and raised in Burbank, California, which is where Disney's offices are located, so he more or less grew up in the company's shadow. He worked at the Mouse House for a few years in the early '80s, working on films like "The Fox and the Hound," "Tron," and "The Black Cauldron." It should be noted that this was a notoriously bad time for Disney, and the financial failure of the ultra-ambitious and very expensive "Cauldron" (it cost $44 million) led to an open conversation about Disney shutting down its animation department.
Of course, while Disney was floundering financially, they were freer to experiment artistically. I maintain that Disney's most interesting movies came at a time when their kiddie-flick successes didn't define them.

Martin Landau is the Oscar-winning thespian who enjoyed one of the greatest late career renaissances in cinema history, hitting his stride in his 60’s and remaining active until his death in 2017. Let’s take a look back at 12 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, Landau first came to the attention of movie audiences with a villainous role in Alfred Hitchcock‘s “North by Northwest” (1959). He became a television star playing Rollin Hand on “Mission: Impossible,” for which he received three consecutive Emmy nominations as Best Drama Actor (1967-1968) and a Golden Globe victory in 1968.
After decades of bit roles in B-movies and guest spots on TV (including playing a bad guy on “Columbo”), Landau enjoyed a major career comeback thanks to Francis Ford Coppola‘s “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” (1988), for which he won the Golden Globe and earned his first...

The Tim Burton and Johnny Depp collaborations are certainly prolific. While Depp was a teen star on the Fox series 21 Jump Street, he had a weird creative force inside of him that a high school cop series didn’t fulfill. Then came a new movie called Edward Scissorhands that paired Depp with his long-time director friend. Deadline reports that Depp is being featured in a new docu-series that’s a retrospective on the career of Tim Burton, and the actor reveals who he beat out for the part of Edward.
According to People, Depp said the competition was stiff for the titular character and names like Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and even the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, were being considered for the role. Depp explained that Cruise “was not far away from actually playing Edward Scissorhands — true story.” Depp admitted to thinking, “He’s never going to cast...

Johnny Depp reveals in Tara Wood’s still-untitled documentary on Tim Burton (via People) that Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Michael Jackson were all in contention for the iconic role of Edward Scissorhands in Burton’s 1990 movie of the same name. Cruise “was not far away from actually playing Edward Scissorhands — true story,” Depp says. With so many A-listers up for the part, he nearly rejected the chance to audition despite desperately wanting the role.
At this point in Depp’s career, he was feeling “pigeonholed” by the success of being a teen idol thanks to his series regular role on “21 Jump Street.” Part of the reason why he signed up for John Waters’ 1990 comedy movie “Cry-Baby” was because he had to “fight” against his teen heartthrob persona and Waters’ film allowed him to skewer it, which “was the first solid step in the direction I wanted to go.

Despite his imposter syndrome, Johnny Depp beat out some of the biggest names in film (and music) for his breakout role.
The Academy Award nominee revealed he beat out the likes of Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and even Michael Jackson for his eponymous role in Tim Burton’s 1990 gothic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.
He told director Tara Wood that Cruise “was not far away from actually playing Edward Scissorhands — true story” as he reflected on the film for an untitled docuseries about Burton, according to People.
Depp ultimately landed the role of the loving outcast, who was created by a scientist (Vincent Price) with scissors in place of his hands. When his creator dies, a local woman (Dianne Wiest) takes Edward into her suburban home, where he falls in love with her daughter (Winona Ryder) and faces ostracism from the townspeople.

I recently recapped the fascinating Best Actor race of 2003, in which saw Sean Penn in “Mystic River” win the first of his two Best Actor Oscars. (He would prevail again five years later for “Milk.”)
Regarding Penn’s first victory, he faced stiff competition not only from Bill Murray in “Lost in Translation” but also Johnny Depp in “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” Depp hadn’t initially been considered much of a threat — until he pulled off a huge upset at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
A dedicated Gold Derby reader has since asked me how Depp managed to surprise at SAG. Figuring that others might be wondering the same thing, I thought that I would offer everyone in awards land my Top 5 reasons why. And here they are.

