The trailer contains some alternate takes and deleted scenes (such as a scene at a horse track) that remain unseen in the final cut of the film. These scenes have been restored on the Echo Bridge Entertainment DVD release.
During a meeting with the two bickering rivals, "Dutch" Schultz and Jack "Legs" Diamond, "Lucky" Luciano (Billy Drago) exclaims that the outfit could be "bigger than US Steel". That statement was said in real life by Lucky Luciano's associate, mob treasurer Meyer Lansky.
At the theater, a fake serial entitled "The Adventures of Steve Dunker, Crime Fighter" can be heard playing. The title is a nod to one of the film's producers, C. Steven Duncker.
In spite of the film's title, the New York mob was known as the "Syndicate" and the leading mob bosses were referred to as the "Commission". The term "Outfit" is used by the Chicago mob with the name being created by Al Capone.
