The film stars real-life married couple Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn in one of their final film productions together. They were married for more than 50 years. After Jessica's death in 1994, Cronyn married Susan Cooper in 1996, who wrote this film.
This Hallmark Hall of Fame feature was nominated for several Emmys including Best TV Movie, Best Actor (Hume Cronyn) and Best Actress (Jessica Tandy). On the morning of the Emmy Awards ceremony, Jessica Tandy passed away. Her husband and co-star in this film, Hume Cronyn, was understandably not present at the ceremony that night and won the Emmy for his role in the film. The Television Academy quickly assembled a small tribute to Tandy which was shown during the ceremony that night. It was a fitting tribute not only to Tandy but to Cronyn as well.
Local Webster County, GA resident, Tony Kennedy, was hired to advise production about snakes of the area during water scenes.