Mickey Cottrell, a veteran publicist for independent films known as a champion of filmmakers and actors, died Monday at the Motion Picture Hospital in Woodland Hills, his sister Suzy Cottrell confirmed. He was 79.
Cottrell had returned to Los Angeles in 2019 after living with his sister in Arkansas while he recovered from a stroke he suffered in 2016.
His sister remembered him on Facebook, writing, “My adorable, fun, critical, foodie, particular, brilliant, loving brother passed on to the next life early on New Year’s Day. He was smiling when he died. Mickey Cottrell will be missed by many.”
A fixture at film festivals, he was remembered by friends on Facebook as a generous and sassy raconteur, a devoted mentor, the “life of the party” who threw star-studded Sundance parties in the 1990s and an expert on gay Hollywood history.

“Cobweb”, Kim Jee-woon's tenth feature film, marks the director's return to comedy for the first time since the beginning of his career. This satire on the film industry is a true cinematic layer cake: one can dig into it with hearty bites for the sheer pleasure of the visual feast, or one can peel it apart, layer by layer, to unveil a fascinating portrayal of the dark period of Korean history in the 1970s and a profound introspection by the director on creativity and the filmmaking profession.
Kim Jee-woon began his career in the 1990s as an actor and a theater director before directing his debut feature film, “The Quiet Family”, in 1998. He is part of a new generation of filmmakers, along with Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook, who no longer followed the traditional apprenticeship model of old studios, but are authentic cinephiles who came to cinema out of pure passion.

Johnny Depp has played Cannes many times, with four of his films in Competition: “Dead Man” and “Ed Wood” (both 1995), “The Brave,” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” (1998), but he’s never had this much at stake on the Croisette. As the randy King Louis Xv, powdered and wigged in the opening-night Out of Competition selection “Jeanne du Barry,” Depp will begin his latest effort at career rehab.
Depp, who will be 60 in a few weeks, is well past his movie-star prime and remains in recovery from a string of court cases. Depp lost his “wife-beater” U.K. libel case against ex-wife Amber Heard in 2020, but last June he won $10 million in compensatory damages in a U.S. court. Warner Bros. paid his $16 million fee for the third “Fantastic Beasts” film, but asked him to resign from playing the role of Grindelwald in the Harry Potter franchise. (Mads Mikkelsen replaced him.

If there’s a prolific director who has his own distinctive style, it’s Tim Burton. Whether the movie is hit or miss, the filmmaker has always been able to inject his personality and vision into it. He became the voice for a generation of misfits with a dark edge, who gravitated toward his films in the 80s and 90s. And faithful to the material or not, he popularized the superhero movie and established a blueprint for it. It’s natural that a documentary on such a unique talent would manifest, and according to Deadline, a new documentary series on Tim Burton will be heading to the Cannes market.
The documentary, which is currently untitled, will be a four-part series directed by Tara Wood. Wood had previously made two other documentaries about famous filmmakers with a Richard Linklater feature called 21 Years: Richard Linklater and a doc on Quentin Tarantino titled QT8: The First Eight.

“I particularly love Wednesday because she shares my worldview on things. And that was fun to explore,” shared Tim Burton in a behind-the-scenes featurette about making the Netflix series. It marks the director’s first foray into TV after a film career that spawned classics like “Beetlejuice,” “Batman,” “Edward Scissorhands” and “Ed Wood.” His animator’s apprenticeship with Walt Disney Studios in the early 1980s laid the foundation for Burton’s two Oscar nominated films, “Corpse Bride” and “Frankenweenie.” Forty years into his storied career, the multi-talented writer, producer, animator and director stepped behind the camera for his first television series.

