Micky Love is a recovering alcoholic and entertainer who is the host of the long running game show "Family Values" which is highly successful. However, word spreads through the television studio that produces and broadcasts "Family Values" that the show is getting the axe in favour of the up and coming cocky entertainer Steve Deane's new Saturday night gameshow "Anything Goes" and the devastated production team are forced to tell Micky the bad news and Micky doesn't take the news well and starts drinking again. A drunk Micky goes to the studio to record the final show. However, instead of "Family Values", Micky learns the studio has prepared a surprise special tribute show dedicated to him called "Time of Your Life" where family and friends celebrate Micky's life and career. But, the tribute show goes wrong and a drunk Micky believing that the tribute show is the end of "Family Values" and his career rants at the audience and insults his family and friends which marks an end to his career.