Bela Lugosi never sought to be a horror actor, but Hollywood in the 1930s wasn't kind. Lugosi began acting professionally at the age of 20, appearing in several traveling operetta productions in his native Hungary. After a stint in the army, Lugosi began a career in film acting in the 1910s under the stage name Arisztid Olt, one of the cooler stage names one might encounter, and most assuredly the name of a Goth band somewhere in the world. Lugosi eventually fled Hungary, acted in Germany for a spell, then wound up taking a ship to the United States where he would land the role of a lifetime, playing Count Dracula in a celebrated stage adaptation of Bram Stoker's famous novel.
While touring with "Dracula," he caught the attention of Universal talent scouts, and he was to be cast in Tod Browning's 1931 film adaptation of the play/novel (it's...

Three years after nabbing his second Best Film Supporting Actor Golden Globe for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Brad Pitt is back in the hunt for the same prize thanks to his work in Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon.” The 59-year-old, who has now been recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association seven times in less than three decades, has a chance to set a new precedent among film performers. If he succeeds on his “Babylon” bid, he will be the first person to ever win three Golden Globes for supporting film acting.
In “Babylon,” Pitt plays the role of Jack Conrad, a silent era movie star who struggles to adjust to the advent of talking pictures. This period film performance as a show business professional could be his second to lead to a Golden Globe victory, since his “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” character, Cliff Booth, was a 1960s stunt man.

Anyone hoping for a sequel to Tim Burton’s “Dumbo” shouldn’t hold their breath.
Speaking at the Lumière Festival in Lyon after receiving the Prix Lumière, Burton revealed that the 2019 film likely marked the end of his long-running creative relationship with Disney (via Deadline). He began his film career as an animator at Disney before Warner Bros. hired him to make his live-action directorial debut on “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.” He returned to work with Disney on films like “Ed Wood,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Frankenweenie,” and most recently, “Dumbo.”
Burton believes that the entertainment landscape has shifted to the point where it no longer makes sense for him to collaborate with the entertainment giant. He explained that his experience working on “Dumbo” made him realize that Disney had gotten too big for him.

Samuel L. Jackson may have been awarded an honorary Oscar at the 2022 Governors Awards, but the iconic actor isn’t holding his breath for an acting Academy Awards win.
Jackson revealed that he views the Oscars as a “popularity contest” not rooted in the true meaning of moviemaking: to entertain. The “Pulp Fiction” star famously was snubbed, losing to Martin Landau for Tim Burton’s “Ed Wood” in 1995.
“I heard way back when when Martin Landau got the award and I didn’t, ‘C’mon, Sam. Martin’s been nominated so many times. Don’t worry. Your time is coming.’ Excuse me? I didn’t know that’s how it worked,” Jackson told the
Los Angeles Times. “I thought it was the acting performance that made the most impact.”
Jackson added, “That’s what we’re celebrating, the big shit that happened in Hollywood. Best actor, best actress…that’s some bullshit.

In this edition of Career Watch, IndieWire’s occasional vocational checkup of actors and directors and those who hope to get there, we take on Johnny Depp.
As a maligned victim of slander, the 58-year-old’s most recent performance played well with the trial jury as well as the court of public opinion. He won 10 million in compensatory damages and 350,000 in punitive damages against his ex-wife Amber Heard, who wrote in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed a year after their divorce that she was a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” The jury ruled that she failed to prove that he physically abused her.
Since then, Depp has discovered TikTok and gratefully calls his fans his “employers,” but of course they don’t write the checks. Those who do are less likely to be swayed by viral social memes — or at least, as Sony recently learned through the spectacular failure of its “Morbius” re-release,...

Five years since Johnny Depp’s last turn as Jack Sparrow, and it seems the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise is setting its sails elsewhere.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that two more “Pirates” scripts are currently in development, but neither will include Depp’s Sparrow. Depp landed an Oscar nomination for “Pirates” installment “Curse of the Black Pearl,” and his last appearance in the Disney-owned franchise was in 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales.”

Robbie’s female-led pirate adventure film was announced in 2020, with executive producer and lead star Robbie collaborating again with “Birds of Prey” scribe Christina Hodson on the script for “Pirates of the Caribbean 6.”

Nicolas Cage helped Johnny Depp get his first film role in what turned out to be Wes Craven’s original Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. For many actors, being in a horror classic would be the highlight of their career. For Depp, it was just the beginning.
The actor has made nearly 100 films since then, including What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Chocolat, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Black Mass and, of course, five Pirates films that have grossed over 4 billion worldwide.
Depp has worked with a long list of great actors including Oscar-winners Marlon Brando, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo Di Caprio, Juliette Binoche, Al Pacino, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Charlize Theron and Martin Landeau.

Tim Burton fans looking for the real estate opportunity of a lifetime, take note.
The famous house from “Edward Scissorhands” in Lutz, Florida is up for sale, according to Tampa’s Channel 8. If Burton’s film about the weirdness of suburbia inspired anyone to move to the suburbs, there may never be a better chance than this.
While the Bogg family home is instantly recognizable to many movie lovers, whoever buys this house will get a lot more than just the iconic facade. In 2020, the house was sold to Joey Licalzi, who worked as a dishwasher on the set of “Edward Scissorhands.” Licalzi and his wife have proceeded to turn the house into a shrine to the movie, dubbed “Scissorland.” The front yard still features the famous topiaries from the movie, and the interior features touches like replica wallpaper that mimics the film’s sets.

In a 1996 interview with ArtsBeatLa, Tim Burton said that, after directing "Ed Wood" in 1994, he wanted to make a B-movie of his own. "Ed Wood," a biopic about the legendary Z-grade filmmaker, covered the title character's life from just before his breakout feature "Glen or Glenda?" in 1953 through the premiere of "Plan 9 from Outer Space" in 1959. In recreating some of the most notorious "bad movies" of all time, Burton became intensely interested in both their mechanics and their iconography. And...

Samuel L. Jackson will receive an Honorary Oscar at the 2022 Governors Awards later this month, but the actor says his shelves should already be graced by at least one of the statuettes.
In an interview with Britain’s The Times, Jackson said he “should have won” 1994’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (Martin Landau won that year for his role as Bela Lugosi in Tim Burton’s Ed Wood).
The Times noted that Jackson made the assertion with a smile.
But Jackson had stronger words for being shut out of the 1992 Oscar race, when his supporting performance in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever didn’t earn a nomination.
“My wife and I went to see Bugsy,” Jackson told The Times, referring to the Barry Levinson film starring Warren Beatty, which scored supporting actor nominations for Harvey Keitel and Ben Kingsley. “Damn! They...

At the 13th Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in 2007, Jennifer Hudson (“Dreamgirls”) made history as the first Black winner in the supporting actress category. In the time since, five of the 11 other Black women who have vied for the same award have succeeded. Ruby Dee (“American Gangster”) prevailed the very next year and was followed by Mo’Nique (2009’s “Precious”), Octavia Spencer (2011’s “The Help”), Lupita Nyong’o (2013’s “12 Years a Slave”) and Viola Davis (2016’s “Fences”). Now, having landed a nomination for her role in “Passing,” Ruth Negga could become the lucky seventh member of this group.

“Actor X loses him/herself in a role.” “So-and-so’s performance was transformative.” “They literally become this real-life person.”
We’ve heard statements along those lines so many times over the years when critics and movie journalists are talking about an actor’s performance in a biopic. Usually, that praise is well-earned, but rarely is the work by the makeup artists and hair stylists adequately acknowledged, especially the prosthetics makeup artists who need to do a lot of the often-overlooked work to alter an actor’s features to be more in line with the real-life people they’re portraying.
Whether it’s Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady” or Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour,” the actors pull off near-perfect impersonations with help from the prosthetics that do a lot of the heavy lifting in transforming them.

Kodi Smit-McPhee has maintained a stronghold this awards season for his work as Peter Gordon in Netflix’s “The Power of the Dog.” Pundits and awards enthusiasts have to wonder: has a frontrunner emerged?
Twenty-nine precursor awards have been announced thus far, with 14 naming Smit-McPhee’s darkly psychological turn the best of the year. The next closest actor to his dominance is Troy Kotsur in “Coda” and Jeffrey Wright in “The French Dispatch,” who have picked up three and two wins, respectively. In addition, Smit-McPhee’s also landed Critics Choice and Golden Globe nominations, two critical stops on the awards circuit.
Smit-McPhee is the 16th performer to win both supporting actor honors from both the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. He’s also the youngest person to ever achieve the feat. The others are:
Willem Dafoe, “The Florida Project” (2017) Mahershala Ali, “Moonlight” (2016) – Oscar winner J.K. Simmons,...

The films up for the 2021 Best Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar are “Emma,” “Hillbilly Elegy,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Mank,” and “Pinocchio.” Our current odds show that “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” (16/5) is favored to win, followed in order by “Hillbilly Elegy” (4/1), “Pinocchio” (4/1), “Mank” (9/2), and “Emma” (9/2).
Mark Coulier (“Pinocchio”) has already won this award twice for his work in “The Iron Lady” (2012) and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (2015). He is now one of 18 makeup artists to be nominated by the academy at least three times. If he prevails on this outing, he will tie Ve Neill’s record for third most wins in this category, after Rick Baker (seven) and Greg Cannom (four).
Two members of the “Hillbilly Elegy” team are also previous winners. Patricia Denahey brought home a trophy for “Vice” two years ago, while Matthew W. Mungle did so for “Dracula” in 1993. Mungle later reaped bids for his work in “Schindler’s List...

As we all know, Hollywood loves a sequel. So the town will probably be absolutely delighted to know that its oldest grill is making a comeback in early May.
The venerable Musso & Frank Grill, which has seen a large number of celebrities, musicians and executives grace its twin dining areas over the years, will reopen on Thursday, May 6. Like other businesses in the city, Musso & Frank has been shut down for the last year following a Los Angeles countywide public health order. Save for an aborted attempt at establishing a delivery service, it’s been dark since the pandemic closed Hollywood.
The restaurant has been in dozens of films and TV shows over the years, including The Kominsky Method, Bosch, Swingers, the 2001 version of Ocean’s 11, Ed Wood, Mad Men, Ray Donovan, and most recently Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 feature film Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

On one hand, you can’t help but admire the loyalty and dedication of Johnny Depp‘s fans, who have constantly backed the actor throughout the last several turbulent years of his career that have seen him dropped from two major blockbuster franchises and faced with a never-ending series of legal battles, with many insiders and analysts predicting that the 57 year-old’s standing in the industry has been dealt irreparable damage.
However, on the other side of the coin, there’s a feeling that many of his supporters are veering dangerously close to fanatical territory. As well as the various petitions to have him reinstated as Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Jack Sparrow while also attempting to have his ex-wife Amber Heard fired as Aquaman 2′s Mera, the Animaniacs revival faced backlash from a vocal minority for an out of date reference to a meme that was interpreted as a crack at Depp’s expense,...

Slowly but surely, we’re once again coming to the end of the line for this series folks. Yes, this time around I’ll be tackling the last of the technical categories in this series. After this week, it’s all the remaining big eight categories from here on out. This one today is arguably one of the lesser tech categories, but still an interesting one. Which one is it? Well, it’s the Best Makeup & Hairstyling category. This isn’t a particularly prestigious category, but hey…it’s still one worth discussing a bit. You all mostly just want to see the lists that I do anyhow, so I have no problem obliging you good people there in that particular regard once again. All you have to do is just be a bit on the patient side over the next paragraph or so and you’ll get the goods front and center…...
